- 45th Annual Ukulele Festival in Waikiki, HI on July 19, 2015 features Jake Shimabukuro, Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner.
Roy Sakuma started the first and original ukulele festival in 1971 and today the festival is an international event attracting performers young and old from around the world and an ukulele orchestra of hundreds of children. In 2004 Roy and Kathy Sakuma established Ukulele Festival Hawaii, a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to bring laughter, love and hope to children and adults throughout Hawaii and the world through the music of the ukulele. We admire Jake for his humble gratitudes to his uncles and friends in his community. For him, to pull time away from his tours, to return to his home is quite a commitment to his community. It demonstrates that he is grounded and knows where his roots are. He pulled off another greatness for the festival. Gotta love that guy!
I imagine going back to Hawaii is not that big a sacrifice after all. ;-)
You ARE the essence of "Aloha". I love your your music. I do not have much, but I am happy to offer what I have... for Hawaii...
Electrifying, stupefying, death defying, earth shattering. On perceiving this much talent, please nobody expect my rant to remain rational.
I love listening to this man playing that uke so beautifully played ❤❤❤
It's so impressive to me how even though Jake has been the best in the world for as long as I know, he just keeps improving as a player and a composer. I can't wait for his upcoming album!

Oh..he must be hawaian jaoenessse young man ..mix?...fantastic
does anyone know what the technique is called at 5:21 where he makes that ding noise
he's just hitting the harmonics.
(in the dead center of a string length, is the loudest harmonics. that's where you can just touch the string and it hits a different high note)
They're chimes. It's were on the strings just above the frets were the strings rings over harmonic tones. There are three points along the fret board were you can get them ring different tones.
does anyone know what brand is that ukulele?

Liav Cohen concert tenor
Liav Cohen the size of the ukulele is a concert

I used to question who the best was between him, James Hill, and Sungha Jung. I now realize how foolish I was for asking this.

@@joannabelmonte7880 I don't know, but I suspect this young man could pull a $25 ukulele off a shelf and make it sound like a million bucks!
看的我忘记吃饭了
it sounds like an electric guitar
that girl on the stage is moana.
does anyone know what brand is that ukulele?
It's a Kamaka: www.theukulelesite.com/kamaka-hf-3-d4i-jake-shimabukuro-signature-edition-tenor-s-181116.html
what was that !

Old man didn’t say woody woodpecker
Weird that he had had a hecklers at the start but just shut them up by playing well.
I can't do with 6 strings what he does with 4.
The hecklers were actually yelling at the girl who ran up on the stage
Nice job on that ukelele. It’s not my forte though. I prefer the six string over any other kind of guitar.
Did you watch the whole video? Say like... past 11:30, where some very un-uke like things begin.
Not seeing you on that stage.
Old man didn’t say who is this woodpecker
