TT's Lego games are really fun
I vaguely remember playing G-Force licensed game as a kid. It's a surprisingly decent third person shooter slash platformer with creative levels and INCREDIBLY goofy premise.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the GameBoy Color was a really damn solid turn-based RPG, with a soundtrack by Jeremy Soule! (of Skyrim fame)

I'm so mad that you called Wizard of Oz an Isekai story. Not at you, but at the fact that Isekai stories were super popular in Western books at that time and I never noticed that's what they were. How dare you.

@@kommanderkronk Nobody in particular got it perfectly, Japan has just had a recent obsession with the story trope. Like all trends, it has led to some very good storytelling, a lot of mediocre to bad cash grabs, and tons of memes.
Alien Isolation is the greatest apology letter of all time.
True that and also the Dev was only known for Strategy games of all thing and managed to pull off a Horror FPS as well as they did is impressive to say the least.
Call me crazy but am I the only one who didn't find Isolation scary? It's definitely an extremely good game and definitely made up for my childhood savings spent on Colonial Marines. But it kinda just seemed like 60 percent of the game is just sitting under objects and hopefully not leaving cover too soon.

King Kong still stands strong as a game set around the 20's-30's, there's not a lot of those.
All the post-game content like the museum and the filters really conveyed to me the sense of vintage I would later find so appealing in Bioshock.
King Kong Lives: Megaton Punch on the NES is actually a good King Kong game by Konami. Its a based (loosely) on the 1986 King Kong Lives movie.
The King Kong game tried many new things and alot worked. Some including not having a hud so you needed to manually check ammo and being able to find exchange and utilize many weapons gathered from allies and surroundings. With the human parts being genuinely tense at times.
Everyone always forgets that The Witcher is liscensed.

As a man in my mid twenties, I can't believe I'm only just now watching Gundam for the first time (despite being introduced to it over ten years ago with Gundam Battle Assault 2).
If Japan has taught me anything is that you can't be old enough to like giant robots/mech suits.

Elite force actually had a great premise -voyager gets snagged by an artificial reef full of other dead ships and you go from wreck to wreck salvaging stuff trying to figure out what's gathering these vessels in its web. That and you can bunny hop.

OMG! The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road is such a great game. A friend gave it to me for Christmas years ago because he knew I loved Wild Arms and thought I would enjoy another game they made.
It looks so good. Can’t find a single copy on Amazon or eBay. It probably emulates fine though.
Never thought I'd see the day where good license games were covered on this channel.
I never thought I'd see my favourite Simpsons, Star Trek and Mobile Suit Gundam games all in the same video. All that was missing was Wacky Races on the PS2. God tier kart racer. No joke.

More like last couple decades. The show has been around for more than 30 seasons and depending on who you ask about 8-10 of them were truly great.

They certainly did what's probably my favourite licensed game - Gregory Horror Show.
An alright licensed game has to be "Transformers: The Game" on PS2. I wouldn't say it's because of the story (I never go far), but it's because of one thing that I never get bored of: the surprisingly massive open-world on the Autobots' side, lol.
Like the Movie game, yeah they have their moments like I heard that Darkside of the Moon game was pretty good due to the Dev being behind the Cybertron games which is kinda cool all things considered.
I remember the first two Transformer DS games based on the movies being something. The story was fully voiced and I remember getting invested more into the characters than the actual movies. Plus, you got to make your own Decepticon and Autobot depending on what copy of the game you got. You even fight alternate you on the first level, its great.
I have so much nostalgia for the GB Bond game. I agree with the finding clues, playing cards in a casino, and going through various world locations, it felt like a 007 adventure. 😊
So do I, as both a James Bond fan and a gamer. I have played it three times and I still enjoy it.
I just got a huge hit of nostalgia with quackshot. I used to play that a lot in the early 90s and had forgotten about it.
All of the Star Trek games are on GOG now, including Elite Force. AMAZING game. Glad you included it here, it doesn't get talked about enough!
The Simpsons game is hilarious and is worth it for the cutscenes alone.
I remember finding this stored in my cousin's PS2 game stash he had built over the years, i was impressed by the level design and the quality of the cutscenes and their transitions
It isn't AS fun but it is certainly a great "Product, The Game"

No mention of the GOAT of licensed videogames. The Warriors. Developed by Rockstar for the PS2 and Xbox, and based on the 1979 film of the same name. It's a 3D brawler with graffiti mechanics and superbly awesome multiplayer.
Now The Simpsons Game price will be higher 😳

Makes me think of these manga Shakespeare stories we had in my school's library back in high school.

