- 6.4L 392 V8 hemi blows up after Supercharger install. After the Charger 6.4L 392 engine blew - he built it into a 850whp & 700lb-ft 10.44 1/4 mile MONSTER running 15lbs of boost. This is the review after he blew up the Charger 392 Daytona. If you're looking at procharger or supercharger a stock 6.4L 392 make sure the tuning is perfect.
If you're looking to procharger or supercharge your 6.4L 392 Scatpack, Daytona or SRT - make sure to run lower boost & have a great tuner. Many bad cases of Charger & Challenger 392 V8 Hemi's blowing up.

@@RTLife alright cool I’m Johnny.perts
Did he replace it with another 392? Or was it a completely different block?

Got me nervous for a second. I'm running 7lbs of boost (edelbrock supercharger) on my 392 right now but when I heard he blew it up because he didn't tune it, I felt better lol.
7lbs is such a low amount of boost. You shouldn't have any issues with a good tune.
he had me scratching my head with the whole no tune part hahaha - that's risky stuff!
This is so funny because this is exactly how I blew me K20z3 in a Honda Civic si. 😂 installed loaded a base map from the company and felt the boost and just couldn’t help myself. Threw a rod bearing like the 3rd big pull. 🙄
That dude was a clown and whoever allowed him to drive that car without a tune is a clown.....please keep those clowns up there and don't send them down to South Florida please....we have enough New Yorkers ,we don't need clowns too...lol

That thing look CLEAN! Great look to go with the great sound!
it really does look awesome - I need to see this thing run at the drag strip
A great veiw, I like the de Badging of the Black 392, it does look cool & sounds great ! A nice car ! Cheers
looks to stealthy! What a cool build
Wow! What an awesome build. I am convinced after the Green CATs Headers, and blower put on and tuned up plus debadge on my Jeep Wk2 5.7 I would lmao if someone rolled up and said "What the hell is that?? A Grocery getter?? What?? Or a Cop asking me if its street legal....

Another great video buddy. Thanks for sharing! Wish I could find some Mopar gatherings down here in Texas. Probably are some just need to find them.
Texas has a big Mopar scene I thought - many of the youtubers are there. Do you have instagram? That's how I normally find out about meets

I love watching your videos brother . I’ve been following for a little while now and I gotta tell ya , you NEVER disappoint 👏
Thank you - I really appreciate that.
Totally agree. Black car with no badges looks so slick and clean!
Really allows you to appreciate the body lines & design more. Very stealthy ride he has
Absolutely! As soon as I removed the Hemi badge off the front fender the car looked so much more stream lined. The dodge on the rear taillights are next. Along with taillight tinted brake/ reverse. And also side markers. Love love love black even it’s it’s extremely hard to keep clean. Just looks so good when it is clean. Check it my Instagram @chmilar for some nice black challenger pictures. Also did a ceramic coating on everything rims included. So much easier to clean.
That ding though! 😂😂. Glad you came out bro.
Same here. Was nice to get out & chat for a little bit. Thanks man for the heads up.
Wow. Super clean & sick ride. You will be making that power too son!
That’s exactly where I want to be power wise - seems to be the best for street/strip. Would be very happy running low 10’s
When dodge said, the 392 is at max already. They meant it lol.
hahaha - def need to prep the 392 for air. Some drop in pistons/rods & you're good
😂😂😂😂😂
Just needs a good tuner.
Can’t trust a 392 for high hp performance a Hellcat or 5.7 is better suited for racing applications.
@@reborn9110 yeah but you gotta up grade the internals in the 5.7 or hellcat
Just remember it with great power comes more maintenance required 😉
Very very true!
Great videos as always, that's an expensive lesson on how much boost a stock motor can handle. First time hearing someone telling the whole story about not tuning after installation.
Yah most skip over the mistakes or blur it up. He was pretty damn honest. Either way, what an awesome build he has going.
Pretty nice ride! I agree with the Charger owner, black cars look way better with no badging. My '12 Challenger R/T w/M6/5.7 hemi is black also and it looks plain Jane with the early hood scoops and all on it......all cosmetic mods I've done are all very subtle, including the retro Mopar Challenger name emblem in the front grille.
Cool video! Thanks!
Looks so stealthy with no badges & everything blacked out. Good stuff!
Only if the calipers are yellow
Most beautiful engine bay I have ever seen on modern muscle
Yah he did a great on this build
That's why you need to rebuild the bottom end of the engine when boosting.
I have to agree on the black cat bit. That's why I only have the DODGE badge on the deck is off my Chally, but not sure for how long. Grill & fender badges are gone! Only MOPAR logos on my beast!
Looks so good debadged. Really has a clean look & shows off the body lines of the ride.
@@RTLife Totally concur! Plus it maintains my sleeper look. 😉
I met CThellcat at the track last year, super good dude! Car was running great that day.

