So nice to see your new Ship sailing! I have been sailing catamarans with daggerboards since the 1970's. I have crewed on many racing monohulls but sailing a big catamaran upwind with daggerboards is a real treasure. Blessing to you and your boat in the days ahead. Have a wonderful journey on your fast and safe catamaran.
I have been following your channel for over 4 years. Indeed this is the best sailing channel on CZcams. The presentation, music and dialogue are impeccable. Please continue with your adventure and keep posting to CZcams. Thank you for your channel
Great to watch, much easier to understand with the footnotes. Your boat looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing it up close. Thanks for sharing. 😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺
You saved the best until last. There is something about the O55. Very so close, I am very excited for you both. I look forward to the next videos. Bons Ventos. The Portuguese Wallaby Down Under
Yes that’s exactly the idea, so with one of the wheels turned underneath the Bimini you still have 360 degrees vision without having to move, bend or lean
My wife and I both in our seventies have a Lagoon 56S on which we have so far sailed a third of the way round the world. It is no harder to manage than a 45 or 50 Cat as long as you have electric winches, I really don’t understand what the fuss is about a Cat over 48 feet is. Congrats on your new boat, we met you briefly in St Maarten last year
Finally, life goes back to normal - you are back. Great Circle is on the horizon, I keep my fingers and toes crossed everything will go well on the 6th, thx for the little cruise. PS: Sorry to say, the Lagoon looks a little like an overdeveloped tour bus.
I would agree that the full fly bridges get the boom a little high, but I think a great compromise is the sky lounge concept of the Privileges and FPs. I think a perfect boat for me would be an O55 with something similar.
The Privilege 580 is a nice cat, we had a small sail on it in challenging conditions, and it has a Sportop like the L52S. Downside is the 2 fixed forestays, the short nose and the somewhat different layout of the cabins
Have you watched the CZcams channel, “the Sailing Family”? They have a gorgeous red Outremer named Archer and their sailing buddy has the same model, but it’s green. They are always racing each other. I highly recommend their channel.
@@CatGreatcircle That’s good to hear…..plus of course you are at the best end of the delivery waiting list…..sounds like there has been a worldwide boom in new purchases?
We reserved a slot in September 2019, but at that time the model only existed on paper. The first 2 boats were delivered in May, so we’re not far behind. In the meantime the issue is different as they already sold a lot of 55’s. You have to ask Outremer but it might take 2 to 3 years now depending on the preferred delivery month.
Could you pls tell me how the noise of the furniture in the Lagoon 55 was? The new Lagoon 42 is very loud inside. The furniture is creaking and squeaking even in modest conditions.
In the Lagoon 55 it was ok so far, not as quiet as in the Outremer 55 but still. The interior of the Lagoon52 made a lot of noise. As indicated for the Lagoon 55 I am more afraid of “the man with the hammer” as the bridge deck is really low now over the full width to be able to lower the front beds
That lagoon would have been really big for just the two of you! Like a ballroom! Was there any mention of the lagoon bulkhead issue by the representatives. It appears the lagoon 450 anyways is pretty much unsellable now as a real cruising boat due to build quality issues.
For most of our arguments you could watch episode 206 where we compare the O55 to our previous boat in a fair balanced comparison as we still like the L52S a lot. The Lagoon 55 is similar to the 52 with a couple of differences : - the finish of the interior of the L55 has improved compared to the L52 - the L55 doesn’t have a Sportop version so the boom and therefore the Center of effort and cog is considerably higher (read: it sails worse than the L52S) - the bridge deck height is again lower than on the L52S (read: it sails worse AND the banging will keep you awake at night even at moderate sea states) - the space in the cockpit was better on the L52S due to this 4th kitchen/fridge thingie on the L55 The Lagoon 55 is a GREAT cat for parties, big groups and fun and stability on an anchorage. It’s a very safe boat so you CAN use it for longer trips, but it’s design does have a couple of disadvantages for such use. So again, whether this is your cat will as always be depending on your preferences, where you want to use it for, the number of people on board etcetera. No good or bad, just differences
That looks like an awful lot of boat for his first time as skipper, would he consider hiring a professional captain to help him out for the first six months ??

Greatcircle is real gem, looking forward to seeing her cross oceans...
Congrats and goodluck with this EXCITING upcoming week!
You made an exzellent choice, preferring the O55 over the L55LM. Congrats.

Great images of 55 at the end. Looking right through the cabin!

Prachtige boot heeeeel veel vaar plezier kijk uit naar jullie videos.
Wens jullie een behouden vaart.

Piepels, wat loopt die boot mooi over het water! Schijnbaar zo moeiteloos. Mooi. En veel plezier volgende week!
Happy groetz,

Nice filming.
Very exciting. Time must be going soooooo slow at the moment.
Always a lot of last minute things to arrange before we leave so not sooooo slow to be honest

Of course!
Good to see you back, it must have been soo frustrating waiting to get her on the water?
Yes and no, it also gave us some time to do all kind of other fun stuff in between
@@CatGreatcircle That’s good to hear…..plus of course you are at the best end of the delivery waiting list…..sounds like there has been a worldwide boom in new purchases?
Yes incredible, almost all shipyards seem to benefit
How long have you been waiting for this boat, how long does it take from order to delivery?

Yes it would have been too big, until now there are no Sportops announced though
I’d rather have the O55 over the L55. Enjoy your new catamaran.
A pity that you didnt take the L55, such a great boat. ;-( . Why need a sports car?

Na de Lagoon gezien en gezeild te hebben zijn alle eventuele twijfels definitief verdwenen denk ik.
😎

Yes he probably would
