As soon as I saw the Yogurt give instructions on how to clear the US' debt within a year, I knew it was an analogy for AI.

Notice how you can voice an unpopular/controversial opinion as much politeness and fairness as possible, but you'll still be at risk of demonitization, cutting off a pathway to financial stability.
Wow, that completely flew over my head. The fact that the yogurt was just an analogy for AI. Now the story makes a lot of sense.

I should have caught it even though I’ve only seen this series once, (intend to rewatch ) I missed that china joke thinking it was just some fun poke at how they own almost everything but the next economic offer thing you said sums it all up beautifully
2:35 just thought I'd pop down here to say that the movie Summer Wars 100% begs to differ on the whole "as long as the AI doesn't have a physical form, it won't be a threat" thought line. Seeing as the main antagonist of the movie is an AI without any physical form but is able to cause massive amounts of damage (including deliberatley getting someone killed and nearly the entire main cast as well) from inside a massive online network that essentially is the whole of the internet in 1 centralized hub. It also acts as a kind of indirect commentary on how extremely heavy reliance on technology could really screw humanity over in even just a single night.
so essentially something like the technological singularity
