  • Hellcat Supercharger installed on 6.4L 392 Scatpack & now have dyno results. Is the Hellcat Supercharger worth installing on 5.7L or 392 Charger/Challenger? Let's find out the HP gains. The Hellcat Supercharger is a solid upgrade & great supercharger for the right price tag. The stock 6.4L 392 can only handle 6-7 lbs of boost so the WHP gains will not be the best but the Hellcat Supercharger does a solid job. Most Whipple or Magnuson Superchargers are in the 150whp gained range - will the Hellcat Supercharger be in the same range.

    If you can find a Hellcat guy wanting to upgrade and he has a low mileage blower he pulled off for a good price this would be an awesome option. Any blower is going to make more power than you can pulley for on a stock short block. If you have to buy new the 2650 Maggie would be a better choice for similar money since it's an upgrade for the Hellcat guys. I've always been curious about this route so thanks for another great video!

    The good thing about going the hellcat blower route(I would chosen that route myself) is if years down the road if he needed to replace the blower for another OE blower for what ever reason he could find a replacement, as opposed to going the aftermarket route and not being able to find a replacement because the proprietary unit is no longer available or the company has gone out of business. Models, and kits get discontinued, and companies have gone out of business.

    A Hellcat blower is a solid option. However, I think I would prefer the centrifugal because it is easier on the drive train. Because the centrifugal has a rising boost curve and doesn't make peak boost until you hit redline, you could run a little more boost. That Scat Pack is a quick car and would probably run about an 11.2 in the quarter mile.

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  Před 3 lety +1

      I was leaning Centrifugal for a while. But I think positive displacement might be the route. I like the torque & overall gains throughout the RPM range.

    • @hu3.789
      @hu3.789 Před 3 lety +2

      @@RTLife - I can understand why you would feel that way. The positive displacement supercharger better fits the personality of your car. It would make a good race between you and Modern Red Hemi. Although you have the forged internals and the engine will take higher boost, I wouldn't go crazy with it with the stock transmission.

    Just to clarify the centrifugal chargers are compressing air 100% of the time, where as the roots blowers are not due to the throttle body mounting to the intake side. In conclusion the roots blowers only take crankshaft hp when they are under boost and can be more efficient. If the car is a race only car this matters 0%.

If I'm correct (not an auto mechanic) this mod would be pretty non invasive and still provide a substantial bump to my scat, correct? How much, all in would I be looking at? I know it depends on the price I hafta give for the sc, but..... $8k?

      If you find a blower for about 2 to 3k what they are going for MMX sells the rest of the kit out the door about 7k if you do it yourself if you pay someone plus the tune and the pcm unlock your looking at about 8k to 8500. Make sure you don't go anymore than 8lbs and that's pushing it cause the 6.4s can't handle that much boost that's max. And a killer chiller and meth is a great safety net happy hunting

    the company that sells the Hellcat Conversion kit will also install it.
    I cant think of a better idea than to let those who made it, install it themselves.
    This way, I know they know what they are doing and that fact that they have
    already done several of them, i know i will be good to go when its done.
