I think the doctor and Donna will have sex this time
Wow, so in Australia, it’s coming out on the 26th of this month
aven't watch Who since McCoy, but it's obvious that this section of the BBC has been infiltrated and poisoned by woke-left, intersectional racist sexist talentless creeps. They're now pissing on Who's grave. Dr Who is more dead than Disney's Star Wars and that's saying something.
Don't forget that the Second Doctor was offered a choice of faces at his trial, so it's been around a long time.
Let's keep in mind that the Doctor is prone to exaggeration. He predicted that space Titanic would take out the whole planet but it only ended up taking out London. Maybe with Donna they can get away with the effect not being so pronounced as death?
I agree with Christopher about Donna's character arc. I was so devastated that she lost all that when the Doctor wiped her memories.
Caicillius is pronounced with two hard Cs not a soft C in the middle
Depends on whether you’re speaking Classical or Church Latin…
@@paulinemeinung8949 or whether or not you watch the episode and see that it is pronounced with two hard Cs
My outlandish theory is that the only way to save Donna in the end is to completely undo the meta-crisis, which will take the time lord out of Donna, but will also delete the other version of the Doctor back on Pete’s world, which will of course mean Rose loses him, and the doctor ultimately has to chose between one or the other. Perhaps even choosing between Donna and Rose in some way, hence “why does it have to be this”.
I can't wait to watch your videos back once the episodes have all been released. It'll be so funny to see what's spot on and then how far off we all on other things.
Does anyone in Donna's family actually know the Tenth Doctor regenerated shortly after Donna's wedding? If they just see him rock up they will think he has just aged as the same Doctor.
I have had this exact same thought! I can totally see them playing around with that.
Wilf knew… (Edit: I should be more specific) 10 told Wilf he was dying when they met in the diner (cafe).
There keep being rumors that Susan, The Doctor’s granddaughter, is returning. What if she returns and helps Donna somehow? I could see it being that The Doctor is holding onto some guilt for leaving Susan behind. He’s also guilty about what’s going on with Donna. So Susan saving Donna by giving up her life to save her or something like that allows David’s Doctor to realize his best friend is ok and he can safely regenerate into 15 played by Ncuti. Carole Ann Ford who plays Susan was reportedly at the premiere for the specials a few weeks ago so I could see her showing up and being the one to save Donna and telling David “It’s ok Grandfather, you can move on now”. Just a theory.
Just a theory but I can easily see it being true in some way, or maybe she has nothing to do with Donna, but does come back at the end during the regeneration
My hope is really that they carry through like The Master and the four knocks did through all of Martha and Donna's series did.
This was a wonderful discussion video.
A couple of theories i had were 1) The Toymaker appears as a single vision to The Doctor in Star Beast and Wild Blue Yonder with The Doctor finally realising who has been messing with him in The Giggle. 2) There's a possibility Donna's mind could act as an opposite thought effect. What i mean by this is the more she thinks of travel the more at risk she is but the more her mind is set on staying with her family (particularly her daughter) she has the potential to remember the Doctor without the risk of her mind burning. - Just a theory.
Keep up the great work guys. Loving all the coverage of all things Who.
How I hope RTD and his team watch these videos. They must be enjoying the pain we are all going through lol
I just wanna say I don't always agree with your views/takes/opinions, but I will not let that get in the way of the fact that you are the absolute BEST Doctor Who channel on this platform and I love your videos!
I am so coming back to this over Christmas to see which theories pan out. ❤
So are we!
When The Tardis spoke she said "I always took you where you needed to go" Perhaps sometimes a Tardis can influence a regeneration, and she knew the doctor needed to have this face with these attachments this time.
The Tales of the Tardis with the memory Tardis adds an intriguing extra dimension which I really hope is incorporated into the plot.
I havent seen a theory that suggests Donna remembering the doctor could just be a game being played by the toymaker and will be revealed in 'the giggle' or even 'wild blue yonder' where the doctor shouts "Why does it have to be this and the giggle is an episode of trying to get rid of the toymaker and understand why he brought back the face and sort of played with the doctors mind as in donna remembering him and not dying. I know its long but would be crazy to see if its true
It was also done in the Arc Of Infinity when the fifth doctor was shot by a Time Lord commander of Gallifreyan Chancellery Guard Commander Maxil. The fifth doctor regnerated into that face in The Caves Of Androzani.
