- In this episode we take a look at all the models that were completed before Bunker Six was set up. This is barely scratching the surface but hopefully will be a nice little showcase of some very special releases from all the different versions of Epic over the years.
**Update**
Thanks to user crumbum2 for noticing an error in the video
Last model is intact called an “Imperial Fist Lander”. This model was released for Epic Armageddon.

Ha ha must be weird huh?! Hope you like the content!!
@@BUNKER6 Found you looking for epic Armageddon videos. what are you act known for?
Thanks for the question, I am a musician called Frankmusik. That is what Luke was referring too. Cheers!
Ah those dreadnoughts! I've got 4! For me the most coveted were the forge world true scale thunderhawks. But the epitome of '97 epic 40k were the razor backs, vindicators and predators with all the stowage. I spent all my paper round money on them and still have the originals I bought back then!
That’s awesome. Those dreadnoughts are the cutest. You may be happy to hear I have all the Thunderhawk variants that you’re talking about. The rhino transport and the land raider transport along with two of the originals. I will paint this on camera for sure. And I agree the 97 sculpts had such great detail. As good as the full size models considering their scale. I think you will like the upcoming episodes for sure. I have all the stuff your referencing and a TON more, FW included.
That Space Marine Landing Craft! 😍 praise the Emperor, my jaw literally dropped open when I saw that model! 🤪
It’s a chunky boy that’s for sure! It’s a fight between the lander and the thunderhawk rhino transport for me!
10:00 Your Mole Mortar and Marine there are part of a very small range of Marine figs that were released alongside the original Adeptus Titanicus game. AFAIK they were randomly thrown in packs of metal AT blister packs (ie Titan weapons, Reavers, Warhounds) and intended for use as base dressing or terrain add-ons to make the size of the Tiatns more obvious. As you noted they hadn't exactly gotten the scale thing down pat at that point and are close to 8mm - so some Primaris that fell through a time Warp, I guess? :)
They were discontinued when Space Marine dropped in 1989, or at least that's when I stopped seeing them show up in newly re-ordered blister packs.
Yeah the great thing about them is that rules were released for them in Codex Titanicus, so whenever you got a few of these you could sprinkle them around your army and give it more character. They did some Ork and Eldar models too.
I heard a story from a guy I bought a bunch of stuff from that he shopped at a store up in Maryland back when Space Marine v1 was first coming out and this guy who was one of those guys GW paid to visit gaming stores and teach people how to play games (doubt they do that anymore) and he was going to demo Space Marine. Anyway, this guy was sent the metal versions of the epic marines you see in the old White Dwarfs at the time. Well the bases for those figures were way too big for the bases they were to be mounted on and this poor guy had to trim all those bases before mounting them on the epic bases lol. Not that the plastic really fit any better without trimming, but plastic is easier to deal with.
Interestingly I never saw those metal figures sold, even though they sold the early Marine vehicles in metal like the Land Raider. GW did Eldar ones too I had a few of those guys as well.
You seem to know a heck of a lot so a quick question. Do you know if they ever released the Krieg Rapier Laser destroyer that is featured in the swordwind supplement? I’ve never seen it in the wild…
@@ktg8030 Oh, GW definitely had people going around to stores demoing Space Marine when it first dropped around 1989. It wasn't "some guy" either. Our FLGS in Schenectady NY (Armadillo Games- long gone now) was one of the early indie stores to stock the full GW range, so no lesser light than Jervis Johnson himself came out to show us the game. He brought a couple of handfuls of the metal infantry figs as participation sweeteners (like he needed that) and wound up at the local diner with us afterwards. Had all sorts of plans in the work for the game, some of which happened, some not so much. The one I always wanted to see but didn't get was a Space Marine dreadnought transport - a Rhino chasis that had the crew compartment cut down and turned into a platform that would comfortably fit a single dread and haul it into combat while still letting it fire its weapons.
@@BUNKER6 I'm afraid I've never seen one in person either. Probably unreleased, but can't say for certain.
@@richmcgee434 Jesus that would have kicked ass
Great video, mate. The vultures and valkyries were sold by FW in resin and in their Aeronautica Imperialis’ true scale at the time. They were _also_ sold by GW, in metal, but they were smaller, which is what you have. Cheers!
So many variations. So interesting. Thank you for the info!!!!
The vVanquisher came in a tank company box with another 9 normal LR‘s. for the EA Rules Release, got one box of my own here
Is it forumware?
