Hiking Deep Creek Preserve with Antsy

Maybe not so much a destination hike, but a nice day out, and my schedule aligned with another CZcamsr, so it was a good chance to catch up.
I also wanted to see if the boat ramp at Deep Creek Park would be a good place to put the paddleboard in on a future trip. I'm thinking of doing a loop using Deep Creek and the Peace River. Still undecided.
The birds of prey were big highlights of the day. A pair of Great Horned Owls and a pair of Swallow Tailed Kites were filmed, as well as a variety of woodpeckers. Also spotted a hog which I had to get pretty close to in order to get its picture. Close enough you can hear it chew. Eek! Lol!

Yeah! There were two great horned owls but they were very far off. Could only get one in the shot at a time.

I try to always be first on the trail and go extra slow. Helps increase my odds/luck.

This is definitely the approach I prefer to use. Sometimes I have to mask poor audio with music. Found any other channels similar to mine?

Good video. Been there many times. Used to be a camp site down by the river with a picnic table and grill. I see they've still got the donkey warning sign. 😄

We were both thinking there should be a campsite by the water. I saw the donkey sign online somewhere, so I had to go see this evil donkey. lol

for me it was the swallow tail kites which i've never seen not in flight.. and the red headed woodpecker which was my earliest memorable bird i.d. as a kid

Totally agree about the kites. Hardly ever see them sitting still!
