      This is basically the CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) here in the UK, and with that you can only ride a scooter or a 125cc Motorbike, Although you will do more of this going for the next level or full A licence. The licensing then gets a little complicated depending on your age so I won't confuse and bore you with the A1, A2 and A licence Mod 1 and Mod 2 information 😂

  • @bio179
    @bio179 Před měsícem +46

    Fun fact: in Italy and some other EU countries the cone exercise you show at the beginning is done to pass the license test. The difference is the cones are at 13 feet distance and you have to do it much slower. Also the U turn is also 13 feet wide. You have to do it in more than 25 seconds, anything less and no license for you.

    • @MotoDash1100
      @MotoDash1100 Před měsícem +7

      In some of the EU countries you also get to Lane Filter/Split.
      It makes sense to learn slow weave to get your license when you will be slowing going in between cars.
      In Amerika, it being car-centric and anti-smallVehicles (including motorcycles and scooters) they don't make us do the slow weave to get a license because when would we be legally using it on the road?
      100% agree that if/when we get lane splitting nationally legal, (in about 50-150 years) that we should implement this training to get a license.

    Hi Carolyn: Thanks for another great video. I’m 70 year old retired firefighter (retired 12 years ago) with chronic back pain. I’ve been practicing some of your (and motojitsu’s) drills. I was practicing U turns at the high school parking lot, trying to achieve the 16 foot U turn (2 parking spaces). I was good at 20-25 feet and when I attempted the 16 foot U turn, I dropped my 2012 BMW 1200RT, putting some nasty scratches on my side case. First thing I thought was “what would Doddle do!” I tried unsuccessfully to pick it up, when I nice lady with a huge barking dog came and helped me. I thanked her and she said to her dog “come on HARLEY let’s go! Guess I should get some crash guards? Thanks again for being YOU!

I mentioned you in the classroom portion. Just casually I was like, 'I was watching a motorcycle youtuber. Her channel is Doodle on...' and the teacher was like, 'oh, sure! I love watching Doodle...' and then 30% of the class was like, 'yea, that's a great channel...' Well done! I'm right outside of Charlotte and did my MSF in Upstate SC. We had gravel pits and many trails to learn in. After thrashing our bikes in the pits we then rode the bike home ,to school, or to do paper routes. It was a great time to be a teenager. Great job! But why do you give yourself so little space while doing the snowman? You start your turns so tight that you easily have another meter of space before hitting the cones. Going a little wider would make for an easier turn/circle, which could be a bit more forgiving in case you make any mistakes, but also would give you more space on the road and in your head to properly assess the situation. For me this helped to relax a bit more, relaxing my body, making the turns a lot smoother.

    Retraining your brain to release the clutch (more throttle for an automatic) when the bike feels like it's falling is probably one of the most important skills. It's not even a skill, it needs to be immediate muscle memory. Once you do that, you no longer need to think about it, your body will just do it. Then every one of those exercises except emergency stops becomes so much easier because you are not concerned with dropping your bike. Also, most of these exercises should not involve your brake, even your rear brake at all. Slowing down makes them all harder.