Awesome video 👏 loved the music, voice over and editing - minis looked amazing too 👍
Thank you so much! I will try to keep the standard like this throughout.
Just found your channel, loving the epic 40k content, always been interested in the system and a potential remake given the new Adeptus Titanicus stuff coming out and love seeing all this retro stuff!
Thank you Angelo!! I’ve heard that the game system Apocalypse is similar to the 1997 epic game system but I’m not sure. I hope to be the biggest provider of consistent content for Epic 40k (1997 onwards editions).
I hate to say this but I am not hopeful for a new Epic scale system to be released as it would eat into there regular scale model sales. AT doesn’t eat into any other profits for GW as it does not compete with any other models. But I would love a rerelease of Epic but in a scale that matches Aeronautical Imperialis which is more like an 8mm scale instead of Epics rough 6mm scale. Anyway. Next video will show all my space marines collection that needs finishing. It’s a lot. Hope your enjoy!
Really love that bonebreaka man. Smashing paintjob. I´ve got twelve of them myself.
Thank you!
Great video to watch while painting my 12 epic scale sentinels. Looking forward to the next one. Since buying a 3d printer I've fallen in love with small scale miniatures and it's awesome to see someone put so much effort into some quality content given that there isn't much Epic content to begin with.
Great to hear your getting some painting done! That’s what this channel is currently all above. Shedding light on Epic (mainly the last two editions). But yes, there really wasn’t much content out there for these little things. So knowing I had a vast collection I bit the bullet and took on the challenge. We will see how it goes but thanks for the motivation!
Lovely miniatures, all of them! This was a wonderful trip down memory lane 😀
Thank you so very much. Nostalgia central here!
Got to admit, the already painted stuff are fantastic.
A great blast of nostalgia.
Also really want a dreadnought myself too, fantastic little minis.
Thank you. I hope to try and get better in these future videos. Happy holidays Rat Matt!!
I’m surprised by how much I like these models, I don’t know much about them, I remember games workshop near where I used to live & thought they were interesting back then but never went into the shop to look 👀 great work vince!
Cheers Stevie. They are a lot of fun. If you have the time that is!
Wow. So glad I found this. I played Epic in Jacksonville, Fl at Wardogs game shop. Such good times.
I’m jealous! I never got to play myself when it first launched. But I’m playing catch up all these years later ha ha.
Great video, always enjoyed epic scale models!
Thank you so much Hikkachoo!!
Great video and collection. I really should paint more of this myself, it's a great game. Concerning the different colors Landraiders, I know the original big box had a green and blue Marine army to play against each other as a first version of the Horus Heresy. I know that these sprues were also made in light grey, other sprues (including other races) in these colors and even beige. Besides the split in the bases box I wouldn't know why, but funny enough the 28mm Marines and Vehicles where beige too.
Thanks for the great insight! The different colors is all quite perplexing. Here’s hoping you can get some more epic painted up this year! I’ll be releasing paint videos finally so maybe that can give you some inspiration! Stay safe! Cheers
Cool that you share a similar story as me, actually starting your Epic collection after it was canceled by Games Workshop.
Nice! It’s a shame I was too young to really get into it the first time round. I guess it’s just catching up at this point :)
You've convinced me to assemble and paint my Imperator Titan. Yours looks increadible.
That’s great!! I have a couple more to paint up too. Good luck and we’ll done for getting the job done!
@@BUNKER6 Make a video on that, if you would. I'm a horrible painter, but enjoy the hobby.
Any Squats hiding in your piles by chance?
For sure I’ll make videos on both. One will be a full official Warmonger Conversion and the other will be a conversion of my own design. I am yet to buy any squat stuff although I live the designs of their war machines.
I love Epic. It's my favourite GW game 😊.
Great choice! I may be biased though 😅
@@BUNKER6 I'm painting my New Legion imperialis army, it's so great to have correct scale this time. Baneblades 😍😍😍.
@@flo6784 Join the discord! We'd all love to see your progress!
@@BUNKER6 OK, how can I do that, I'm not really familiar with Discord ?
Great production, intriguing voiceover, beautiful vintage minis. If i may give an opinion those bases hurt the models. The bushes make the scale seem off, and the brown plain with green grass patches clashes with the pretty desert paintjob you gave to your army.
Overall im envious of your minis. Hope i can play Epic some day.
