  • How to replace a DJI / Ryze Tello motor
    Here I fix a Tello with a broken front motor. The goal was a clean repair job with minimal damage to the drone. It took somewhat longer than in the video. A bit over an hour should be ok for the fix.
    See the list of materials below.

    Thanks for the great video! Love the way you are trying to make it look "not bad". Perfect work. And very interesting how the man with a speedmaster on his wrist is fixing a toy for 100$😁

    To avoid the fidling with the motor wires there is a simple trick:
    Before removing the motor solder it's 2 wires together to a thin peace of wire. when removing the motor you will pull the attached wire through the hole. now desolder the wires and solder both wires of the new motor to it. than use the attached wire to pull the motor wires back through the hole.

    Thanks for the excellent video, I feel that I know everything I need to know to replace my non-working motor. Also there are some good suggestions from your followers to make the job even easier, which if you hadn't made this video I would never know, so a double thank you!!!

    Hi, i think there's an easier way to this. Just cut the wires at different length (so you don't have the solder-joints right next to each other) somewhere in the middle of the legs, cut the new wires correspondingly and solder them there. No need to open up the bottomcover and risk damaging something on the mainboard. Regards

    hi, the problem with my drone is that I pulled the drone propellers and the motor went out and the wire broke. Can I solder the wire together? or does it not work

      There is a Video on CZcams: „how to repair mini coreless motor“. That might be worth a try if you’re on a tight budget. But I‘d rather go for an new motor.

    Vielen Dank für das hilfreiche Video! Gibt es eine Möglichkeit die Motoren zu reparieren? Ist es möglich die Kabel nicht von der Platine zu lösen sondern an einer Stelle zu durchtrennen um sie mit einem neuen Motor (+ Kabel) an einer anderen Stelle zu verbinden? Sehe den Vorteil als Lötanfänger, möchte die Platine nicht beschädigen. Vielen Dank!

    • @AReResearch
      @AReResearch  Před 3 lety +1

      Beides ist möglich: man kann die 8520 Motoren mit micro JST Steckern bekommen und das passende Gegenstück unterhalb der Kabelführung an das von der Platine kommende Kabel anlöten. Nicht schön, aber machbar. Auf dem YT-Kanal von Toolshacker gibt es ein Video wie er einen 8520 Motor repariert (Kabel und Bürsten ersetzt). Das ist aber ziemlich gruselig und sehr fraglich wie lange man daran Freude hat. Selbst eine verbogene Motorachse, wie sie bei Crashs gelegentlich vorkommen kann, würde ich nicht gerade biegen sondern den ganzen Motor ersetzen.

    Have you tried replacing a rear motor ? There seems to be an additional 3rd wire ??

    • @AReResearch
      @AReResearch  Před 6 měsíci

      Fortunately I had no more failed motors. But I know what you mean: The additional wire is the WiFi antenna. It does not go all the way to the motor.

      @@AReResearch btw I tried replacing the motors, but it didn't work. It seems like their is no electrical output to the broken motor's wire when flying, whereas all the other three motors work.

    • @AReResearch
      @AReResearch  Před 3 lety +1

      If you are sure, both cabling and motors are fine, then the motor driver is blown. You will need to replace the mosfet transistor on the PCB as described here: tellopilots.com/threads/motor-driver-ic-mosfet-type.2165/
