What I love about Clyde's story is it subtly brings attention to the fact that a lot of war stories are either rife with embellishments or just plain made up and we'll have no way to prove it.
As an Italian i can say that the war in the Alps is an forgotten war, no one know about that. And that's sad cause lot of people lost their lives there
Avanti savoia really hits you in the feels at the end
OneJediBoi are you not that guy from tbags channel?
@@elijahmacalpin3418 yes
Hey
Congrats on the TBAG comment thing btw
Fr
I just find it hilarious how Luke manages to completely skip all stealth in any mission and just full sends 24/7
"those trenches were packed full of the german's finest"
Luke: Woah! There's loads!
😂
I’m gonna rush in !
Fun fact:
Blackburn is actually the "name" of the main guy from BF3
Yes it’s thought that they might be relatives.
The writing of Friends In High Places really is the best. Players take control of the main protagonist Clyde Blackburn. When we first meet this American pilot, we find him cheating at cards, stealing a plane and lying about his identity… so players interpret him as a bit of a lovable rogue. That makes sense, right? Because why wouldn’t your player be the good guy?
Clyde and his gunner, Wilson, are ambushed by German planes and a dogfight breaks out. Still, they manage to recon a munitions base and are soon leading a bombing raid on the enemy base. So far, so standard. Except Clyde told Wilson that all of this would lead to medals and glory, and promised that he would make sure Wilson would return home safely. And, well, we know Clyde’s a habitual liar and we know that probably isn’t going to happen.
When Clyde comes across Wilson, trapped in the wreckage of the plane, he’s left with a difficult choice: live up to his promises and save the man, doing the honourable thing even though trying to carry him back home is a suicide mission… or kill his friend in cold blood to silence him, and get back safely by himself. It’s a defining moment when Clyde saves him. With the player staggering back to the safety of British lines, weighed down by Wilson and unable to hold a weapon to defend yourself, it’s a harrowing journey.
Once they’re back in friendly territory, Clyde faces a court-martial and is handcuffed to the railing of a boat on the River Thames. However, a German air-raid kills the officer who arrested him and forces Clyde and Wilson to return to the action. They fly off to protect London in an action-packed sequence. Having saved the day, Clyde and Wilson leap from a German zeppelin into the river. We don’t see Wilson again, but Clyde drags himself out the water and lives to tell the tale… and this is the tale he’s telling, the one he’s sticking to. It’s also one of the greatest moments in gaming; not the gameplay of the level, which pulls you in instantly with action, adventure and nail-biting experiences, but Clyde’s story.
Because it’s a lie.
Clyde’s final narrative statements, along with flashbacks, will have any player’s jaw dropping and their mind reeling as the truth sinks in. Clyde says that his tale, as fantastical as it all may sound, is completely true… although there are other versions of his story out there, ones which conflict with the ones the player has been through. He chalks it up to the confusion of the war. After all, he tells us with a sly smile, he wouldn’t lie to us… would he?
That slippery bastard. Of course, he would lie to us, because he’s lied to everybody else. He lied and the great gameplay suckered us in, making us believe it. Yet the minute you see the flashbacks, you realise you’ve been conned.
Clyde killed Wilson when they were trapped behind enemy lines because he had the chance to save his own skin. That’s why you can’t see him when you’re making your escape run. Clyde killed him and came home by himself. He never stopped the air-raid either. If he’d jumped from the zeppelin like he said, he’d probably have died from the impact. Instead, he was probably still on the boat when his arresting officer got killed and escaped when it sank which is why he’s seen climbing out of the water.
He isn’t a lovable rogue, and he isn’t a hero. He’s a liar, a cheat, a murderer… and a survivor.
History is written by the victors. The fact that Clyde survives, in a war which claimed the lives of over 18 million people, makes him one of those victors. He can tell the story however he damn well pleases, to the point that he can even admit to being purposefully ambiguous to the player. He may only be a fictional character in a game set during real-life events, but at that moment he seems real. You don’t know whether you should love him or hate him.
Copy and pasted from :
www.fortressofsolitude.co.za/clyde-story-modes-matter/#:~:text=Clyde%20killed%20Wilson%20when%20they,and%20came%20home%20by%20himself
It’s not a victors thing IMO , it’s just that during times like war a lot of BS gets spread and sometimes you can’t separate truth from it . Both sides will only tell their own side of the tale , not the others .
