    All great recommendations. I’ve had my compact tractor for 11 years and the only thing I’d add to your “must have” list is weighted rear tires with RimGuard or Beet Juice. Nicely done!

      I agree 100% and i did that. I should have mentioned it. Must have. Should be standard for safety reasons.

    Blows my mind why manufacturers don’t provide a proper lighting system since led’s are pretty affordable these days

    If you're clearing trees, I'd put a Saw Haul high on the list. It's a fairly inexpensive US-made bolt-on kit, and it holds a chainsaw securely and out of the way. I've seen people make their own by heating and flattening PVC drain pipe to fit the saw bar, then fabricating something to mount that, but for my money the Saw Haul is a well-designed and fairly inexpensive product.

    I bought a Broken Anvil Metalworks grill guard. I liked it because it was less expensive than some and only requires you to drill 2 holes.
    It fits really nicely and was easy to install.

    Anything that starts with Bach is a good start! I don't know if the B2601 has an exposed transmission fan but the BX23s does. An under belly fan guard is essential to prevent very expensive damage to this fan. Great video! All great suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

    Making the grill guard vs buying is all about the value of your time. I bet if you have to go buy the screen, remove the existing guard, cut the screen, weld the screen, paint the screen and reinstall the guard you are out some time. Nice video! I also have the B2601. Work lights front and back useful but never weld or drill your ROPS.

  • @kenbee1028
    @kenbee1028 Před rokem +1

    Regarding the grill guard, simply welding some moderately thick expanded metal to the front of the factory brush guard is probably THE cheap/easy/strong solution. Since my generous son recently bought me a welder, I made a project out of fabricating some fancier bolt-in sections made from 1/8" thick expanded metal and angle steel, and drilled/tapped the factory brush guard to receive it. However, I spent more than enough time and effort to justify buying one of those aftermarket laser-cut guards or having a local welder make what I ended up making myself. Unless you're looking for a welding project, spending ~$500 on a grill guard will pay for itself the first time it saves your radiator.

    I'm looking at a 2601 this spring. I'll probably just do a cheap mesh grill. That way if it gets poked with a branch and dented, no biggie. I think what I may do is painted black. Everything the same colour just ends up looking like a run on sentence if you know what I mean. The eyes need some contrast.

  • @customcraftsbybruceslaton4872

    As far as a grill guard, I bought a piece of stainless with 3/8" holes all over it. I'm still trying to find someone with a cnc machine to put the letters Kubota on it. or maybe just a big K on it. I think I have just about everything else you've mentioned. Good job!

    Hey Dave new sub here from Illinois! Just found your channel searching Kubota 2601. I see some familiar commenters so I must be in the right place!🤣 first of all I’ve been kind of looking at the 2601 so with your experience with it do you think it’s too big for a belly mower or should I stick with the BX series? I just feel like the 2601 is more capable for working with firewood and I like the higher ground clearance. All great tips for someone considering their first tractor 👍🏻👍🏻 TOA

    • @timbertimeoutdoors9836
      @timbertimeoutdoors9836  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for the Sub. My opinion on belly movers is they are a hassle, over priced and don't cut like a Zero Turn will. I am like a perfect lawn so keep that in mind here. If you can live with a less that perfect cut, and don't mind the time and hassle to change it out when you need ground clearance a belly mower might get the job done for you. Personally I think just spend a little more and get a zero turn and skip the belly mower. The BX is a awesome tractor. If you don't need the added loader capacity or increased ground clearance the B2601 gets you over the BX, I would get the BX. Its actually more comfortable and a nicer tractor. I have not tested the belly mowers on each of these so can't say which would cut better.

      @@timbertimeoutdoors9836 Thanks for the info Timber Time! Well I probably will use it 80%of the time just for mowing! The other 20 will be used for moving firewood rounds plowing snow etc.. I already know which one would suit my needs better but they always say buy bigger than you think you need🤣🤣 I just liked the added lift capacity and extra ground clearance the 2601 has but it will be cumbersome as a mower! Hey thanks for the info and keep up the vids👍🏻👍🏻

    For an even cleaner look, you can use plastic cable/wire clamp that will hold wire and attaches with a screw or bolt. Or, in the automotive field, often what's used is a conduit/wire/wire-loom routing clamp/clip and is simply pushed into a hole, as one side is built like a plastic rivet/pin/tree.
    Don't get me wrong-- zip ties are 100% legit option, they just _look_ ghetto.

    Amazes me how many people don’t understand the Kubota level indicator. It is NOT the sticker. That surface on top of the bucket is on the same plane as the bottom of the bucket. So if that surface is parallel to the ground, your bucket is level. It isn’t perfect, but it is better than a sticker.
