Two things I learned from this.
1. Having 5 rounds isn't enough for the British.
2. The French aren't in much hurry.
That mad minute though
They sure don't want anyone to have more than 5 rounds ANYWHERE anymore.
Wonder if they forgot about these rifles?
They sure didn't want mag limits when they had them.
Perhaps the Brits were compensating for the French? Please don't laugh at my terrible joke.
Neither is the French's food
3. China was making weird designs before it was cool
Every other country: "one clip or two and here we go"
France: "loading each round with murderous intent"
France took personal to a whole new level 😂

The lebel was created in 1886 which was invented before the stripper clip which was invented in 1888, it was pretty normal at the time to manually reload each bullet into a bolt action repeating rifle until 1888. Nice joke nevertheless 👍👍👍

@@TheWhoamaters 'Cause they're designed by developers living in big cities, and probably have never touched a gun in their life.
Been playing Cyber Punk 2077, and I swear, the guns in this game look like they used cursed gun images for reference. I think the developer's understanding of guns is "put magic box inside other magic box, then bullets come out magic tubes."
I know that game isn't going for realism, but when your trigger group is quite literally blocking the path of the bolt carrier, and your magazine is at an angle so great feeding ammo is impossible, kinda breaks the immersion.
Yes but not enough speed to join the army if it were WW2 rn

there is a way you can do it to make it pop off. you grab the top round by the bullet and angle the end of the case downward and it pops the clip off before you work the bolt. kinda hard to explain but there are tons of vids.
The top angled round trick doesnt always work. The authentic clips with no cuts work the best. Ive cut myself on repros.

Military leaders: "We need detachable mags to ease and speed up reloading"
This guy: "Why?"
Ig hes pretty good but in a different situation like a war.. geez I would drop my strippers and individual rounds on the ground hahaha
I know I can reload my Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 2 faster with chargers than dad, uncle, cousin and brother can with magazines
Honestly, I still think the M1 en bloc system is the best of both worlds. Speed of a detachable magazine reload with an internal and more reliable magazine. Plus the weight reduction from not having to carry all the extra mags. Only 2 real issues are the open action design necessary for such a system and the capacity limitations.
the idea with mags is they are higher capacity, and can be fed with strips if needed. youd need to thumb in maybe 6 clips to get your average 30 round magazine full, just far quicker to change magazines at that point, theyre easier to pull out of webbing too, rather than fiddling with 6 clips in your ammo belt, you just whip out one magazine and slap it in. magazines are still generally reloaded with clips though.
@@1337penguinman
I think they could extend the magazine capability but it would become heavier for an internal than an external detachable magazine
i cant describe or begin to understand how stiffing this is, just hearing the clicks and clanks of the metal parts of the guns, its just so good

Watching this puts a bunch of stuff about the relative merits of these rifles in contrast. In particular, watching the k98k and 91/30 back to back is quite effective. Also, that no1 mark iv bolt open is so fast you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a straight pull!
I love how back then they would make absolute monster calibers
Bullets have gotten smaller as time went on. Given how only well trained soldiers can pull off rapid, accurate fire with bolt action rifles (an example being the British Expeditionary Force), bullets were probably big back then to ensure that you would kill what you hit with your slow firing rifle. That and typical engagement distances weren't very well established until WWII happened and people found out "even if the rifle/bullet works out to 800m or more, soldiers out of basic training dont tend to shoot that far anyways" since post WWII nations gradually moves onto intermediate cartridges (though this was a slow process, the M14 was still in use in vietnam after all and the M16 didnt exactly have a great debut)