@@harshbansal7982 I'm not sure that is correct. The battle of Villers Bocage where one german Tiger apparently destroyed 20 armoured vehicles was never contesteed by the British because the British didn't want to write up reports. Instead, they just took Wittmans propaganda report and published that. Never actually asking the on site commanders what happened.
The battle of Villers Bocage is now one of the most controversial battles because the facts don't line up with what Wittman or any of the British reports say. This is Britain's fault and they are clearly in the wrong.
„The Runner“ story is very good and emotional

No effing way. This dude got Bloody April on what I can only assume is his first try, meanwhile it took me 10+ attempts to do it.

I just hope that luke knows these stories arent true. They're based on tales and stories but given additions to make them more enjoyable to play.
Well, the T.E. Lawrence story is true.
Liam Waltz Well once again, the story is based off of the Lawrence of Arabia, but the specific story itself is fiction.
@@liamw3205 As some has already said, although Lawrence of Arabia was a real man, the actions in the mission are fictional to represent many different stories based upon what he did.
The character you play as is based off of a real person and the first mission with the derailed train was also real but the other ones are fictional
@@onejediboi The characters are based upon real stories of real people but are not 100% real, their deeds and actions are over exaggerated. The mission with the train is also based upon real events, partisans often sabotage supply networks, but the way it happened in game was not realsitic, just made to be fun to play.
Man treating them rockets like AIM9 missiles lol
The pilot’s story is so unbelievable because everything after him getting freed from the boat didn’t happen, notice how he’s suspiciously close to the boat he escaped from? He jumped off and swam ashore, the point is he’s a liar and a conman and he’s telling this story after the war happened, making himself out to be some badass ace pilot hero
i cant wait for OH to play The Runner as I'm Aussie and its a part of Gallipoli SO HYPED
I've been playing the Ace combat games for yearssss now, and the newest one ace combat 7 feels just as good as the older ones. its worth a try tbh.
@TOX1C T3MPZ both great games, I just like the Ace Combat stories since it continues with each game for the most part.
I hadn’t even heard of ace combat until I played 7, easily my favorite game with air combat e v e r
One of the best missions in my opinion.
this is personally one of my least favorite missions, it was linear
Yeah
I wish Luke plays arma 3 with a couple of his buddies or just play the campaign cuz I think he'll like it
Eesh SinGer fr that game is pretty realistic
but he has to find a Milsim server or atleast play with the ACE3 mod, cause the Standard Arma is kinda bullshit if it comes to realism
Lots of army vets love playing arma tbh. Met plenty of them on there
definitely its awesome
I prefer squad but arma is cool too
The first part of this episode is great with Aces in Exile playing quietly in the background
I think this style of story telling fits battlefield so well because of the diverse mechanics the game has (i.e. vehicles)
*"New Zealand"*

M8, been loving the vids. Fight the copyright. Play some Alien Isolation on the geek channel. Stay strong
i know i’ve said it before but i really want luke to play the resistance series
Resistance is pretty bad
I’d be down for that, I’ve never seen those games
Just Maybe I really enjoyed the third one
Just Maybe really? what’s not to like?
Isn't resistance like terrible???
I can't believe rushrd through it without snraking, there were so many good dialogs !
The big zepplins are surprisingly resilient, much like the wood frame biplanes. They're mostly empty space, with the hydrogen stored in tanks on the inside. So it doesn't matter really if the canvas surrounding the frame burns, and if a bullet hits it it will probably go right through because there's not much inside them.
OriginalHuman: "so today we're going to commit more war crimes guys" lmao😆

Hey whats up brother! Been checking out your Modern Warfare videos and have been enjoying them. Really looking forward yo seeing you play Avanti Savoia. I love the mission bc its a badass opener but the ending...lets just leave it at that.
The cloth graphic on that big balloon behemoth is actually nuts🔥
the war in the Alps isn't talked much, but it was one of the harshest front: Vertical front, winds that bring temperature on -50celsius, honestly made Hoth looks like a weekend outing. Worst things of it all, it was that you could even shoot a familiar, because alpini and austrian alpine troops where recluted from the same zones and population tended to mix, so yah, you could have killed you uncle or your niece.
I was literally playing this exact story 1 hour before watching this
Luke I suggest that you play Resistance series and I'm sure you'll like it because of the fusion of Sci-fi and Military genre.
I still like BFV and play it almost daily. Story and kinematics are top tier. Glad you enjoying it.
Some would keep running, a solo bayonet charge is a last ditch effort when your pit of ammo and truly believe I'm dying for the fatherland (Germany).
Are you going to play medal of honor?