Great commentary as always all, we appreciate your work. Hey Sean, at time stamp 23:39, what's up with the orb floating over the back shelves?
The new specials are just around the corner!!
I personally think Ncuti Gatwas doctor won't appear until the regeneration. I really don't understand why everyone is so eager for him to be more involved. Can we not just enjoy tennant and tate for 3 episodes and enjoy hopefully year's Ncuti after that
I think the speculation is fueled by the fact it’s an anniversary and a really important/milestone one? Theres a precedent for more than one Doctor interacting with each other in anniversary stories so I totally get why people are even going there.
I just feel like having his first episode be a multi doctor story opposite one of the most popular actors to play the Doctor is asking alot. I think giving him a clean start from the regeneration forward would be better
I was just about to post a question regarding whether Colin Baker as Commander Maxil and then returning as The Doctor a year later had ever been addressed in canon..... and you guys brought the subject up the very next moment. Thank you for reading my mind and already answering that ❤
I love the video! Bring Chris back more for doctor who convos. He's a great writer and I like that perspective.
And I'm so excited!! I have no predictions. NPH is a super bonus for DW. I can't wait
I am hoping that they will bring the Timelords back. I have never been convinced that the Master was able to destroy them
Me too, it seemed like a deliberate snub by Chibnall which to my mind undermined the whole story of the 50th. After the War Doctor and angst of Gallifrey Stands No More/Crack through existence to just have it all destroyed again made me so angry
My best guess is that they had abandoned Gallifrey, because the planet had become a millstone around their neck.
Brainwashed The Master so that he thinks that he had destroyed Gallifrey.
and The Timelords need a new home, like one of the planets in the E-space that Adric came from
With RTD in charge it won't happen for some reason he's against having Gallifrey in the show.
@@Colin4763 IMO a handful of Timelords running away and hiding from the Time War would make perfect sense
RTD hates the Timelords, so he won't bring them back. Which is a shame, I f'ing love Gallifrey & the Timelords. #teamTimelords
Even though everyones in the dark, I think Wild Blue Yonder will be an episode which possibly tests and messes with the Doctor, his personality and emotions?
Maybe he has to relive and face up to bitter and sad experiences in his life like the death of companions and even himself over numerous times!
He may have to face up to what he could have altered to change an scenario, or what an incarnation of himself could have gone on to achieve. Could be a nostalgic clip episode.
Ironically death and regeneration have kept the show going for 60 years, otherwise it would have ended in 1966 after William Hartnell.
42:30 Actually, the wall opens behind Ellie, like when Madame Kovarian does it.
Also, Romana picked a new face back on Old Who Season 16 - Mary Tamm became Lalla Ward.
I know for a time travel show it’s a basic bitch concept but what if Ncutis involvement in the special(s) is as simple as he’s time traveling back in time from some part of his first season? Like Ncuti shows up mysteriously as an unnamed ally to help 14 while never admitting who he is until the last possible moment and leaves right before the actual regeneration? Like that clip of him saying “What the hell is going on here!?” is the Doctor realizing that the unnamed person that was helping him (14) was actually himself from the future? The weird timing and planning of these anniversary specials allows for a weird and mysterious “team up” before we’ve even gotten Ncutis introduction regeneration? Maybe Im completely off for even entertaining such a thing? Lol
Watching this after watching the first part of the specials hits differently😂
I came to Doctor Who with the 4th doctor! Looking forward to the 60th anniversary and the new Doctor.
me too. I fell in "love" with Doctor Who from the 4th Doctor. I love Baker's quirkiness.
And Jelly Babies
9:18 because (in my head canon) when the Doctor entered the matrix in the story with Commander Maxil, his memory of nine earlier incarnations was taken and his subconscious chose Colin Baker’s face to remind him of the memories lost.
I still think that the fact that The Master had messed with The Doctor's regenerations should tie-in with explaining The Valeyard. It is one thread that has been left hanging for far too long, and could be used in so many dark and interesting ways .
