  • In this second installment Don, with Turnbull Custom Guns continues with the preparation of the rifle receiver and goes over the steps necessary to properly polish a rifle with flat sides. These are some of the more difficult rifles to prepare properly for bluing. Stay till the end and you get to Meet Oliver Twist of Windy Hill (long Name) our English Sheppard, along with Rosie (Great Pyrenees) who actually does more than lay on the ground in this video... Action Shot!

Thanks Paul, I’m a small gun shop in Maine. I haven’t been in the NRA magazine. You are probably thinking of Turnbull Restoration in New York. They do great work but on a much larger scale. Same last name though. Thanks for watching. And I hope you will continue.

I have a 1920s vintage J P Sauer mauser , that has really nice black bluing, but it's lite in spots, I'm guessing it's rust blued if I'm not mistaken I think I can degrease lightly polish & card it & continue the rust bluing process, No ? also I'd prefer to leave the half octagon ribbed barrel on , any reason I can't do it assembled? I have some old barrels and frames I'm going to practice on first

It never hurts to try a partial blue as long as you are prepared to do a complete if it doesn't work out the way you wan't.

@Turnbullcustomguns hey I just watched a guy using an induction heater, I bet it could be used to bend a bolt & control the heat much better than a torch
