    Bought a Ryobi 18 gauge nailer 15 years ago, used it more than any of my other air nailers and it is still working the same today as it was when I got it, and I am a pro so it gets used a lot. Great nailer's.

    I am on the Ego platform for my OPE and recently have adopted the Ryobi (not Ree-obi) HP platform for all of my cordless workshop tooling. It was a toss up between Dewalt and Ryobi as I could get a similar 3pc kit from each of them for around the same price. However upon further inspection, the Ryobi tools were higher spec'd and I think the Dewalt tools were their older/cheaper models ie. impact driver only had a single mode whereas the Ryobi has 4 modes AND an awesome light. I can't fault the Ryobi HP gear. It's well weighted in the hand, has plenty of grunt and appears and feels like excellent build quality. I am still waiting for the tracksaw to come to NZ and guess I'll be waiting even longer for this to come here but when it does I'll be running to the store waving my cash at them. This thing's real nass like. Thanks a bunch Clint

    • @GannDolph

      Yeah DeWalt has a ton of combo kits , especially for the drill driver combos. Here in USA you have to check closely as they are usually around the same price but the tools and batteries can vary a lot. I have a few Dewalt 12v extreme tools which are super light and pleasure to use. A couple of 20v (brushless orbital, only dewalt, bosch and kobalt offer nice brushless orbitals here, and atomic impact dcf850), and ryobi for the rest. You really have to be in ryobi because the range of tools is unfathomably large. My favorite Ryobi sleeper is the PowerFile - highly recommended, load up on 36grit belts and it may be the most useful tool you'll own!

    • @GannDolph
      @GannDolph Před rokem

      @@coppulor6500 The powerfile was released in australia almost 2 years ahead of USA. I imported it from there using eBay. It was so good I gave it to my father (who loves it) and ordered another unit (again from australia). At the time it didn't look like the tool would come to USA but eventually it did.
      Anyway, it's been running great for over 3 years now with pretty much daily use. It is so handy for sanding or filing basically anything. Either side of the belt bar can be used as well as the curved tip. So quite a few contours as well as flat sanding profiles can be obtained once you get the hang of it. If MichaelAngelo had this thing back in his day he would have carved all his statues with it.
      I only use Red Label 36grit green zirconia belts on it. They soon loose their coarse bite and become a very durable , effectively higher-grit belt. If you use higher grit belts they soon wear in and have no bite. i know this sounds odd but take my word; my Dad thought it was strange advice until he ordered a 10pack of the 36 grit and he totally agrees now.
      Regarding other unique sleeper Ryobi tools , I really can't think of any that come close to the powerfile. The other manufacturers have caught up with most of the unique tool ideas Ryobi has brought forth over the years..
      I think their latest brushless high speed handheld pruner/lopper looks remarkable ,but it's been too pricey and i'm waiting patiently to pick it up for around half-off someday , which tends to happen eventually with the ryobi gear. cheers!

    Definitely purchasing one for work even though I don't work in construction but I work for an Industrial Equipment company and often I have to repair/modify /custom build pallets for shipping orders and it's surprising how much time is wasted using a hammer and individual nails and trying to overhead nail pieces of wood to the bottom of a 600kg crate of pallet trucks if the customer doesn't have a forklift that's lifted by a forklift isn't fun using a hammer and the question of "what if the hydraulics on the forklift fail and I get crushed? Isn't a pleasant thought.

      Although not absolute, a general rule of thumb is that 30 degree will be easier to find in the top half of the US. And the 21 degree will be more common in the Southern half. Has to do with building codes and whether or not a full head nail (21 degree) or clipped head nail (30 degree) is acceptable.

    My only problem with the Ryobi is that its $300. You can get the Milwaukee kit for $400 that also includes a 5.0ah battery and charger, making it just as good a value (and performance is a little better).

    Any chance you wanna shoot that framing nailer out to me in NJ for Artie Bucco's upcoming bday?
    I have the 18g nailer n crown stapler and they work better and faster, consistently than pass load and dewalt from my experience

    Gonna be that guy here, sorry. Anyone planning to use this in winter in Canada will have a bad time. Almost any nitrogen based nailer is going to have firing issues in negative temp. This thing is exactly the same product as the Ridgid one im fairly certain (the case shape looks identical). I had two of those and both returned because they don't work in winter.

      The problem isn't the nailers, the problem is you live in Canada! 😂

    It is strange you go to all the trouble of engineering a tool, but you can't fit in a light ?

    I prefer my milwaukee cordless framing nailer. The battery lasts a very very long time before recharge.