My wild-eyed theory is that The Doctor straight up lied about Donna dying if she remembers, because he was afraid that The Doctor-Donna was The Hybrid. It's never been clearly determined who The Hybrid is, so she still could be. Maybe The Doctor finds a way to prove she isn't, and let her keep her memories.
I don't think RTD will kill Donna, nor let her lose her memories again. He may find a way to let her return to being human, while remembering her adventures and growth. Or she may get the first spinoff in RTD's new Whoniverse, as The DoctorDonna. Maybe she travels with Jenny. Maybe they also team up with Ashildr and Clara. Now that's a spinoff I'd watch, The Four Hybrids.
Finally today Disney+ in the US Acknowledged that a Dr Who special is coming Nov 25th.
I think the doctor will meet his new face (shootie) in a dream or mind state saying...shootie saying "this is my time" and the doctor (David) asking him to " take care of donna" something heartfelt like that.
OK really weird question about it all. What are they going to do with the interior of the tardis? Obvioulsy each regeneration has their own interior styling, but will it mould itself back to old 10, a new 10 interior, 13th interior or straight to Chuti, and will that cause any links as to why the old face?
Very good question. I have been wondering about that myself.
Eh, we should just call it Season Forty. If the show keeps going without a hiatus, the 70th Anniversary would be the fiftieth season!
Who knows... The Master messed with The Doctor so much leading up to this, maybe he's responsible for the old face making a second appearance? I just know Mr. Davies has something up his sleeve, and I will enjoy this rollercoaster ride. It'll be something brilliant!
...I hope they involve Susan--the mystery of her history has been around forever!
I read a theory that The Doctor has swapped bodies with The Metacrisis Doctor somehow and that's why he appears as an aged version of 10.
Well, so much for that theory...
@Elittlechild it was said th 13ths finale the Guardians said " We have to go to the Outside" which is Donna.
I have a feeling that when the 14th regenerates into the 15th one line could be, "I'm ready to go now." As opposed to the, "I don't want to go." by the 10th.
33:32 the sarah jane adventures was peak television on cbbc when i was a kid. God i miss those days
SO EXCITED
We could be ahead of the Doctor on some things and be surprised by him regarding others.
12 Taking the face of the Pompeiian is not the first time this has been done - The Master stole the Entire body of Tremas (The Keeper of Traken) and Romana adopted the face of the Princess who turned out to actually BE the last part of the Key with her first regeneration (The Key of Time Part Six). So it could be done again with Ncuti,
Do we know if Bernard Cribbins is going to feature in any part after his death last year??
You were right about it
Now that I’ve seen it, I think you guys had some better ideas for the third special.
IS all this now on DISNEY + FOR US in the States.?
Instead of an end the specials could be setting up the start of a new beginning. The start of the next sixty years. A very Happy ending
im envious that ellie grew up with the sarah jane adventures, i missed out unfortunately due to just getting into doctor who in 2015 and not really knowing about the spin off, but the second i watched it last year i honestly cried almost every episode.... the level of depth that fucking CHILDRENS SHOW HAS IS INSANE
if you see this id love to know your thoughts on maria vs rani (i absolutely loved both of them but while maria was amazing and couldve carried the show with sarah jane, rani having a spinoff is just very much necessary)
Revelations like that make me feel SO OLD! I was a grown adult in my 20s watching the Sarah Jane Adventures… and loved every minute!❤
Of all the people on SJA I'd want a Luke Smith spin off. We were so close to having Sanjay introduced and that being explored.
@@langleymneely i mean literally same but thats cause i watched it last year when i was 23 lol, and like i said cried my eyes out almost every single episode...... such a good show, every character was amazing, it explored what it could and added new things as well, i mean honestly how anyone could watch that show and just not like it would baffle me
@@henry20477 i get that, personally if rani got a spinoff id assume the rest of the gang would be there (i think rani's second big finish boxset in january has luke) but like idk luke i think works better as a cameo role in things, like have him show up in doctor who for a bit, or in the unit spinoff or torchwood audios yanno???
@@Arizonaguy1856 I was devastated when I learned of her death! Such an underrated show!💔
The specials will be like Flux where theres a ongoing theme but each episode can be watched on its own.
