My wife and I attended Andy's church right after he left his dad's church. We thought we would give it a try. We were there for about 5 years and we watched him begin to turn into another Joel Olsteen. He would literally tell us that Jesus wasn't always right or that Scripture was not always the Word of God. When we saw these changes in his preaching, we ran and never looked back.

I have seen a great church start to tow the government line about not opening its doors when many other biz were open, and just refuse to trust in Him and to boldly walk forward in faith. Then their mission changed to to another gov line of social justice and acceptance that many have privilege and need to focus on reaching out to certain races. How does that serve the entire mission to reach everyone? When it started to feel like the mission was to gain social credit versus Gods favor, I had to leave. I think we need to be diligent in our search for truth and godly teaching. God thru Covid taught me to focus my time on serving others. I am seeking opportunities to do the same. Let’s recognize false teaching but stay laser focused on His purpose for our lives.

We had to walk away from a church we had worked hard 9+ years in planting because our senior Pastor in a neighboring city decided to let his younger “cool” sons and young staff chose the direction and vision for the church. It was heartbreaking especially to the wonderful pastor who worked so hard to supervise our new beautiful building. We had such a great core of believers but as the senior Pastor, he got to make those decisions. After listening to a few messages to confirm this was happening and we were not going to study from OT anymore and listened to Andy Stanley’s book- inspired study by these young Pastors, it was plain as day they were trying to go woke with unbiblical leadership plus many other things. Back in the good early days, Our Senior Pastor had taught us well the Word and we could discern very quickly the evil direction the church was taking. So ironic and sad. Many left and they had to scramble as you all know the “core” believers finance the church itself. So glad “Answers” are shedding light on. I wouldn’t be surprised if A.S. Starts showing his true colors -rainbow- soon.

    • @Rick-the-Swift
      @Rick-the-Swift Před rokem +3

@@martinhoy1 Hi Martin, have you considered the reason those people left the church is because they are simply only wanting to hear preachers or teachings that condone their lifestyles and beliefs, regardless of what the bible says? 2 Timothy 4 says, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
The big bang is absolutely a fable, it's 100% proven to be false science, and the very reason is exists is to discredit God in the eyes of society. But, perhaps you, and the others who left those churches, simply don't like what the bible says about this subject or that, as it undoubtedly makes them (you) uncomfortable, so why would you go to a place where it's taught, when you already know good and well you don't like it?
I know plenty of people of who hate what the bible teaches, and therefor they'd never step foot in a church to begin with. They'd just assume live their lives the way they want to. Well, that's pretty much what Andy and many other modern preachers are saying it's ok to do, and to ignore what the book says about it.
Honestly, I really wouldn't worry too much about those people who left their churches. They are likely adults with their own ability to reason, they've had plenty of time to research and think on it. They probably have their own bibles sitting somewhere on a shelf, that they can thumb through whenever they want. If you think they are somehow no longer able to be saved because they got turned off by their churches, who warn them about false teachings, then I'd say stop blaming the churches/pastors, and go tell those people they ought to open their bibles and really try to understand what it's saying to them, about them, and about consequences for turning their backs to the Lord.
Remember how Jesus instructed his disciples in Matthew 10?
"If the home is worthy, let your peace rest on it; but if it is not, let your peace return to you. 14 And if anyone will not welcome you or heed your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. 15 Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.…"
Does that sound like Jesus was the least bit worried about people who were unwilling to accept his teachings?
He never once told anyone to throw out the old scriptures either, the way Andy does repeatedly. Quite contrarily, he continually alluded to the scriptures, telling people they were always right from the very beginning, and that it was because people's hard hearts is the only reason God ever made any concessions, such as allowing for divorce.
And for what it's worth I haven't attended any churches for a good many years myself, not because of the reasons you suggest, but quite the opposite. I hear many pastors ignoring what the bible says, just like Andy is doing, and blatantly leading people to turn their backs to the true God, in favor of man's ideology, and their own personal desire for what they believe God should be like.
I also got tired of listening to preachers guilt tripping their congregations into showing up every week to put money in their coffers.
Imo, people should rejoice in the presence of the Lord, and give freely because that's all God has ever done for them, and they shouldn't have to endure the shaming that goes on because their heads weren't counted the previous week during attendance.
Jesus never once complained about a small crowd, and he never called anyone out that I'm aware who he didn't see at his last sermon, but he also wasn't desperate for people's money the way so many churches appear to be.

You can do what I did. I went to two churches. After I had left them, I wrote letters to each church and put them on the windshields of both congregations. They preached the gospel, unto sanctification, asked them to pray about reading Revelation, and told them other things that I heard. What you see below is what I put except that very last line.
      Oct 26, 2020, I heard - Biden Harris
July 31,2021 I heard - Stay in the Word.
Aug 1, 2021, I heard - Do not fear what is coming.
      Aug 9, 2021 - Surge. Isolate.
In 2019, I heard - famine and plague.
Jan 26, 2021. Heard - War is coming Shawna. Better prepare. Prophesy.
On around or on Mon Nov 21, 2022, I heard to read Psalm 37.
In April 2019, I heard - Tell them I am coming soon. Later in the day I heard: There will be a great shaking. When I didn't tell a particular church about it, I got a dream where I was scared. I could hear myself saying: I'll tell them, I'll tell them, I'll tell them. Then I saw a person in the dark with well lit church windows behind him and another person dressed in white walking behind him and up some stairs.
April 9, 2021, my vision went black for a quick moment, and then I saw in gold letters - Thus saith the Lord. About four hours later, April 10, during my sleep I heard - Prophet. Tell them I am coming soon. Maybe 3-5 min after that, at 1235 AM, our area had a 3.1 eq .
On Aug 27 at about 313 AM, in my somewhat sleep, I heard - He’s bringing the rapture at the speed of light.
From nineplanets I read a bit on the speed of light. Saw this: We know that nothing can surpass the speed of light, at least in theory. If you’d have the power to move with the speed of light, you could go around the Earth 7.5 times in one second.
Dec 20, 2021. I had a dream of an eagle on a power line. I was standing below and looking up at the eagle as it sat there, calmly, looking around. Then it started to morph into a dragon. Then I was above that dragon looking down at it with its wings spread open. I could see the black veins in the right wing.
I was in QFC one day and a song caught my attention. I believe the Lord wanted me to hear it. It's called - Get Closer by Seals and Crofts. (also look at lyrics). Supporting scripture - James 4 vs 8 and Zechariah 1 vs 3.

