      true, some of the younger soldiers (18-20) in WW1 thats survived would probably be killed in WW2. Just because of how more deadly WW2 was compared to WW1, smarter technology and way more strategizing.

      I never ear they used flamehtrowers or smg, they was melee specialist with armor with strategies based on stealth and surprise (specially night assault), and more they was specialised in making prisonners (they was higly rewarded in money for making prisonners or taking weapons from enemies).
      You are not mobile, stealthy and you can't make prisonners with a flamethrowers.
      Maybe they have some pistols, but not more. Because they traded the weight of firearms for an armor.

      Miguel Alberto Japan had 5 million mobilised troops on it's main territory. They were nowhere near to surrendering, also it would have been like going against their culture, which was all about honor.

    Something I find really cool about the Arditi, is how they were Italian, and basically steel-clad knights in a war caught between the old world and the new. What's more, Italy was known, literally for centuries, for making some of the finest suits of armor throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance eras.

    for anyone saying that the armor wouldnt protect them well no shit but you got to remember one thing he is telling a story to his daughter so he might have changed it a bit. kind of like friends in high places. all of the campaign are titled war stories there stories told later on which means the story changed a bit

      Gmansniper I've been to museums where they've shown the armor a lot of it was a sign of Honor like a true warrior for the Italian people it was a very motivating thing to see these men take rounds and continue fighting now they didn't take rounds the way this game made it seemed it was primarily a defensive armor machine gunners are snipers that would expose their heads or forward artillery advisors sure this game over did it with the drama butt Italian soldiers back then had this code of honor between fellow soldiers and seeing a man take bullets like that and shrapnel damage and still get up and fired his weapon motivated all the men behind him to do the same so I guess the game went with that glorified courage

      The arditi never actually wore that armor. The same as they never carried that machine gun around. I watched a series who rated this game and said it is really realistic exsept 2 things, the anti tank gun took 2 men to operate not 1. And the arditi never wore that armor.

    I just love how this war story was written. The exaggerated retelling of events with the background of realism, just like how a vet of a war would describe it. The second part after the collapse of the mountain turning the beautiful landscape into hell on Earth, the physical embodiment of the hero’s courage and duty to his country with his shield and sword (or in this case armor and MG08/15) and the general sense of the importance of family, a staple in Italian ideals and culture, and the sacrifice of war. A masterful campaign level in an already astounding game. 15/10

    Oddly enough Italian soldiers did occasionally wear armor which looked just like that...but it was actually to protect against falling rocks in the Dolomites and alps

      Barack Obama Politics is always more complex than you think and behind every war there is only one thing: money.
      In this case the war was started to conquer the region of Trentino Alto Adige (where Dolomites are) and defeat the Austro-Ungarian Empire once and for all, which was a plague to my country for a long time (in Northen Italy). But the reason is always the same, conquer territories = more money for the state. Same for our African colonies = more money.
      War is all about getting more money and common people suffer.

      As an American, the only thing I knew about WW1 was. U boat sunk a passenger ship carrying a number of Americans. Germany tried to get Mexico to declare war on us. We declared war on Germany. The UK, French and USA beat Germany. War ends. Its sad that a video game piques my interest and causes me to research. Any Italian reading this, those Arditi units were some tough and fearless guys. You should be proud.

    First time I did this story, I pulled off a Doom Comic. (You know, "guns are for wusses" "man and a half" and then the big gun gag thing).

    Apparently i may have a great grandfather that was posthumously awarded for stopping an austro-hungarian attack, in the italian army of the great war. Never even knew about it until my dad was talking about it, i should look into it if its really true, seems like he may have been one of those badass machinegunners using a Villar Parosa