I almost wonder if they would pull an MCU mysterio card for the Celestial Toymaker where hes in a blink and you'll miss it gotcha shot and unless you go frame by frame you're not going to see him kind of thing
I wondered if the Donna problem, Human/Timelord metacrisis can be repaired with a Chameleon thingy (as per Human Nature) to simply convert her to a human?
Chameleon Arch
I’m wondering if there are Timeless Child shenanigans. Ncuti May be our 15th, but he’s not part of the regeneration chronology. Make sense since they are billing this as a season one and not a continuation.
@WhoCulture I have a theory on how Ncuti Gatwa is going to be involved in the 60th specials maybe he travels back on his own timeline to help out you know the Classic loop paradox
In the 50th anniversary the Curator said that the Doctor will revisit older faces and now he has. Surely that has to play a factor in the Fourteenth Doctor looking like the Tenth?
Are they going to be on Disney+ bc I’m panicking about whether I can see or not
Yes they are 😊
Sean! You actually said that?!🤯
I'm betting the Toymaker is the boss The Meep referred to
11:50 Donna is in a different situation AND she's strong. Rose in this era and Donna are both strong as hell. I'd love it if Donna could be left with the memories of everything that she did, every world she saved, the ood she freed, but alive. It's boring to kill her (like killing a character with exercise), but Donna not remembering was cruel and so is continuing it.
Ive been a WHOVIAN SINCE TOM BAKER,so i am kinda HOOKED ON DR. WHO.
I have been thinking that the person who saves Donna, is Rose her daughter. She had Rose when she had all that Timelord energy in her, who's to say that didn't transfer to Rose in the womb. Just my guess on how they save Donna 🤷🏾♂️
Its literally just dawned on me, i despise the timeless child storyline but the whole thing with the 'timelords' stealing the regeneration energy from the doctor as a young child could be how donna is saved, let me explain my thinking
Donna is human and a human cant contain a timelord mind (or so we're lead to believe) but if thats the case how did the species that became 'timelords' after stealing the ability to regenerate from a very young doctor manage to survive, how are they compatible but a human (apparently) is not
What if the doctor (14) or any of his past selves in the edge remember how the 'timelords' were able to make themselves compatible with regeneration energy and thats where Chuti comes in, his incarnation (15) is in the edge but has remembered how the 'timelords' were able to make themselves compatible with regeneration energy and he forces 14's regeneration so he can save donna?
Its an interesting theory and i could be miles off the mark but it would somewhat make the whole timeless child arc a bit more bearable and would be an interesting way to address the past while also using it to save donna but also introduce 15
🤔
What about Timey whimey stuff? Gatwas 15th Doctor could also be present as a future Version of the Doctor having an adventure with its past! I mean whe had multi Doctor Specials with past incarnations but why not a future form of the Doctor from our perspective as a Multi-Doctor Story? That would be something new...
What if David Tennant's Doctor returned because of trauma? As in look at everything The Doctor went through as 12 who was basically sucicidal by the end of his life span not even wanting to regenerate and then everything 13 went through with losing Galifrey yet again. It could be a regression back to a time when The Doctor was with Rose and Donna and maybe happier days over all. 10 still went through a lot but he also sure but he also enjoyed his time and didn't want to go so from a psychological standpoint maybe this is The Doctor trying to go back to a happier time.
6:40 A fly spy.
yeah, but the Doctor is STILL NOT GINGER!!
Toymaster still exists, Sean! I worked for my local one earlier this year. Lasted 2 days due to my mental health issues, then bumped into the guys from there at an event a few months later and they were assholes. Best avoided.
Ellie for new doctor 🎉
Talking of misdirection, I have a hunch that the big reveal in ‘the Giggle’ is going to be that the Toymaker is another identity of the Master. This is because the whole MO with mind control on a global level and mind manipulation is very much a Master style plan.
Also, if John Logie Baird is featured, will Helena Bonham Carter make an appearance as Noelle Gordon.
there would have to be a big plot point for susan to come in. it's not going to be as simple as her just showing up. she left the 1st doctor on a parallel future.