Thanks so much! I agree and will redo all the bases for sure. I have learned a lot since I worked on most of these models. I guess I could make an episode out of it :)
@@BUNKER6 looking forward to it, Epic looks like fun
Incredible, your intro video represents my entry into epic especially regarding the imperator Titan on the Titan legions box.
I also spent over 20 years away from GW and I don’t know what happened to my titans etc
I am trying to recollect the original epic box sets.
I will subscribe, and you mentioned Horsham or West Sussex, I work there regularly.
I envy your painting of the imperator Titan, I will own one again I hope
That’s awesome. It’s comments like this that make me glad I started the channel. If you have the eBay app you can set up alerts. When a new one is listed you can be emailed about it. Picclick is useful too. Also Epic buy and sell Facebook groups could be useful.
I went to a secondary school out in Horsham. Nice part of the world to be sure!
Thanks for the sub and if you need any help with the hobby. Just let me know! Happy new year!
@@BUNKER6 thank you for your reply.
I’m so behind and likewise was overwhelmed with all the new Adeptus stuff such as the Horus heresy and the grand master edition which will stay sealed
I refuse to buy the imperator Titan on eBay sealed for £315
I know he’s worth every penny as he is probably the centre piece of GW!
You mentioned in your video that you have loads of imperial paladins? Do you have any not on 1994 sprues (lol) that you don’t want ?
@@BUNKER6 I have also found some of my original citadel paints such as Chaos black, putrid green and blood red, these hopefully will ring some bells regarding the imperator Titan
So jealous. The smell of those paints will immediately transport you back to the good old days for sure!!
I reckon Facebook will be a great resource for the Titan and the knights. If you search Epic 40k or Adeptus Titanicus. People are always selling stuff. Substantially cheaper than eBay too! Happy New Year.
Great vid man.. but you really need to add a SM era Eldar army to that list, had some amazing sculpts (especially the Warlock Titan and Tempest SuperHeavy)
Firstly thank you for joining the discord! Secondly, since this video I decided to buy every model featured in the Stormwind supplement so I’ll start posting videos of those soon enough!!
@@BUNKER6 Fantastic! Looking forward to them, I’m learning a lot from your approach to painting which is way better than mine
That’s great! I just copy here and there from what I’ve seen in books and on CZcams :)
Loved this video. I still have a 70% unpainted SM and 40% unpainted ork side from the start epic box + a unpainted/assembled Warlord titan :D Maybe should visit moms basement and paint em!
Heck yes!!! That’s so awesome. A great sounding collection. Nothing quite like a Warlord titan! I hope you get some stuff done and get some games going! Cheers
Thank you this is amazing.
@@mephiston9 thank YOU for watching
amazing paint jobs!
Thank you so much! Plenty more to come!
Nostalgia gold.
Really struggling to find any decent epic sets to get started - ideally I want the main game set.
Yes the main sets complete can be very expensive. What you may have to do is buy pieces over time on eBay like I kind of did. Or 3D print armies or buy proxies. The Miniwars website can help with proxies lists. Let me know if you have any further questions. Happy to help!
Pretty sure that Specialist did some Epic releases for IG back when Epic Armageddon was done which is where the metal Valks/Vultures are from. Mid to late 2000's from memory. Around the same time as the Lucius Pattern Warlord Titan model.
Interesting stuff Atma! Thank you for the additional info. I have only managed to trace physical media as far as 2005 with the sword wind supplement. Then I guess as you said they moved everything to specialist and into a website for a while. Was the Lucius Titan different from the ones from 1997?
@@BUNKER6 Sorry, I had a look at the dates and apparently the Lucius was from 1997 during the Epic 40,000 era, rather than from later during the Epic Armageddon era that Specialist did. I could have sworn it was later than '97. So I could be wrong about when the metal Valks are from as well as I supposed they could have been based on the FW 40K originals rather than the later plastics.
I appreciate the clarification!! Good to know! More imperial guard coming up in the next episode!
great stuff, well worth subscribing
Thank you Michael!!
The video is great mate, great voice over and holy heck you have a lot of cameras XD. Here I am using one like a chump haha
Thanks so much!! I failed to grab the footage off of the go pro and the camera to the right for this video. But next video everything should be working! Still new to all of this so technical issues will keep on shorts if me for a while I’m sure. Really glad you liked it though!!
If you have any questions in regards to gear I’m happy to let you know what I use.
@@BUNKER6 no worries mate, I do love my gear :D I am running the Sony a6400 atm usually with a Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens it does me well.
