- Winter is fInally loosening it's icy grip on Colorado's 14ers and we took full advantage Hiking and Skiing Quandary Peaks friendly Class 1 East Ridge route on a warm, low wind, blue bird day! Near the Breckenridge ski resort, this is one of the most popular winter and summer routes of all the Colorado 14ers and for good reason. Avalanche risk is almost non existent in winter unless there are extreme conditions, generally only found during winter proper, and summer ascents are steep class 1 hiking only with obvious route finding. It does get crowded in the summer, parking by reservation only but, Breckinridge does offer a summer shuttle service from downtown. This is a great introductory 14er but, proper training and weather awareness are still required! Winter ascents do not require parking reservations and are best done on low wind days and using micro spikes or snowshoes/skis if fresh snow is suspected.

Great video, Karl. I always love your work. Really good stuff!
Thank-you brother! Lots of exciting plans for the up and coming season, cheers!
Great drone and video thank you. Heading up Saturday.
Great getting out there, glad you enjoyed the video, the drone footage came out as well as I could ask for. A fun day for sure!
Awesome video!
Big thanks Johnathan! Spencer talks about you and your huge channel all the time! If I can ever help on the production/cinematic side I'd love to help. . . Drone footage in the back country maybe?
Wooooooow!!! Just wooow! This is unbelievably cool!!!!
I know I talked a big game up there so. . . .I had to back it up somehow, LOL. Nice job Joana, "we made it!" I think you find my productions meet similar standard, cool unique adventures. . . Thanks for being a great addition to this one. Best wishes.
Awesome footage and info. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment! Love the feedback, please check out some other vids that may interest you. Karl
One of my favorite hikes both winter and summer! Love it!
I know, I used your recent pics off, I think it was, alltrails or google? I started following you there! Thanks Diana!

czcams.com/video/yrxW_1oTEHY/video.html. Be careful, as you know my trips can get a little “exciting!” I love the Ryan Road trip app if you want great beta including gps.maps that show you exactly where you are offline. Makes things way easier and less stressful. Especially in desert canyons where you can’t see shit, lol. Let me know what you think! Stegosaurus was super gnarly fyi.
Fantastic Karl! The videography is crazy good, especially the drone perspectives that kept coming with a perfect soundtrack backing!! AMAZING ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
It was amazing. . . honestly had some doubt about the video that afternoon and during review but, it all just came together during the edit! Thanks Brother!
Amazing video! New sub here!🥰
Thanks for subbing! Welcome to the channel, please check out some of our other vids that may interest you!

No Problem, I love it too! Lots more on the way and lots already uploaded as well, thank you for your support Brother!
Fantastic bro !! :-)
I need an awesome drone pilot's help Petr! Hopefully we can figure something out. As soon as I become super rich and famous we'll do the Dolomites, I need a guide and fellow pilot/climber!
@@KarlDeckerPresents I hope that someday I will go to the States again and meet you :-)
Great winter 14er summit. The snow condition seems average for skiing though. Saw much better condition on James Peak last year around this time. Personally I hate the idea of lugging my skis up that high. Did snowcat skiing at Loveland last week which was much easier :)
I'd definitely agree, crazy how you can read my mind, looking at St Mary's and James soon and similar situation. Thin cover. I do have a light weight rig and it is very useful for soft snow VS about anything else, really helped me zip down the slush for the last 1/3 of the descent but. . . over all, I do think I could have actually done it easier/quicker with micro spikes assuming I got down before too much thawing. . .Personally, I'm ready for some steep dry rock! this trip was great though, rarely climb stuff with others around and hanging out with them was fun!
So impressed by your filmwork Karl, and loving that drone footage. Which drone are you using? Your channel deserves a million more subscribers :) -E
Huge thanks Elise, that was a Mavic air 2s drone but a new tiny drone is about to come out, Mini 3. Could be perfect for you guys. I'll research it when it arrives and let you know what I learn. They definitely get some super cool shots, a PITA, and somewhat nerve wracking to fly but I think it's still my favorite camera. I'm excited. . . !
I can't believe how dry it looks this year, when was this?
It was a bit creepy, this was last Friday! Should be buried for early spring. . .
@@KarlDeckerPresents yeah the past few years when I have done it in early spring there has been a lot more coverage, hopefully we get tons of rain or we will have a smokey summer
What date was this outing?
It was a very dry low snow pack early April adventure..I would guess it’s good to go now just do you best to avoid a real windy day..Minimal avy danger on that route.
