  • The Gyrojet is a family of unique firearms developed in the 1960s named for the method of gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles. Rather than inert bullets, Gyrojets fire small rockets called Microjets which have little recoil and do not require a heavy barrel or chamber to resist the pressure of the combustion gases. Velocity on leaving the tube was very low, but increased to around 1,250 feet per second (380 m/s) at 30 feet (9.1 m). The result is a very lightweight and transportable weapon.

I've seen hundreds of guns and how they work but I never seen this mechanism before

What is the effective range for this?

I think Ian from forgotton weapons says it has such bad accuracy that at a 100 meters it holds a 7 foot group. Don't know long the range is but it seems its optimal range is below 100 meters.

@@Bagginsess so basically get within throwing range

@@weswolever7477 it will do virtually no damage until around 7 feet. And because it moves so slow at first the wind greatly affects it. I would be more concerned of someone with a tomahawk then this lol.

@@Bagginsess I was watching a program that featured the Gyrojet. The person talking about it said that if you put your finger over the end of the barrel and someone pulled the trigger your finger would stop the projectile without any harm

@@weswolever7477 yes. Ian from Forgotten weapons said it was leaving the barrel at a non lethal speed, I think 1 meter per second but I can't remember.
