POV Speed Ski 167kph training in Vars - GoPro data overlays.

- Feel the action on board my GoPro camera whilst skiing down the World Record track in France during training. You can see speed, acceleration, G-force, altitude difference and more from the data provided by GoPro's built in GPS.
This is the fastest ski slope on the planet and I was starting about half way down in early season training with perfect snow conditions. It was one of the first times I used the GoPro data overlays and was very impressed by the results!
For this run I was testing a new boot setup and was skiing on my World Cup Speed Ski Atomic skis (2m38 and 96m+ radius). The suit is a standard alpine downhill one, but with my full face helmet. - Sport
....as viewed from...the cockpit. 😁
Ok now that’s a good one😂🤣
that videogame looks sick!
Hahaha!
Muy bien!
Que pasada toda la información que da la Gopro...!
From 0 to 167 km/h from 2497 to 2406 m . ONLY minus 91 meters of altitude !
Congratulations Jan
Totally sick.
And here I am, afraid to go faster thn 135. How do you keep your feet this steady? At around 120kmh my ski start to "wobble" (for lack of a better word) if I dont stay on the edge, I simply can't maintain stability, no matter how hard I try. Is it the ski type or am I just a wimp? I'm rocking my dad's old Salomon Crossmaxes (180) with side mounted bindings.
@@XD226 even with a gs ski your ski will wobble at 120kmh, unless it’s WC FIS, For 120 id recommend downhill skis lol, they don’t get past 120 in super g.
@@DiamanteLol Yeah, for speed skiing like this I would assume those skis have ever bigger radius than DH skis (218cm/50m radius min for men) and one way to provide stability at those speeds is with a SG/DH or speed-skiing ski; the downside or rather the requirement is to be able to control them, to even be able to get them to turn/slown down and most people wouldn't be able to, resulting in them having to crash to slow down, which with such long and hard skis could end up nasty for knees and legs. So 2 requirements: skill/experience of riding on SG/DH skis and those skis themselves. I did the 'speed test race' once, when I was 13 or 14 and a racer, I did it on 203/35m (or something like that back then) SG skis, getting to 122km/h on a decently short slope and those skis can be pretty scary even for a competitor when slowing down without a huge runway, I wouldn't recommend that for 'casual' skiers without training on such skis.
1:02 he hit 1.7 G slowing down....literal nobody is talking about this...why??
I've hit around 3g slowing down!
lol you are impressed with 1.7g?
@@azonicrider32 Wondering now how much G's they pull on a ski apline downhill race or a Super-G... guess Super-G is called like that for a reason lol
@@lakai2305 Super G means Super Giant Slalom ...but ya they go to 3.5g in turns, not to mention higher in parts of the course that dip into small valleys where they can get into 5g+ momentarily
@@azonicrider32 Ah okey so thats where the name comes from :D ... im not that much into ski alpin ... but it's always a pleasure to watch the races :)
What software do you use to add those stats on video?
GoPro Quik with the Hero 5's GPS information!
He didn’t lie he actually did it
Hi dear friend!
And what do you think about the accuracy of GPS telemetry... The readings of the GoPro 5/6 can be trusted, speed shows accurately?
Hi, I'd say the error margin can be up to 3-4% compared to professional timing; enough to get a good estimate.
HONOUR FOR THEM
Do you feel the G forces?
How difficult is that?
Looks relatively easy haha
Gordon Ramsay makes cooking look relatively easy. How difficult can it be, right?
It’s fucking scary you feel like ur skis are gonna drop and your gonna be dropped at 100 km + on the grounds
‘’that was fun’’
That's 103 MPH. Wow!
it's 46 meters per second
its in KPH not MPH lol
@@scaleop4 he converted it
@@scaleop4 no shit, he converted it dummy
How many inches per lunch break?
Wich gopro is used?
That was a Hero 6
i went that fast on a tube once...
Was it scary? :D
For sure
Rick Fx did you type your comment like Steven hawking in your wheelchair??😂
The first time I got back to skiing after a while I tried going down a blue and didn't know how to properly slalom. I ended up throwing myself back, I was fine. The amazing thing is though after about three years(this time I have gotten to the proffesional level) I get out of the woods(very slowly) fall backwards and tear my MCL and ACL.. its ridiculous.
prolly fun, not challenging.
Thats the fun part of skiing tho; to see if you can handle the turn a little better than last time to know your limit.
it is infinitely more challenging than you think it is
@@TH-cx2yx I have had skis on, so idon't know about "infinitely"...But Ok, it's challenging:) Have a nice day
insane
Hahaha
if you do the same thing naked and have someone film from the bottom of the hill, you have yourself 10 million views
Haha, maybe!
And he's probably gonna die
Get a Porsche 911
haha what the fuck
0-100 faster than my car lol
10 sec of fun after an endless preperation. Most people only know that from having sex.
camera on eggs or what?
Haha, almost... It's a chestie GoPro with a wide angle!
Dude: standing still
Speedometer: 4mph
i am a lot faster
noob
To be honest, probably not.
Yes, you REALLY beat 167 km/h with his 0,7 km/h
noob
if i throw you of a cliff you'll beat his speed
dont understand this sport
Get some ski, aerodynamic stuff and go as fast as possible.
