In Spain, any folding knife is called “Navaja” so the name for this specific knife is “Siete muelles” (seven springs) due the seven characteristic “clac, clac” noises when is unfolded

I am Spanish. The knife is usually smaller than those, it is handled by one hand, not by two, in the duels to death with one hand they handled the knife and in the other they wrapped clothes as a shield.

What's interesting is that he lost not because of the blade itself but because of the handle and how he fastened it. I haven't seen this episode, but I would imagine that he's not used to making folding knives or this kind of work, but his blade work is solid. I would definitely buy a fixed plate from him

Guilherme Quinta actually just looked it up, they were fighting and utility knives. Don’t doubt they were used for hunting as well though sometimes. So In fact they were just like today’s pocket knives, used for whatever the circumstances required

Just so it's clear:
99% of navajas are waaay smaller than these, and are utility knives, to be used while on the country to cut cheese, bread, to ease harvesting... They were never really intended to be used in fights/wars any more than a pocket knife.

I'm pretty sure that this particular weapon was not typically wielded two handed but I'm actually pretty sure that depending on the situation someone probably would have thought about doing it and not to mention it was still pretty cool seeing it slice through the deer carcass like that however I still would have liked to see what it would have done with just one hand.
