  • A bit of a Birding destination in Sarasota, FL, where we go into full on Birdwatching mode. Admittedly I was looking for as many nonfeathered friends as I could find too. Besides all the birds, there were tons of bunnies, a snake, some turtles, and a couple gators.
The Sarasota Audubon Society has bird feeders to attract birds in closer, as well as nesting boxes. Across the street from the big hill you'll find paths and a couple boardwalks through the wetlands.
Highlights from the trip were the baby common gallinules and the sandhill crane colts.
Was also nice to see parakeets, painted buntings, grey headed swamphen, purple gallinule, and a bald eagle. Pretty sure I filmed a rail too.(Sora maybe?)
I'm not much of birder as far as identification goes, but I do enjoy capturing new birds on camera, even if I don't always know the full names. LOL

Yes, 100%! There was one trail where you can get surrounded by bunnies. So cool.

Cool! I don't always know what I'm looking at, but try to get good enough footage for me to look it up later.

The fields are quite the oasis for wildlife considering the proximity to the Ranch and I-75!!😎

So true. I filmed so much, I thought this was going to be a 2 hour video.

That blue bird was beautiful, not sure what it's call.

If it's the one towards the end, it's an Eastern Bluebird.

Brilliant. I'm looking to take a trip to see that. This was in April/May? I mean, I'm 'close' like 7 hours away close but I'd hate to get there at low bird time. :)

I totally understand. This was filmed March 30th and 31st.
