    Hi
In this video I demonstrate how to copy the immobilizer data from an ECU Bosch EDC15C2.
Useful when you need to re-utilise a second hand ECU...
After successfully read the data from the chip, you can also reset/virginize the ecu, by modifying the contents and load them back into to the chip... but i am not covering that in this video.
In this video is just how to clone or copy the data from one ECU into another.

When you copy from the require immobilized ECU to the known good one, do you delete the program from the one you are coping to before you write the required Imm program to it? Thanks

I had a Lexus IS300 in shop for bad gas gauge and blinking low fuel light. Scan codes, nothing in ECM except P0420 and P0430, replace cats fixed that problem. Could not communicate with BCM. Pulled tank unit(easy) and the sender was ok. Boss said put a cluster in it. I decided to pull BCM, and it had corroded areas on the board. I cleaned the corrosion and reinstalled and it worked. How long, who knows. Called around, dealer, etc for new BCM. Remans were $325 and had to be programmed on car by dealer. New from dealer $550 and same programming issues. We cannot program in our shop. No equipment. I bet you could have figured this one out. Would have been an interesting case study.

Following your guidance and using blank soic8 eeprom, would it make sense if I read my with soic8 with clamp (no desoldering needed) and saved the .bin dump and then uploaded it to new eeprom (or erase and write to the existing one, that will mean I would have 2 identical IMMO coeded ECU's?

      Hi
      You are absolutely correctly...
The only thing is that some programmers, and/or some boards layout do not allow to read the chip while on the PCB... the best safe way is remove the chip... consider to read in circuit (while on the pcb), MCUs or big chips... for a 4 pin chip, safest way is removing... but hey, this is just my opinion and the way I do it...

I decided to try Xprog for Reading and writing (copy) on immo eeprom. From what I've found out Xprog is better for this than e.i. Galletto V54 from Fgtech. Any thoughts on that?
Eeprom is type 5P08c3 (sits in Volvo ECU - Bosch EDC15 11 ) (and probably other types later) Do you know if Xprog v 5.55 (about 40Euro on Ebay will manage this? (Looks like you maybe have an older Version, so it should work?)
There are so many different types i.e.: v5.55 - H7L7, CAS4, I2B5, S3R4 and so on. I've not found out what the differences are.
Do you think it is better to pay more to get v 5.60 (72 Euro), v5.74 (100 Euro), or v5.84 (160 Euro)?
    Thanks!

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 6 lety +3

      armando nika
Well, first you can look at the writing on them...
Then, when you start to get familiar with the circuits, you can see by also looking at the components around them...
The can transceiver for example, usually has a filter at some point in the circuit...

It depends... some cars don't even need the injector codes...

There is some variations... some ecus actually have the immo stored in the flash memory...
You need to know what you are dealing with before do anything...