The Scotty ding was awesome! I wonder what ecu that dude was using?
hahaha - always fun hanging with Scotty. Although I only had an hour to hang this time
That a nice all black Charger, cant wait for the twin turbos.
Same here. Can’t wait to get it back & have some fun!
That's crazy! I made 670 wtq on 150 shot nitrous and 550whp. I will need to get the trans rebuilt cause I'm close to grenading it
That’s a healthy amount of power - def pushing the limits of that transmission
Now that is the build I want to do to my Scat. It's beautiful!

I love the Monte SS - but it’s going to stay stock. It’s nice having a stock ride for daily use. It has 300hp so not exactly fast in today’s market but certainly enough to have a little fun with. I love listening to the 5.3L V8 in it.

Forged Internals (bottom end) is all it needed before the tune Brother!
Definitely nice sounding vehicles no doubt
Agreed. Nothing like a screaming Hemi ripping bye
I remember when I used to frequent Challenger Talk there were constantly two types of posts from 392 people. A. How much boost can I safely run on my 392 and then B. I ran X amount of boost and now I've got a huge hole in my 392. It didn't matter how many people told them to build, or stick with NA mods they always went down the same path.
They'll go all day with 5-7lbs an a good tune. Even E85/Methanol will help
I bought a strut tower brace from BMR. Followed the directions and torque specs and it would never stay tight. They wouldn’t do anything under warranty so I’ll never buy anything from them in the future due to not having confidence in their warranty.
money down the drain. Thank you for the heads up
Yup, exactly why I steered clear of a procharged SRT and bought one I did. Heard too many stories of the 392 detonating on boost. Keeping mine stock. Would love a Hellcat but can’t afford one so next best thing is an R/T 5.7 then do boost, cam, and heads. Seen some pretty mean R/T’s. What engine is in his car now after he blew up 392? Didn’t catch what he said.
Lmao, you still have all the stock BS RT seats brakes suspension TRans etc. You still will have to build the engine on RT to make anywhere near a boosted 392. Ad all the money up that i just mentioned. 392, do you have any idea how easy it is to do drop in pistons and rods??? knucklehead
Nice build. De-badge next to hella-badge!
The debadge looks so good. Nice clean & shows the body lines off
The black car sounds great!
There’s a saying,” with great MOPAR comes great responsibility!” 😉
I like that! These Mopars are so much damn fun
some awesome mopar.s there
yah this was a cool gathering. Def nice rides
Did he say forged bottom end? A little too much background to hear his answer. I did hear it was not a crate motor. Nice power from the Vortech, since the V3 is rated up to 775 wheel. The Vortech (centrifugal) is probably why the drivetrain has not blown.
Yes - fully built/forged 392. The wind was killing the audio in this. 15 lbs of boost.
I’m nervous about S/C my 6.4L as I’m on my 4th engine. 2019 blew during COVID. Took 4 months to get replacement and I filed under lemon law. 2020 blew this spring and I just got the car back about a month ago. 4 engines two cars. I have 1500 miles on the new engine 2500 on the car.
Yeah that black Daytona is clean!
it moves! He is doing a great job with that build
Them 392 at their power peak already. Sad
just need some drop in piston/rods
@@RTLife this is what I've been told as well.
Any future upgrades to that LS4 you driving 🔥
What did he do to run 15lbs off boost safely, I couldn’t hear him?
Mature car enthusiast love too see it
The max boost psi a 6.4 can handle is 6psi. 6.4 Hemi are not designed for Forced induction/positive pressure intake systems. You can build them to handle high boost. That is why the 6.2 exist. They destroked the 6.4 into a 6.2 to handle the boost reliability
I’ve bin running a whipple on e85 now for 35000 miles and it made 790 @ the wheels. Completely stock 392 short block. 15psi.
🧢
Prove it
@@Purpz710 You know E85 is what makes all the difference right?
Your emissions must be the same as a burger king chimney
Whatever.
Is that a 6.1 intake I am putting one on my 392 what cold air did you go with?
What’s he talking about new sidewall design on 315/50r17?
I plan on getting a stage 2 cam, and have my heads ported. Question your thoughts on getting a new intake manifold while I’m at it?
Sounds like you're doing an N/A build? If so def check out the 392 manifold.
Yeah with those fattys he has in the back. Definitely!
@@RTLife yeah NA for now hehehe
There is a lot of misconception with the 392 that it is weak on boost. Well if it is running lean you will blow any motor and if it does not have the proper gapping it will blow. The 392 is running at a higher compression than most of the hemis right now so the gapping is more important than ever on these motors.
yup. I would get some drop in pistons/rods & run around 10 lbs. That will have it making hellcat type power
15psi for the last 35000 miles stock engine. 790 to the wheels. We just upgraded the fuel pumps because it was running a little lean up top. Should make another 50-75 hp with some timing changes.
Freaking awesome
yah this thing can move!
You should do a subscribers cars compilation video with your voiceover added like an actual video. That'd be dope.
Homie threw a blower on it and didn’t tune it 392 can run boost up to 9lbs max reliably just have to make sure u upgrade throttle body port the intake manifold have long tube headers and a good intake and tune
Hey brother looking to start my build on my rt you have any info on where to get a 392 manifold! Great content love your videos !!!!!