Also if you have a private place I could message you, I am an admin of a discord group for youtube creators in the miniature hobby. Let me know if you would like to join :D we have over 100+ creators now ^_^
That’s a great camera and a great lens! Good work! I’m such a boomer I have no idea how to use discord. I tried it once and was very confused ha ha.
@@BUNKER6 haha no worries mate, I ended up messaging you on Instagram as well. But if discord is not your thing that is all good :D thought I would offer.
Oh how I wish I'd never sold my epic collection, 3 imperators 2 warmongers 20 warlords all old beatles I never took to the milk float then 10 Reaver's 8 warhounds 2 ordinator 20 super heavy tanks of then simply tons of guard infantry tanks and artillery and to finish it all of a huge number of space wolves with more transport and armour than you could shake a stick at. I seriously loved epic I had collected since space marine and titan legions but got sick of GW treating it like an after thought in the end and sold the lot.
Awesome comment Karl! Great to read your epic collection. If you ever consider becoming a collector again there is a thriving scene on Facebook and a lot of what you mentioned is still available on eBay! If the prices are too high you could also consider a 3D printing service. There are plenty of designs of infantry, tanks and even terrain on quite a few sights that resemble many of the models you mentioned. There is also a “Net Epic” rule set that people keep going and from what I’ve heard it’s a great rule set. Epic was indeed side lines like many things during that era but I hope that this channel gives you some motivation to get another collection going or just hobby in general! Thanks Karl!
The metal mole mortar came out after the original space marine box set... with metal robots, landspeeders and support weapons.
Thanks for the info!
Imagine a table full of scattered drop pods unleashing their angels of death. 😵
Some might say it would be pretty epic ;)
Cheers! I also fell in love with Epic around 1995 and as a broke kid, would drool in the hobby shop. Sold my Eldar army but kept my imperial guard and marine armies in the attic for decades (25 yr hiatus from the hobby). Is it possible to play this game still?
Hey Duke! Thanks for your comment. Glad you still have some of that vintage goodness!! The Eldar costs a pretty penny these days! But having any Epic stuff at all is awesome in my book. There is a resource called “Net Epic” which is a community driven site that keeps the rules updated in an unofficial capacity. But they are the most comprehensive place for up to date rules. In terms it official rules they ended in 2005 roughly. In terms of playing the game again I recommend joining some Epic 40k Facebook groups and see if there is anyone in your area to play! Good luck.
There are at least 4 versions of the Basilisk i can think of, and i have them. The one you have looks like the non GW version on the market.
Hi Tom! Thanks for your thoughts. If you flick to page 34 of the Epic 40k Battle Book you will see 3 variants of the Basalisks sculpted by Tim Adcock. The model in the video is the first of these three sculpts. I have the other variations too. I try to be as accurate as possible but I seemed to have missed the Epic Titans release. So yes there are at least 4 versions. Thanks!
@@BUNKER6 That is another one, yes. The original from "Space Marine" in catalogue 1 (horizontal gun) im fairly sure came with the 30° angled gun too. Then there was the "Titan Legions" ver in 95/96 annual with angled gun and less detailed/more armoured chassis. Then the "Epic 40k" ver from 98 annual which had 4 different hull and gun variants. Next might be the one you have then? Then i guess it would be the variant with the enclosed/boxed gun housing, is that the Mars pattern??, which i think was around the Epic Armageddon era.
@@BUNKER6 so yours is a multipart Epic 40K version then looking at it, just looks better more like a single cast mini than a mutipart. Good job.
Very thorough! Thanks and I hope folks who read the comments see your updates. I’ll try to be more accurate. I get so confused by the earlier editions due to there being the “Titans” blister packs along side the space marine blister packs. That was a little before my time and info is a little patchy online. I have some old white dwarfs but didn’t catch this one. Thanks for clarifying!
The gw Valkyrie is half size, the bigger models from gw were 1:600 not 1:300 like the worlord titan, the forge workd ones are the correct scale
Excellent insight. Thanks!!!
Hey on the Capital Imperialis, which is one of my favorite models of all time, uses the plastic tracks from a now out of business model company called JB Models. They released some military vehicles in 1/76 scale and one of them was the M113. So GW used the wheel/track/chassis sprue from that set for this and the massive drill thing. JB did go out of business and their models can be pretty pricey on ebay, but… Airfix did end up with the molds and did release that kit in a new box (calling it 1/72 I think but it’s really 1/76). So the point is, if you find an Imperialis on eBay in crappy condition, just buy it strip the paint off the metal, then get the Airfix kit and you’ll have brand new tracks.