I still lament that Doctor Who and Star Trek haven't had more official crossovers! We got robbed of Nine and Rose on Enterprise and no sequel to Star Trek TNG/Doctor Who with Twelve and Clara on DS9 with the Dominion and Sontarans! :(
Sontarans, Daleks, Cybermen and Ood would not mix with Vulcans, Cardassians, Romulans and Klingons. Ferengi would be just out to make latinum from anyone they could.
as there is now no theoretical limit to the doctors' regeneration. do you think we'll ever see the doctor killed multiple times in a row before settling on a surviving face? THAT would be something...
Rose is the key to why Donna is save now.
5 meets someone who he then turns into as 6, that was 2 Doctors following each other
Peter Purves …when does he get back on Who then eh? Eh? Or did his character die, I don’t know
The doctor didn’t have or know he had the power of the timless child when Donna left, surely he could use his regeneration energy so Donna doesn’t die?
I do think the doctor received the power to become the timeless child as 11 and ruth is the doctors far future haven been used to rewrite timelines on Gallifray
Leave us not leave out Colin Baker as a member of the Chancellory Guard. His having threatened the Fifth Doctor. This leaving enough of an impression that the Sixth Doctor looked like him...
THANKS for this, WhoCulture Gang!!!! I liked the TARDIS Tales and I'm so excited about Saturday!!!! I'm with Sean: I'm interested in Donna's reaction to the idea that the previous Doctor was a woman :) And yes to Christopher's comments about RTD and Moffat vs. Chibnall. By the way, Ellie: I read that the Saturday specials will be on Disney+ @ 1:30 p.m. EST.
Romana Chose to take the appearance of Princess Astra from the Planet Atrios who appeared in the six part story the Armageden Factor, which wrapped up season sixteen and concluded the key to time saga.
Because Mary Tamm wanted to leave, right? I forget
@@tracyroweauthor That's more or less what happened. Although I am not entirely clear on why. I don't know if it was because she couldn't get along with Tom Baker or she just didn't like the show. I have no idea but Mary Tamm left the show and they recast Lala Ward in the part which led to the explanation of Romana choosing Princess Astra's face.
@@josephcooter5763 Right. Anyway, I didn't like Romana II or Tom Baker, not really. They're a bit bland.
Could we have a stronger Romana III, more like the first one?
@@Donnagata1409 I don't think Tom Baker's Doctor was Bland. In fact I rather like his portray. It was a bit eccentric. But hey it was the seventies after all.
The regeneration of 14 is visually wrong... so something odd happened there. There is the burning away of... like paper burning off of something it's covering.... or the reverse... the burning through of 14 into this universe... so that even his clothes come with him. (Visually it's identical to how people are destroyed from the timeline in Loki... also a Disney thing) Is this very first thing the first move of the Toymaker... pushing 10 in as 14? Sadly only one of the original toymaker episodes survives... BUT we know he rigs everything he can to win and he hates he lost to the Doctor before. Will he pit 14 & The Doctor Donna against 15 in a game somehow? 14 must win to save Donna?
Nope
As if the Timelord Victorious was a Pyrrhic Victory?
Will they (Russell T.) surprise us? They will surprise us! How could they surprise us?
Bringing back Jon Pertwee? (I wish.)
Could Sean Pertwee appear as the "Third Doctor"? (I doubt it.)
Could "The Fourteenth Doctor" really be The Master?
Could The Celestial Toymaker by The Master?
Cou,d we discover The Toymaker is really a regeneration of The Doctor?
Will we see The Doctor's Daughter? Will she regenerate into a spin-off?
Could The Toymaker be Alfred? (Michael Gough... Sean Pertwee... )
Will we see Susan, The Doctors grand-daughter? (Please!)
As always, thank you so very much for the videos.
And as far as Seán being made to feel old by Ellie . Speaking as a native Californian who first encountered, and feel in love with The Doctor in the '60s, then after a little over a year had to return to the U.S. and wait for Jon Pertwee to appear on NBC in "Doctor Who" in the '70s (horribly chopped into half-hour episodes)... you young kids.
Well, I didn't watch Doctor Who as a kid, since I don't live in the UK or in the USA.
(Don't worry, I've have watched all the Modern Who and most Classic Who by now.)
On the other hand, when I was born the series had been only recently aired.
