    What would cause the wires from the stator to get hot faulty stator or voltage regulator or both?

    Hey thanks for the video! before you remove the sator cover - do you need to remove the oil from the engine ?

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 3 lety

      No, you'll lose a few drops but you don't need to drain the whole engine. You do need to drain the coolant like I mention in the video, since the water pump is driven on the outside of the stator cover.

    Hey great video. Quick question, MY 2017 570 is losing it's charge when hot. Tested the stator hot and cold, ac volts and resistance is what it should be. Has to be the VR correct? Bike seems to charge fine until it gets up to temp, tan reads 12v at VR and battery.

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 5 lety

      If your stator voltage and resistance is not changing significantly with the motor hot or cold, then it is likely your voltage regulator. Thanks!

      Mine is doing the same exact thing. I just put in a new battery and it was good for about an hour of use then the problem returned, when it gets up to temp, after about 5 mins running it drops to 12.0 to 12.2. and will continue to drop if it keeps running. Any ideas, with Covid none of the service shops are open, and the one that is is booking 5 months out? Please point me in the right direction.

      Do an AC voltage check at the 3 yellow wires. They should all put out 30/50 AC volts when revved up. If so VR is bad.

    Any idea on a part number or link on where to purchase the large gasket? Figured I might as well since I’m pulling the cover off to change the stator. I’ve got a 2016 570 SP.

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 3 lety

      Usually no need to replace as it is a rubber o-ring type seal. You can see it here:
      czcams.com/video/qeKNqJ48IP0/video.html
      If it does need replacement, I think you'll need to source it from a Polaris dealer.

    I’m in desperate need of help and it seems to be a problem with many Polaris atvs and I can’t find much information on the issue. Have a 2015 Sportsman 450 won’t start, showing code 636 2, I replaced the CPS but it didn’t make a difference, took side cover off the engine to inspect flywheel and everything looks ok, the cps wire seems to be ok... will run for a second or two with starting fluid... any suggestions or ideas would be highly appreciated

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 5 lety +1

      If you replaced the Crank Sensor and it didn't fix the issue, I wonder if you have maybe sheared the woodruff key. This could let the flywheel spin on the crankshaft, and throw off the timing. This could explain it still having spark and trying to start, but not run. I would completely remove the flywheel and inspect the woodruff key, and keyway on the flywheel and crankshaft.

      Sorry to hear this, it is fairly common with the stock Polaris charging system on these models. I definitely recommend our dual output stator/regulator kit, it will solve the problem for good.

    Why does the oil need to be changed if it isnt tilted? If its on a flat surface should i be okay to change the stator out without doing an oil change?

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 5 lety

      Sure you can change the stator without draining the oil, but you will lose quite a bit when pulling the side cover off. If you tilt the quad up high on it's side or drain the oil it is a much cleaner job!

    Question I have a 2020 450 ho and I went in about a foot of water the exhaust was under for a second I didn’t hit the throttle it died and a after that it ran not so good I changed the oil and spark plug and would start weak and also when I hit the throttle it would die . Could it be the stator of voltage regulator ??

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 3 lety

      Most likely ignition related. The stator is well protected, not likely to be the problem unless you completely flooded the crankcase, in which case you have bigger problems. I would check ignition coil, ECU, and all wiring connections.

      @@Rmstatorinc it went to about the top of the low beans with water and the exhaust went under water and it stalled Bc I didn’t keep on the the throttle so now it just starts weak and stalls when I hit the throttle !:( it’s at the shop now tho. I’m hoping it won’t be electrical Bc then it won’t be under warranty but other than that it will be I hope . Anything else you think it could be ?

    Hi Evan,
    Thanks for the great video.
    I have a question that you may be able to help me with, I have 2017 sportsman utulity 570, I wanting to tow a small camp trailer behind it, I also wanted to take a waeco cfx 50 fridge, I'm wondering if the sportsman will be able to keep a 120 amp battery charged if I connect a Anderson plug to the bike, I have tried to look on CZcams but can't seem to find any info, you guys seem to know your stuff so I thought I would try asking
    Cheers from Australia

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey! It just depends on the current draw of the fridge. The 570 has a fairly powerful stator, so if you are using a very low power unit, it may be capable. Sorry it is hard to say without knowing the exact numbers.

  • @jerrypatton7924

    Why pull the water pump cover? Can't you just pull the hose to drain in and access the stator? Thanks.

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 3 lety

      Because the stator is mounted underneath the water pump cover on this model engine. You can drain through the hoses first, sure. But the cover will still need to be removed.

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 4 lety

      Your battery is probably in bad shape, it may need to be replaced. At least fully charge it on an external charger first. This is probably due to a bad stator, voltage regulator, or both.

      when I leave the jumpers on after it turns on let’s say for 5 minutes and I disconnect the jumpers cables it stays on but as soon as I put it in drive it starts blinking that it hot and turns it self off and I have to take the main fuse off and put it back for it to get power again

    U know u don’t have to put lock tight on the bolts I have done small engine work for at least 5 or 6 yrs and never used lock tight and I have never had any problems without putting lock tight on them.

    • @Rmstatorinc
      @Rmstatorinc  Před 8 dny

      Having seen the results of stator bolts backing out and getting stuck between stator and flywheel, I ALWAYS recommend using red loctite on the mounting bolts. It's just not worth the risk.

    I have a 2014 Sportsman 570EFI. I accidentally hit the kill switch with the engine running did not realize it, it was in the off position tried starting the engine several times with the key (ok it was dark and snowy out). After a few attempts I realized it was off flipped the kill switch to the run position and it started. Went back to plowing my snow. My ATV has a maintenance free battery, power winch for snow plow, Xenon headlights, Led Light bar, heated grips and some LED strobes on the rear near the tail lights, I also have a battery trickle charger I use periodically . The next day it would turn over as normal but not start. Like a moron I did not realize that after removing the spark plug from the engine I needed to touch ground for spark and kicked over the ignition looking for spark on the anode (none of course as i forgot it was not grounded) (I know enough to be dangerous). I used an ohm meter and tested the spark plug wire 0 ohms (destroyed it disecting), ordered a new one (on its way). In the mean time I check the solenoid (ok) windings on the stator on the 3 yellow leads and ground short (no short) and all leads checked out ok. Battery ground ok to engine. Checked the Crankshaft Position Sensor O ohms. Have not checked the factory voltage regulator or the CMU (no idea how to check the CMU) My ATV is in excellent condition you could eat off the motor I only use it once a week for picking up the trash cans and snow on the driveway. Any ideas why it wont start? CPS so far is the only thing but I could be mission something? If the woodruf key sheared would the engine start? Seems to keep battery power even with infrequent trickle charging so I am assuming it is getting some charge or did of the stator. I will probably upgrade the Voltage Regulator to one of your Mosfet after I get the engine up and running. If I need to open the crankcase and drain the coolant to check the Stator or shear key do I need to purge or prime the crankcase with coolant when I put it back together or will it fill? Also do you sell the silicone O rings for the Crankcase. Sorry for all the question but I have no way to transport the ATV to the repair shop. THANKS!!

    • @Mphonik2013
      @Mphonik2013 Před 4 lety

      Should have said the CPS is the only thing so far that I tested that showed possible failure at 0 ohms, believe it should show 1000ohm