@@RTLife thank you can’t wait to see your car out !!!
Tune it and slide some Boostane in it and it will be fine.
Agreed - tuning/fuel quality is everything.
If you ever took apart a car that runs boostane you see how it ruins the heads lol its shit for your car
@@S.trillhill not true boostane is safe for 02 sensors etc . The orange tint doesnt hurt anything . When your shit turns white with speckles you have problems . Give Brenton Brown a call down at Forza in Florida and ask him what he uses . He recomends Boostane Professional on everything !!!!
@@jeffbendertheenforcer5834 $100 says he only says that bc boostane gives him some sort of affiliate link so he gets money when u buy thru his code and or they pay him for sponsorships lmao
@@jeffbendertheenforcer5834 also boostane isnt going to prevent knock and keep the car running cooler which say e85 does compared to reg pump gas so therefore it makes even more sense to not run that garbage and run e85 flat out
The 392 is a great engine but it's not meant to be boosted.
Super low boost or drop in pistons/rods. I would probably do the drop in pistons & run 9-10 lbs
@@RTLife What is the total cost to do that? At some point the Hellcat just makes more sense.

Yea those Cast pistons cant hold much, I rather keep a 392 Stock...
yah - I would throw in drop in pistons/rods or do an N/A build with a 392
Hypereutectic, not cast. Either way it's the owners fault for not doing his research and tuning it

Another Quality Chrysler product
Is he running a Procharger or the new Vortech? All the Prochargers I have seen come in from the other direction and go through this weird little triangle box so it will fit. This setup looks much better to me.
That does look different. Prochargers always have the air intake laying over the manifold.
@@RTLife Exactly. Would be interesting to know because this looks so much better.
@@Gdesign959 I’m almost certain that is a vortech supercharger
@@RTLife That's what I thought when I first saw it. I would like to see that one get more common because the routing looks much better to me than the Procharger.

I heard you can safely run 6 pounds of boost with a stock engine. Any more then you’d want to forge the engine
Must if forgotten to forge the internals dummy supercharged a stock 392

What a beast right?!
Thats why they say the 6.1 and 5.7 is better than the 6.4 when it comes to handling boost

yes. it has an arrington 392 stroker (fully forged pistons, rods etc.)
Why is the ram there with all the goofy red pipes 🤣
What did he say is in there now
built bottom end, 15 lbs of boost, 6.1 manifold & heads I believe.
What Supercharger is that? Procharger F1A?
I see someone said it was the Vortec V3
yah Pretty sure it's a Vortech.
Debadged Charger next to the extra badged charger
so its still a 392 block? is it stroked out?
I believe it's still a 392 with built bottom end.
Yup im not running any boost in my 392 keep it all N/A
A 426 or 440 stroker with custom cam, that thing would be a monster!
@@RTLife Im gonna do a 426 stroke kit if my 392 dies
So that still has the stock 392 transmission? Wow
The zf8 is a beast. It’s in all the big horsepower stock cars. Hellcats Audi bmw, even the Lamborghini urus.
It can only handle 5lbs of boost unless you forge the pistons and rods and cam it
People don't get that the Scats are pretty much maxed out from factory. If you wanna do anything extra, you gotta spend the extra substantial amount of money and bulletproof the motor and at that point, a Hellcat would've suited you better.
yah you need to spend $$$ on forging the internals or cam/stroker kit to add real power.
FORGED INTERNALS!!!

Bruh these motors can’t handle boost reliably just buy a Hellcat motor instead of spending that much money in wasted cost of two motors.
def have to spend some $$$ but what he built is so damn cool
They can handle 5lbs of boost reliably and make over 600 RWHP. So you can make the same HP as a hellcat for $25k-$30k less.
@@danieljohn4603 so your telling me that when Dodge was R&D the Hellcat motor and reworked all the internals on the motor with forged parts that all along they could have just boosted a 6.4L with just 5psi and everything would have been super reliable? How come they didn’t hire you bruh?
@@piccolo398 I just stated facts. There are plenty of 392’s making the same power on 5-6 lbs of boost “safely”. Is it as safe without forged internals? No, but for another $2k or so, you can forge the internals of the 392, and then turn up the boost to 10-12 pounds and make 850-950 rwhp. Still cheaper than the hellcat. Then your only problem is braking everything else, so there goes another $15k on a built tranny, axles, drive shaft,etc.... at that point you would probably have been better off buying a hellcat, but my original comment is still true.
@@danieljohn4603 all true, except if you did a quality build then you used better parts than what dodge puts in any vehicle
I can't wait until the RGB lights go away as a fad... Looks so ghetto.
The 6.1 is still the Old G in my opinion as the best and 6.2 is a close second without Supercharger. 6.4 is already maxed out.