Depends, he does post Polls and plays the one with the most votes. Medal of Honor was placed Seconds and BF1 first last time so it’s most likely to be played next time.
I'm sure he will soon, he won't regret playing them, that's for sure.
Tier 1 & Warfighter were great, he'll love them but we just gotta be patient & hope when he finishes BF1, he'll move on to those Medal of Honor games. 🤞
He’s gotta play some airborne
Hey Luke don’t worry about if If people start getting mad at you for playing a game that you want to play all of your real fans will be happy for you no matter what game you play
Try out Warthunder! You can play with tanks, planes (and boats and hellies), from a bunch of different countries. The physics engine is really cool for the plane combat, and I've been playing it for 5 years now and have really enjoyed it.
There used to be a game i played on the PS2 called Heroes over the Pacific. It was very unique with switching between fighter planes, torpedo planes and dive bombing while based on same aerial battles of WW2. I'm not sure if it's available on the newer consoles though
29:16 ok......that moment was 10/10
37:40 Sorry, Luke, what’s that word?? 😂 I’m only messin with you, another great video
if you want a military plane sim, war thunder is free and pretty good (apart from the grinding). has planes from ww2 to the cold war, and tanks, and even ships
This games goes hard when you play the glitch mob remix of seven nation army is in the background
Glad your enjoying it, keep up the good work
Luke:I don’t like the guy am playing at
Me:Wait until you see spec ops the line
Not sure if it's your kind of stuff but theres a new star wars game coming out soon solely based on piloting which seems cool so that could be a flying game you could try! Love your channel mate! 💪🏽
The bombing section of Friends in high places is based on the Gotha Raids and the Zeplin raids that bombed the south coast and parts of London.
Play Medal of Honor airborne that game is lit
Also RDR2 is a really good game maybe try it
You should check out there Bugs the game had at release, especially in the multiplayer. So many of them are just absolutely hilarious.
Also the mission “The Runner” you play as an Australian as part of the ANZAC’s (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) who were formed at the outbreak of WW1 to combine the relatively small army forces of Australia and New Zealand. The Gallipoli campaign which is the setting of the mission was a British and ANZAC naval invasion of the Ottoman Empire (in modern day Turkey) at Gallipoli with aims to open up a new front in the war and try to secure the entrance to the Black Sea so that the allies could aid Russia. It began horribly becoming a bloodbath from the very start of the campaign. The most successful part of the campaign, was the retreat which the ANZAC’s managed to pull off with only a handful of casualties and was completely undiscovered by the Ottomans until the troops were already gone
The runner chapter is in the Republic of Turkey (
then it was Ottoman Empire) and the runners Australians
Love it how he calls The Ottoman Empire New Zealand
If you decide to play ace combat, try and make sure it's a classic one like Ace Combat 4 Shattered Skies. It's when the ace combat series really started to take off.
World of tanks and Ace Combat 7:Skies Unknown, since you were thinking about it, Ace Combat 7 is a fictional mixed with non-fictional story, fake countries and events, but real aircraft, realistic call signs,
I played real flightsim combat games and it very different than what have played as far. You got a to manage speed closely. You just can't pull up for very long, you will stall and drop like a rock. Or drive to long or your controls will lock up if you over speed. And not mention the G forces that will either cause a black out or red out.
If you want to play a fun flying game I'd recommend ace combat 7. It's military plane game with a decent story.
Luke you should use the bayonet, you sprint and press the right stick and you'll stab them while holding s rifle with a bayonet on it! Its addicting
World of Tanks and War Thunder don’t have a story mode but are amazing in terms of graphics and the number of vehicles you’d really like it
Basically, the first version of Master Chief.
The idea of a "super soldier" isn't new in war. Generals always have dreamed about some kind of soldier that was able to accomplish every possible task without fall by enemy hand.
Arditi was the italian answer for that task. Then came the various specialized forms of soldiers.
For the mountains we have the Alpini.
For the Ship-to-ship battles we have the Lagunari (Marines basically).
For the Sea we have the X° Mas (frogmen).
For the Sky we have the Folgore (Thunderbolt)(Paratroopers).
Italy formed these units long time ago and they was absolutely always up to the task.
But never like the Arditi. The Arditi, while not always satisfing in terms of efficiency on the battlefield, was that kind of soldier that ideally, was forged to fight and win every battles and every wars. By the way, after the war the Arditi units was disbanded and never re-formed again in every other wars in which Italy was involved.
