When ringabells theme kicked in during Bravely second it felt like seeing an old friend.
Same for when Baby Bird played when Edea first showed up in Second. A happy reunion, after a long time apart.

ThatLazyGamer 22 Violinist was like " f*ck it i am a artist on a rise. Whore" when s/he heard that s/he would be tasked with making character themes with violin(and playing violin hurts a lot if you play it too much) and then s/he just puts up rocker outfit and start playing eletric guitar while chanting "you can't tell me what to do since you are not my mom!"
From the titles alone, one can assume that while the BD themes were supposed to represent the whole character, the BS ones were more like just their battle themes.
Yeah, but they lost so much character with it! Remember in the final boss they used the special themes in the first game to get you pumped up? Well, I have NO idea if they did that for second, because the whole thing just sounds like generic guitar riffs! Bravely default had electric guitars in it, yes, but not JUST electric guitars!!! :c I even thought of perfect instruments for Yew, a trumpet. It would have been perfect.
Magnolia is harder to do a instrument for though....

All of them are really great songs, but I find the original 4 way easier to remember (from start to finish) and more "unique". I love Bravely Second themes (f yeah those guitars) but they all kinda sound alike.

João Sorry for being so late but what i believe is that even though it’s a different composer with their own style i believe that the reasons why in the first one they are so unique is because that they are fighting with the others for different reasons Tiz to either help protect the vestal on her pilgrimage or to find a way to restore his home Agnes to restore the crystals to their former state in hopes to restore the world to its former glory edea to fight for her ideals ringabel to either find out who he is or GIRLS in the second one their cause is much more uniform it is “Save the vestal from the clutches of kaiser oblivion” any way that’s what i think about this whole special theme buisness
@@BIuesunshrike That would also explain why Magnolias theme stands out from the other three (being a little bit slower-paced than the others). Magnolias has also another goal besides "saving the vestal", namely busting Ba`als.
Being that Edea and Tiz are in Bravely Second I feel as if they should have had something like their Bravely Default themes but different to show something about their character progression.

4 years later and ringabel's theme is still best
It does feel a bit as if Default's are more like "character themes" while Second's are more like "special move themes." I think that feel overall is why I prefer Default's, but it's hard not to feel pumped up listening to Second's! My favorites in each game are probably "Windward" and "I'll Finish Them Off!" respectively.
For me, it's "Love's Vagrant" and "I'm Getting Serious".
I've always been partial to "You Are My Hope" and "I'm Going All Out!"

"I'll Finish Them Off" is a good title for Tiz 2nd theme , but I like how the original Japanese version was simply titled "Kick Ass!" XD

@@werh227 nah Yew was the black mage now because they finally realized they should separate black and white mage while Magnolia was the White Mage even though it made no sense. Edea's always been more of a tanky strenght character so it would make sense if Tiz was faster but I can't remember if he was, I could have sworn he was still a jack of all trades

I only now noticed... The first four themes are all together are a major part of 'the serpent eating the ground'! God i love the music so much!
I can see why people dislike the Second theme... the first by Revo is Symphonic Metal which Revo himself admitted is tailor suited for a fantasy setting. Anyone familiar with Sound(Linked) Horizon will agree with me. The Second is all round pure metal with somewhat arbitrary Orchestral elements thrown around here and there. It's definitely a different genre.
Well Bravely Second went from fantasy to steampunk
Bravely Second also just sounds very identical which makes it bland, whereas BD and hopefully BD2 has signature cues and instruments that makes it sound more hype
@@lowhp_comic Right, symphonic metal tends to do that but Revo is particularly liberal with uncommon instruments like bells, chimes, panflute, bagpipes, saxophone, accordian, electric violins, etc. And he makes sure he mixes them to make each soundtrack has its unique flavor. I think he's just an all-rounder genius
For me “you are my hope” and “loves vagrant” are the best I honestly can’t tell which one I like more
All the special themes explained for bravely second: Yew wants to protect those around him and his friends, and most of all, wants to figure out why the orthodoxy is the way it is, and why his brother would do such a thing... He is determination. Magnolia wants to help her new friends in whatever way she can , not because her way of life was threatened, but because she is the meaning of loyalty... friends helping friends through thick and thin. Edea wants to prove she's grown up and ready to be a leader, by aiding her companions and fighting to once again save the world, and help her friends make the right choices and herself as she decides what each sidequests ending is, she is an able and empathetic leader. Tiz... Tiz fights to regain those years he lost, and fights for Agnes. He fights so that no one else has to lose their family, and so that no one has to miss the years he missed. That's why his music sounds like desperation more than a rallying cry.

Somewhat out of the topic of the songs themselves, but there has been a fair amount of talk about how things in Bravely Second retrace the path taken by Bravely Default (most notably that Default started in Norende and ended near Eternia, while Second had Eternia visited early, and ended things in Norende.)
Another factor related to that is how the party assembles:
-In Default, it was in the order of Tiz, 'Maiden' (Agnes), Edea, 'Bookkeeper' (Ringabel).
-In Second, it's 'Bookkeeper' (Yew), Edea, 'Maiden' (Magnolia), Tiz.
That said, it's always the last member to join with the best theme.
Tiz is actually my favorite character in both games it's such a shame that he doesn't get much character development as say Edea, Yew, and heck even Anges.
He shouldn't change either because he is a precious cinnamon roll just the way he is

Remember that these theme's are for special moves and they only ever play in battle. I completely agree that Bravely Second doesn't really characterise well with it's themes but you can't deny they're awesome to listen to during fights.

