Hey red beard! I've commented about this on a different video on this kart and on instagram, but that turbo isn't gonna work very well on that engine without an air capacitor built into the charge pipe!
BoostedBoiz made a video on this with their turbo'd shopping kart and it greatly improved performance for them. Basically, the intake valve is always closed when the exhaust valve is open on a single cylinder engine, so the turbo never actually gets a chance to feed the engine compressed air at the right time, so the boost capacitor "stores" the charged air for when the engine actually needs it.
If you did decide to add an air capacitor, you'd need one that's 4.4 times your engines displacement, about 880cc's, so a 3"ID pipe that's about 7.6" long would be ideal for your engine size.
No matter what you decide to do though, I love the hell out of this build man! Keep up the good work!

@Kevin Comfort A supercharger would just work better no matter what for that little diesel, running it off the axle would be tricky because he’d need a bypass valve for when the kart is still or moving slow, running it off the engine would be a better idea because it’d be less complex and easier to run piping.

Timing Advance is VERY VERY Easy on that engine. (Should be the same as a Yanmar Clone)
Just pull the pump and Remove *ALL The Shims!* Or.. you can order different sizes.. And some times you will see they used more then one shim.
If it has "no shims" you need to remove material off the pump..
all depends on your location and sea level LOL
Not sure how much power you will get out of that little 3HP Diesel.. I Am Sure she can hold 3600-4000 RPM Before your values start to float
(VERY EASY to Turn up RPM) "One Screw"
I am VERY VERY Use to the Yanmar L48 , L70, L100Type Clone Diesel Engines.. I have has over "100" Of them.. I found a GREAT Deal on 5 Trucks Loads of them LOL!

A turbocharger can work on that engine but you are going to have to do some magic. Unless you figure out what needs to be done the turbocharger can actually restrict engine performance.
If you are adamant on adding forced air I suggest a supercharger.
If you do find a way to modify the internals of the engine I do hope you make preparations for a runaway diesel event.

Every dollar I have saved up on my sh1tbox Ford truck, I bet that Chinese diesel is pretty much a Honda clone made to run on heavier fuel. If that's the case, I bet all the aftermarket parts for the gas small block Hondas/Clones/Tillotsons/Predators will fit on that Cheng Chang diesel.
There is a 406cc big block version of this engine on Amazon as well. I'm sure that is also a heavy fuel version of all the said name brands and their gas big blocks. So I'm sure the aftermarket parts meant for the gas big blocks will also fit the big block diesel engine.