There are 2 maps where you can play as royal marines which is port of zeebrugge and heligoland bight
Love this guy
Youre the only one that I had watched that makes friends in high places go rambo instead of sneaky sneak
You could try War Thunder if you would like to casually play tank or plane games. The grind to the jets and MBTs is freaking real, but I always prefer to play lowwe tier natches, since WWII tanks and planes are more fun to be honest.
Gaijin Entertainment is also kinda generous with sponsorship these days if that is something you're willing to engage with.
I love your content man you deserve 50 million subs
Luke " im brave 😊 "
Also luke " today we are committing more warcrimes 💀 "
As an Australian it hurt to hear him struggle to place who fought at Gallipoli
"They wouldn't keep running"
Tell that to the ww1 soldiers that were forced to run towards enemy trenches
Play war thunder, one of the most realistic tank, plane and naval game.
I second this!
He should also give Squad, Escape from Tarkov, and Hell Let Loose a try
Worthless pretty good actually my battle rating is three for Ariel
War Thunder doesnt really have a story, so dont think that Will male such a good walkthrough... He could react to the Trailers of the game, and who knows, maybe he would end Up liking the concept and end Up checking out the game
War thunder has no story and the gameplay is like playing with a halo warthog that's unsatisfying, it may be realistic but not very fun to play
if the aa truck part was in multiplayer you would have been shredded in seconds
Ace Combat would be an awesome series for you to play, starting with 4, because that's when the proper games begin!
9:06 The voice of the audience!
Like seriously Enemy AI, WHY?
First I didn't like the american, but then I warmed up to him with that ending.
The war stories in Battlefield V are amazing also.
The last tiger is like the only good story lmao
No wtf, they're so souless.
Can’t wait to see how my man reacts to playing COD Cold War campaign for the first time!
LUKE you can play warthunder.
It has naval air and tank combat and is really fun once you get into it.I really recomend
U should play verdun, it is a realistic ww1 game. If u do play it you should get the discord in bc not a lot of people play it right now and if you get enough people you could do trench charges and stuff
AC7 would he fun to see, and hearing you mention tank games and flying games gives me PTSD of war thunder, play that game at your own risk because it gets frustrating especially after 6 years of playing
Fun fact the artillery gun in avanti sovia you can actually enter in multiplayer
Don’t forget to play the “Last Tiger” war story it’s on Bf1 as well
It's not on bf1 it's on bfV
48:18 I mean, they were used to charging machine gun fire, so in WW1 some of them might
If you want to play a flying campaign play blazing angels it’s amazing but it might only be on 360
I loved this level but i had hoped for the game there would be A LOT more fighting in the trenches and “going iver the top”. The intro scraped on it and was good but mannn if only that intro had been a whole war story. I love BF1 and its graphics and guns the people , but i had hoped for MORE
if you like the air missions and tank bits then you might like war thunder maybe becuz they got that stuff
Suggestion: with your scroll thing for the members try and slow it down a little
Love it!
I love the ace combat games and would love to see your take on them
DID I JUST HEAR THE VOICE OF RAIS FROM DYING LIGHT IN AVANTI SAVOIA
Luke, have you looked at Warthunder? It’s got planes boats and tanks
I would suggest IL-2, but since you express interest in both a tank and a plane game, maybe you could play War Thunder, in a similar manner to your Warzone gameplay.
If you remember your characters name in bf3, that Blackburn is a descendent of this Blackburn
U do know u have a bayonet charge amd can mele them when they get close right? All u have to do is run and press right analog stick
Bro love love this content so much I think you need 9 billion subscribe
Ace Combat is my jam I would love it if you played it on your channel!
oh yeah, Luke, IF you want air combat, try War Thunder. I have played it but only for a few months. You can choose between tanks, aircraft, and battleships. But you're free to choose any. Better yet, the vehicles are based on real vehicles from.. somewhere in history. You can also play as Great Britain (what a coincidence). However, just like me, humiliation is very present when you play Arcade.
Combat flying you say, may I recommend IL-2 :-p
More of that!
I would honestly love to see you play either outlast or alien isolation they are both amazing games
This mission calls for a stealthy approach......
Luke : CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGE!!!!
Luke, Ace Combat 4 is the best in the series but you'll need an emulator to play it since it's not on PC
Mate, do yourself a favor and try Ace Combat. The easiest one to get into would be 7. Not the greatest story, but gameplay is spot on and you're in for a hell'va good time. As far as good story goes for the Ace series, I jump back and forth between AC5 and Zero.