The Goonies Famicom game touched and inspired me as a kid. It made feel like I was going on an adventure as I played thru the levels, imagining myself as the playable character.
I hadn't yet and still have not watched the movie version of The Goonies. The game is that sacred that the movie might spoil the memories for me.
For some reason that wizard of oz game reminded me that there was a jrpg about joan of arc on the psp. I played it, and all I can remember is that sometimes she could turn into a power ranger.

I love that the King Kong game is a canon alternate version of the movie. Characters die in different ways, the introduction and interactions with the natives are different etc.
Great video! I mainly came to say that I named all my ships in Elite:Dangerous after Pearl Jam tracks.
I played through King Kong last year and loved it, super fun game with some awesome unique moments.

Thps2 was the pinnacle, the gold standard. The crew that put it together cared, and it shows.
Disney games on MegaDrive are pretty damn awesome... also I love Tiny Toon Adventures: Busters Hidden Treasure!
Gremlins 2 on NES is also an underrated masterpiece imo

Theres a japanese action game based on Wizard of Oz where you fight against God and all his angels. In the West its called Sword of Etheria

Oh hell yeah, Austin! I remember me some Page Master! That movie was my jam when I was, like, whatever age I was when "my jam" meant nothing more than "this is a jar of jam that I own".
Mad respect for highlighting QuackShot. I own it on my Genesis and love it so.
I remember having Quackshot in one of those 4 in 1 pirate cartridges for my Genesis. I found it really challenging when I was a kid because I didn't know any english and couldn't really follow on what to do but a couple of years ago I went and re-played it again in an emulator and, man, what a wonderful game and what a wonderful OST.

You deserve a million subs Austin! Great video like always. One of my favourite Spiderman games is Web of Shadows on the DS. It was fun switching between the red and black suits and the combat had weight to it.
That James bond game boy game has just brought back so many memories. There was something about it that used to make me feel sick when playing it, some sort of weird mix of the music and sound effects.
The Harry Potter RPGs for GBC are fantastic as well, they are really underrated compared to the 3d games, they can be quite too linear though but they way the handle the plot with bringing the stuff from the books not used in the movies was nice as well, Sadly the only cover the first three movies before they went for more action oriented games.

Love to see a video covering the Gundam games on available on the PS2. there's some real bangers there like Encounters in Space and Zeonic Front, but also some surprisingly decent oddballs like MS Saga: A New Dawn

So happy to see the King Kong game get some love. Was an important game of my childhood and when I revisited it last year as part of backwards compatible, I found it held up pretty well. Plus, as Austin says, you get to play as Kong. What's not to love?
THE PAGEMASTER. I loved that movie as a kid! I haven't watched it for many years, and so I assume it's still extremely good, and hasn't aged terribly.
The Watchmen was the best licensed game that rarely gets mentioned.
I JUST played the Sega Mickey/Donald games for the first time and LOVED them! Crazy timing!
I've always had a soft spot for The Mask on Snes (based on the Jim Carrey movie) Graphically it's really well done, and it's just fun spinning around the levels beating up thugs. and since you mentioned Mickey Mouse, the game Mickey Mania is one of my favorites, so much fun playing through levels based on Mickey's most popular cartoon shorts.
Elite Force was basically my childhood...my brother and I got so into the custom map maker that we actually made a full map based on our house. Game was legit.
No mention of butcher bay? It was a surprisingly deep game, with tons of exploration and side quests.

My personal fave licenced game will always be LOTR: Return of the King. Actors lending their talent, an actual explanation of events from Gandalf' perspective, and a solid beat-em-up system. Good stuff.

Dude, I was that kid, I was 12 when I went to A.D. Video and one of the three new releases that week was Quackshot , and I could not believe that it hadn't been rented out yet on its first week out on shelves. I took it home and Marvelled at the new story twists , as u mentioned the truly Upgraded Realistic Cartoon Style Graphics and Sound. I beat it In the second day I had it, but I had to hit it with a Constancy. Cool beans and great episode again

The Gameboy bond game was my favorite as a kid and you just confirmed it wasn't just some fever dream. Having to win at cards and getting to the vip room was super immersive for little 8 year old me.

Star Trak: Elite Force beat Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (albeit barely) for best reviewed game of the month in that month's issue of PC Gamer. I was 6 so idk why I remember this beyond Baldur's Gate II being an all-time classic.