Young kids indeed... 😁😁
I was also confused by the timing of the airdates. It's good to have someone like CM, who works on that end of the industry, tell me that it makes sense in light of the Christmas Special. Now I understand. And now that we know when the specials will air here in the States, I am doubly happy, though my heart goes out to Ellie, who will have to scramble to catch up in time for Ups and Downs.
The Confession Dial: I know some people would like to think that the Doctor is now over 4 billion years old. For me, he did not live for all that time, he only lived for the last trip through. Here's why: He doesn't remember each trip; he only remembers the last one. "A man is the sum of his memories, you know. A Time Lord even more so..." - The Doctor, from The Five Doctors.
Also, according to the end card, Christopher Monfette is now a WhoCulture presenter. It's canon.
I have a feeling that Rose will regenerate, as she has some form of time lord DNA, so she could regenerate? As when they announced that Ncuti will be the doctor, they said "New Doctor" so could it be an actual new Doctor!!!
Imagine rose is melody pond, theve done the whole time lord companion child story before with the ponds and ellie would love to see this be true
@@Leon-gv5ihIs there anywhere in her regen cycle that would work well? Melody was a baby, then the kid in the alleyway (which might be the same incarnation or a different one), then the next was Mels, then River. The only possible gap is between her as a baby and as a girl in the alley. We’ve seen Rose as a baby. River was definitely Melody’s last incarnation. The only way this could work is if her early childhood was as Rose, then after S4, she came back and regenerated into a little girl. It would screw with River’s knowledge of the Doctor if she had been Rose.
@@ShDynasty_Comma_To_The_Top theres always chance for wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff to go down and theres always a place for a return for river song. I see where ur coming from but there was a video Ellie made talking about fan theories and perhaps river has met the 14th before, Rose would be a good example of this if she has regen energy. As long as RTD can explain the history, anything could work. Rose may even be that 4th doctor time lord companion (cant remember her name) or any other time lord such as the master but thats all extreme
High School Reunion on steroids. 44 hours, 20 minutes.
As you are well aware by now, such a 'save' is not required.
Doubt it. But what if the Toymaker is working with someone.
A fellow timelord of high importance (Omega?) or some other power outer god being.
They’ve been telling us about the toymaker and it’s been in our faces for so long. They could pull a wild card on us and I think they will.
My god the Omega theory has been around since season 2 with people going Omega is going to be in it as the Trailers show it in "secret messages". Which turned out to be absolute nothing to do with Omega.
It will be the shortest time a Doctor has lived though. Think Tennant came back because Ncuti was busy.
Did Davis & Tennant come up with the 14th before or after Ncuti was named as the next?
😀
*Davies
@@lexruptor pronounced DAY-VEEs or DAY-VISS? (Elle and Sean seem to pronounce "Day-viss". I would pronounce his name "Day-Vees".
I think the "she" that mentions Gallifrey is Rose Temple. My supposition is that she inherited elements of The Doctor Donna from her mum.
If they wanted to really number it right this would be season 41 😉
The Doctor is the greatest toy the ToyMaker ever made
In the words of madame vastra...can she even regenerate?
@Elittlechild Donna's head will not pop. it would if she meets the 10th Doctor, but since this is the 14th who is not completely 10 but 10,11,12,13 and 14. she will survive with 14
It nearly popped when she saw the master gang approach and she didn't even encounter the master with the doctor
Are WE even watching the primary universe and not the other universe that we've seen before?
There's no reason to believe they don't have their own Doctor and Donna (Keep an eye out for Zeppelins)
I want Catherine Tate to be revealed as The Rani.... where is the pocket watch that has The Rani's essence.... thoughts?
Oh, please, do bring back the Rani!
OMG, Your all so young the S,J, Adventures. I think I was in my late 30's early 40's the family thought I had gone mad still watching CBBS shows 😂..
Really expecting Wild Blue Yonder to be the ‘Empire Strikes Back’ of the 3 specials. A second act break of sorts, really gunna be an emotional rollercoaster 😅
I am not an animal! I am a WHO-man Being! ;-P
If theres anything right said in this you know they'll clip the hell outta it. 😂
Saturday morning Dr who movie's was my 70s childhood.
I've purposely not watched the trailers. I want to be surprised. I accidentally saw a minute or two. I wouldn't have watched this either but it came on as the next video on my feed. Ugh. then it as too late. Lol