Pretty much like those animes we watched where the main characters themes start right before they start kicking lots of ass or about to deal the final blow, but in a video game, this is easily one of the most hype things this game has done. Along with pokemon sword and shield actually taking advantage that the gym and league battles are in a big soccer stadium and incorporating the cheering crowd into the music.

I'm still cant believe Tiz went into coma after saving the world just to wake 2 years later and his friends are like "yo people stole your girlfriend." Then proceeds to help save the world again all while never cutting his hair or technically out of his pod outfit.

Hm. I like "I'm Getting Serious!" well enough, and "I'll Finish Them Off!" keeps getting stuck in my head. "I'm Going All Out!" and "Don't Underestimate Me!" are alright. I just... man this video reminded me about how much I missed "Love's Vagrant" while playing through Second, Ringabel's theme is easily my favorite of the bunch.

Cause special move chaining is just about essential for victory, at least it was for a good 80% of the run. So Yew's easily got stuck in my head since it was playing nearly constantly.

Edea is obviously the best character in the Bravely franchise, there's no question about that. Of course, that means her theme has to be the best as well, which it most definitely is!
I genuinely think that the Bravely Second character themes are awesome and definitely are overhated
But I can see why some don't like them very much; even when they all sound great, is definitely a step back to have all four themes just be guitar riffs for the most part
Yeah. Second's soundtrack isn't all that bad. Some of the battle themes are actually pretty good like Battle of Oblivion and Battle of Anne. And the non-battle themes are also pretty good like Yew's Theme, Magnolia's Theme, Altair's Theme, and the Sagitta Village theme. While Ryo's style may not please everyone, at least you can tell he tried his best in Revo's absence.
I love when Tiz says "I'm not pullin' any punches" in Bravely Second
and is better and funnier when you use the monk class with the knuckles or bare hands

Ringabels is the best theme in bravely 1 as its the most hype song for a special attack, and tiz's is the best theme in bravely 2nd as its the most different sounding, plus it sounds the coolest.

Miguelangel Ortiz-Yepiz I had her as a summoner except when I needed a mass dispel (Made Acedia a cakewalk) and Used Tiz as Salvemaker as healer since I already had Ringabel and Edea as main damage dealers so I had Agnes as main magic damage dealer

I actually like how the themes sound so similar in Bravely Second. They all mesh together well when you're chaining moves. That being said, BD's themes definitely have much more personality and are very fitting for each individual character.

Second's OST as a whole was better than the first game's. By combining music from both games there was enough variation for most/all of the game to be entertaining unlike the first one which did suffer when it came to music in dungeons and bosses (due to the amount of boss fights, but lack of tracks).

My favourite for both games are tiz's themes. They're themes that really signify hope for dire circumstances, but felt in different ways that still represent him as a character.

The Bravely Second themes are strictly "special move" themes that play when you activate their special moves. Yew and Magnolia have their own actual character themes that are titled Yew's Theme and Magnolia's theme respectively.

Tiz's theme in Second sounds like they planned him as a boss character (which sounds pretty cool) but then changed him to be a playable character instead and recycled the theme for his special move.
It would be great to have the 4 OG as a sidequest bossfight in Bravely Third.
Tiz's special attack song in Second outshines everything, it screams heroic.
my favorite thing about bravely default themes are the fact that you can tell who's theme it is. Like when you hear that flute, you know its Tiz. Each instrument is characterized to that character. You can hear the music narrate the story of that person which makes it all the better. In bravely second, its fine but it lacks that "uniqueness" and "flair" default had. Its hard for me to distinguish which theme belongs to who. The music really is just for pumping up.
All of these are so good, really get you in the mood in Boss Battles, I really don't know which one is my favourite, they're all so good in their own way! I wonder if the themes in BD 2 will be able to keep up once I get to buy the game.

I'm so disappointed that they decided to go with basically just electric guitar for the BS character themes. Part of the appeal was that each has their own instrument. It made them all unique in BD. In BS, Eden and magnolia's themes are just not really distinguishable.

Mate, the world was flipping screwed in Default.
A flipping massive chasm swallows an entire village, most of the water is putrified, the winds stop, a city nearly gets flooded in lava.
i felt until a certain point it felt more light-hearted throughout, but in second it just had a darker tone

Of course Default didn't imply it, it outright showed them dying.
Yeah, some of the songs fit the darker mood, such as the new asterisk battle theme, but the games were about equally as dark. BS had way too much of an issue with the soundtrack feeling samey, with all the songs using the same instrumentation.
Here’s a fun tip to know on how to defeat the final boss without dying on the hardest difficulty:
1. Have all the characters have this skill from the Vampire skill tree where when you die you can resurrect yourself over & over again.
2. Give all of them massive healing from any of the healer class types (preferably mage since most of the spells are less costly)
3. Have a shit ton of healing items & Phoenix feathers on had because my guide to this might not work whatsoever.
4. Bring skills & items that can reflect his damage back to him.
5. Boom, you are done with this guy.
