  • I recently added a #Rokinon 10mm T3.1 wide angle F-mount lens to my cine lens lineup for my #GH5. At a price of $275 CDN used, I think I scored a real bargain. Sure, there are some everyday cons with this lens, but after revisiting those cons, I now believe this will be a very useful lens for my #filmmaking

    Just picked up this lens and will be using with my Panasonic G85. I love wide angle lenses, especially for shooting car videos. I subscribed and will continue to follow your channel.

    Great review! Thanks! I just found a Rokinon 12mm 3.1 on Amazon for around $229, which is a great price. After I ordered it went up to $399. It should arrive tomorrow and I'm looking forward to using it on my GH5 with a Viltrox (metabones copy) adapter, which should make it around 17mm.

    Nice review! Something you can for ND is to buy a second adapter and stick an ND on the inside of the adapter. I did this for the 14mm and it worked really well! I’m hoping to post a how to on my channel for this solution.
    You got one more sub from me!

    Great review! I've got the lens today but mine is a samyang 10 2.8, I see That the rings are different, but hey are the same lenses? I've saw the lens hood, but I've seen that you can change from 4/3 to 16/9 and problem solved. Also I have the metabones xl and I think I can see like shadows coming out from the borders when using stabilization, after disable this option is gone... Really weird... Also as I buy it for. My gh5 and my Canon 7D, with the Canon it's just perfect. Off course I can see heavy vignetting with my full frame 1dxmkii. So it's not usable. I was using the samyang 14 mm wich is usable for both worlds, I mean micro4/3 and full frame cameras. But I was expecting it can give you amazing results for wide shots for micro 4/3. As I am about to decide if I stay with the 14 or the 10 it's a hard decision, but I think Iwill stick with the 14 mm as I can use it in my full frame camera. Also that 10 mm lens it's around 400 eur and I've got the 14mm in 2017's Black Friday at amazon for just 200 eur.

      I haven't shot mine at 4:3 but I wouldn't be surprised if the hood does show slightly while using a speedbooster -- the 4:3 uses more of the sensor. I shoot at 16:9 for video so it won't be a problem for. The 10mm f2.8 is a different lens. The T3.1 is the cine version. Samyang and Rokinon are the same

    It's tough isn't it, getting so wide and keeping all the nice stuff you want the filters etc etc. This lens is phenominal though, some great images out of it, it's a shame however that it's use case is limited by factors that you can't really control.
    Is it best in this scenario with say like an overcast sunny day where there's not too much full blown sun ? I enjoy both skateboarding videography and your usual amateur photo and nature video stuff so it would really limit my use of it possibly.

      Take a look at the new TTartisan 10mm f2. Cheap. Wide. And you can put filters on it

      @@GreggMcLachlan What's great with that through looking at everything I've arrived at that decision too. There is 2 different versions though so I'm going to have a bit of fun looking at both and comparing.
      It's very low f stop which is something I really want to explore with the gh5 which was why I picked up the camera. As ever with us kind of camera folks there is always something else to look for regarding lenses they are very specific sometimes for use case and you can always use more haha. Great video and so helpful !

      I think in time I will end up picking this lens up, I love the quality from your footage, and honestly sometimes with the right weather and perfect conditions this would be the best.

    10mm +speed booster 0.71 +crop 2= 12mm?

    • @GreggMcLachlan
      @GreggMcLachlan  Před 4 lety +1

      I'll get out my calculator but that seems close

    • @cincinnatimini-storage1566
      @cincinnatimini-storage1566 Před 3 lety

      10mm x 2 crop x 0.71 speed boost = 14.2 mm, but I think that this lens is for the APS-C sensor, so the speed booster is likely going to lead to the sensor not being fully covered. Not 100% on that though. If the lens is for full size sensor then it should not be a problem.