I find it a struggle. When believers accept Evolution - Micro or Macro, can Biblical faith ever be right or true? Is there any question that without a Personal Creator whose word can be trusted , you are set free from the moorings that God is Sovereign ? God’s Sovereignty is ordained by His Act of creation. … He created , built , constructed personally a perfect Earth. How do you believe God is Omniscient or Sovereign if He did not Personally bring All the atoms together with His hands in the forms we know? If you follow Theistic Evolution, there is not a legal right to be called sinners, because sin would be endemic , and Grace would be useless. Back to the WORD that Created All creation. The earth is subject to the LAWs of the universe we know. God ordained those Laws . How do you ever come to grips with the Truth that sets you free from the curse of Man who rebelled against his Creator? It appears to me , many like Andy Stanley , are on the Romans 1 path. Romans 1:23 (ESV)” …man exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man.”
Mortal man is the man of evolution . They have the intellect of gods. Gods are the Elites who have intellectually evolved past the book of God.
It is a grievous stance he has taken. To advance evolution before the Everlasting WORD of God. May he find Mercy, May his eyes be opened!

Andy had a good message about how Satan/today’s society will take the truth of scripture and twist it just enough to deceive you (ie. calling adultery a “mistake” or “poor judgement”). Then, a few years ago I watched Andy’s series “Unhitched”, and it seemed to me that he was doing the very thing he preached against years before. He takes a little truth and then twists it, adds to it, to make what he’s talking about more appealing to the masses. And unless you’re really paying attention it’s easy to miss. I do think he has slipped far enough now that he can be put in the camp of other false teachers. For anyone interested, there is a good discussion/debate here on CZcams between Andy and Jeff Durbin of Apologia Church. It further shows how far Andy has slipped from scripture.

It took me some time to find him online, and have access to other preachings, which I listen carefully. Little by little, I began to develop doubts about the truthfulness of what I was hearing. Eventually, I realized that the series was more of a spiritual show rather than a faithful presentation of God's plan of salvation. A similar situation occurred with a Brazilian pastor named Ed René Kivitz. At the time, I distanced myself from both of them, as their false teachings seemed waterless clouds, but were not yet cristal clear, as are today, from their statements in the last 5 ou 6 years.
Now, time has passed, and there is no doubt in my mind that their authority and confidence were or became a scheme to deceive God's people. This pattern of false pastors is all too common: they consume the best, wear the finest, but do not strengthen the weak, heal the sick, bind up the wounded, bring back the strays, or seek out the lost. They are shepherds who only serve themselves and are like hidden reefs, they really are waterless clouds. The Church must remain vigilant and remember Christ's warning of those who will follow their own ungodly desires, possibly for their own praise.

Thank you so much for saying that we have to be discerning and listening to what is being taught no matter who is teaching or how big their church is or who they are! We just left a church because we don’t agree with certain things. We aren’t causing division. We aren’t gossiping. We took our stance. We just can’t agree. So it’s best we leave. But you get responses like; “Well, we have different perceptions.” Well… I don’t care about ‘perceptions’ I care about what is Truth! There are a lot of doctrines coming out. We have a lot of stuff being thrown at us and we HAVE to be listening and listening closely. Then you get the whole …”Don’t touch God’s anointed.” The word of God clearly tells us to test all things. It warns us of false prophets. But yet when we stand up and take a stand on something… or question something… we are ‘out of line. ‘ On top of it … we have not tried to destroy a church or spread gossip … or even run to social media saying stuff. We quietly take a stand and feel we need to move on and it’s just … how defensive people can get. We live in very dangerous times. I just will not grab hold of every wind and wave of doctrine or new ‘fads’ that blow through the church. The scripture I keep hearing in my heart is in regards to being on guard as to how satan deceived Eve… and we need to return to our simple devotion to Christ. Satan wants to complicate doctrine. The gospel is simple. Our devotion and worship is simple. I will not allow myself to be swept up into all these ‘new prophetic concepts’ and ‘new interpretations to give me deeper revelation.’ Simple devotion to Christ. From day one in the garden satan started playing his game to bring confusion; “Did God really say?”

I got accused of “ using the scriptures to suit me”. Huh. No apology but got attacked back.I’m confused. What I often find , sadly, is that those who grew up in the church often treat their salvation as just a lifestyle because their parents went to church they do. It doesn’t mean anything and the Word has no power in their life. It’s like a social club to hang out on Sunday and go for lunch afterwards. Are they even saved in the first place.