I’ve seen some peeps say the tracks came from the Airfix 1/72 Tiger but those peeps are out of their minds. Look nothing like the tracks that came with the Imperialis.
So interesting!!! I cannot believe how much you know. Incredible insight. Thank you all these comments. It’s helping me understand the hobby so much more.
@@BUNKER6 Well, 1/76 (and sometimes 1/72) tank models is another one of my vices.
The original kit: czcams.com/video/3NRzNzHiw50/video.html
Airfix version: czcams.com/video/3-JC8124F0Y/video.html
I forgot the Fire Support vehicle in the same JB models range has the same track/wheels/chassis so you can use either.
what rods do you use for your planes?
I got the from my local model shop. Their hollow aluminum tubes about 2mm think. Might be able to find something online if you type in those specifics. Then I just spray them black.
You shouldn't feel the slightest bit guilty about forumware stuff or 3d prints. Games Workshop abandoned Epic, and are a titanic bully of a company who treat their fanbase like trash. Any moral qualms I had about buying resin recasts from some sketchy Russian guy vanished the day GW tried to sue to gain ownership of the very term 'Space Marine.'
Fair play Benjamin. Can’t fault your decisions. I understand the modern issues that GW is walking into through legalese and I am glad to just focus on a time when GW seemed to be in a simpler and more joyful place like the 1997 era. But share holders gotta be share holding. I’m not sure what the future holds for GW but I am glad to just know that GW at one point in time was responsible for a very happy point in my childhood that I am trying to enthusiastically recreate on this channel. But thanks for the comment and thoughts Benjamin!!
Vanguard Miniatures has been doing yeoman's work expanding Epic as well, and their recent sculpts are second to none. Very nice option if you prefer the heft and relative durability of metal for most things, although they've got some resin and 3D printed stuff as well now.
Ha I’ve bought some recasts from a sketchy Russian guy as well. eBay managed to permaban him because he sent me a letter through the mail saying so. So I guess GW really worked that one hard because he kept changing his name and opening new accounts.
Would you ever consider 3d printing an epic model in 28mm scale? Some of them would be insanely epic! Pun intented
I would potentially for personal use. But I do not want a run in with the GW legal department. So I wouldn’t make a video on it.
@@BUNKER6 Well firstly thank you for taking the time to reply. Your painting skills are incredible. I saw your latest video in my recommendations so now I'm going back through and watching the old stuff. Really amazing work
You’re very kind and very welcome. I’m a small channel so I try to reply to everyone’s comments. I have a long way to go with the painting. But there are only so many hours I can stare at these tiny things ha ha

Epic was the best.
Net Epic now though, not Armageddon...
I will have to learn NetEpic now I have my board nearly ready
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 'this model is super rare, so lucky to have one, didn't think you could buy one...' But /never/ mentions the NAME of the model!! What is it? What is 'super rare'? It looks pretty cool, but instead of calling it 'this model', maybe next time you'll actually name it.
Thanks for letting me know about the error! I get to the last model and forget to name it (face palm). Will add the name in the description of the video. Cheers
Updated and gave you a credit in the description. It’s just called a Lander though. Or Rhino transport.
Great stuff, lovelly to see! I love that Epic Armageddon Warlord.
I wish they did not push big shit into 40k and kept Epic for that...
I know it will never happen. But I’d like to see GW do a re-release of epic. I just doubt it will ever happen.
@@BUNKER6 It wpld be awesome but I think they are cagey too.. the kids want the stupid shit in Farty K and Age of Trash sadly, big hinkers and OP crap..
Not cool, small things and a game that actually needs a strategy and tactics.. ;)
It would undercut their large models too
@@BUNKER6 yeah, which is a shame.. I never thought pushing 40k like that was a good idea.. But for sales, income.. I guess it was.. Too bad..
Thank goodness for 3D printing I guess to keep the scene alive. I mean I only buy original stuff. But for those looking to dabble printing is great
Those original Land Raiders and the colour.. My brother bought the second edition box and the Eldar were iirc grey, orks dark blue and the Land Raiders green. I guess to give them all different colours?
Very cool!
@@BUNKER6 We played with the straight off, unpainted and it did help.. But my brother painted his Beakiez later, Blood Angels iirc.
