- Old-fashioned big sedan virtues combine with modern efficiency in the Toyota Avalon. Just don't expect dynamic handling. Learn more about the Toyota Avalon and other sedans on our website: bit.ly/qmt1Yx
Got a '08 Avy used 2 yrs ago. Great hwy car, just hauls smoothly quietly and comfortably. Engine is a gem. 40k in 2 yrs of ownership. Just oil change, so reliable. Love the auto climate control, it's spot on. 30+mpg hwy and reg gas, awesome. Now has 160k and still feels like new, tight, no rattles. So solid, friends and family can't believe it.
Which model do you have? XLS? Touring?
they say this car is for grand parents lol i am 28 and i am digging this car very classy!!!
2011 Avalon here...great ride. Engine is strong and gas isn’t as bad for a v6
I’ve ridden in both town car and this. the ride is very comparable. Avalon is definitely worth getting to save on gas. If you want the front bench seats like in town car, you gotta get the first or second generation.
I love it when trolls say this car is boring, or that they will take another car instead of the avalon. The thing is that people who buy avalons love this car because is comfortable, safe, and reliability, they want a car that is not going to break down in the middle of the road.
A family member has this, and yes, from experience, the back seat is really comfy. Very nice ride overall.
reliable, quiet, spacious, neat interior. this car is a great cruiser.. now the 2013 is around the corner, w better interior style, more tech, exterior styling, and a Hybrid too.. can't wait to see Tom review it
This car might not have the looks but it delivers on what it says..Comfort, quiet, powerful
and reliable... i love Avalons.. specially the 2013
A lot of people dont understand this car, Its not meant to compete with the GENESIS or Taurus or anything, its like what these lot are saying.
A big comfortable sedan thats meant for comfort only.. hence it doesnt have any sporting pretentions.
If you want to buy a sports sedan youll get a 5 series or a GS or something.
THIS is an excellent review however because it reviews the avalon for what it is!
I am using an Avalon and I ma very satisfied. I can't afford BMW or Benz..I will not like Genesis either. I am not very happy with the Avalon of 2013 and newer because it looks like a Camry ..its really a let down for Avalon ! Keep to the Old Avalon style Please. Don't degrade !
I agree with you ..
I agree Toyota Avalon the last good car Thay may was the 2010
Well the reason why they b**** down the Avalon is because when they were the nice big cars people complained now there small as hell people don't know what they want smh.
Bought a 2004 avalon 3 months ago with 91K....never owned a Toyota before and I love this car....fast, smooth and very comfortable....i enjoy getting in it every day....found out it's basically a Lexes....highly recommend buying one if you need a second car.
Very nice - hoping to get one. I'm tired of rough riding cars on horrible roads across the country.
did you get it :)
i have this car, but a 97 and still great. i hope the new redesigned which is expected to be on showrooms on 2012 on fall, gets a new upgrade, inside and out.
still love this car
i love this car .. it's for family and for youth also
Great car. The best in its class and most reliable at that
love my '07 avalon LIMITED
new ford taurus? LOL that thing looks even smaller than the avalon inside, and much more expensive.
LEATHER AIR CONDITIONED AND HEATED SEATS.
i'm sure my boss's boss rides in a new LS 460, it's cute and it's as white as my avalon. it always weighs a whole ton (literally) more, and i doubt it's any more luxurious than my avalon.
might be a little faster, maybe he can afford those speeding tickets. i'll enjoy my ~260 hp at the crank. it can get out of it's own way even with the older 5 speed auto.
00's avalon is the ultimate japanese luxury bang for the buck.
I love how you say it's to go-to car for cruising and end with testing it's lack of sporting potential.
Best overall car you can buy for money
Tom was in love with the Avalon!
They are a great car it takes you where you need to go to point A to Point B not a racing car is a classic car in style 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I Love 💕 it and I bought it last night love driving it on the highway with a 6 cylinder you feel the difference not only that it have a JBL System to hear all your favorite music just traveling down the road you won’t be disappointed with this classic car 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰I’m LOVING IT 🥰
It does its part and you have to give it to Toyota for that
Needs the power Tilt and Telescope steering trick like the LS400. Dame even the Loaded Toyota tundra has that Lexus tilt trick and its a truck..
You know the Avalon is a good car when you see owners buy it more than once
*When older owners buy it more than once, Meaning they stuck with one until they felt it necessary for a newer one, even though the older one is still running fine
I don't know if I would take this (avalon), a buick lacrosse a used cadillac DTS or a used lincoln MKS.
i would to but now they have the hyundai azera redesigned for 2012 id take that to
@vothry Is cruising and sporting the same? No
Only flaw with the Avalon, the rear seats? Don't fold just like the Acura TL despite Avalon having decent trunk space.
So with the specs you described? How is the fuel efficiency??? Gas guzzler? ;/
Before Avalons grew huge cavernous mouths.
and the redesign 2013 Toyota Avalon coming this fall
@TheBadBuffalo But the Ford Taurus isn't that designed well. In fact, appeal rating for the car is low.
@bkvintagecorp have you driven a 2012 se camry?
to me the only thing that this is missing and the camry is handling.... pushing it in a straight line is one thing but try moving it from lane to lane smh
Awesome car I'd take this over the v8 genesis w poor milage and over the 300 rear wheel drive
My grandma has the 2012 v8 genesis with 50 thousand miles and I have the 2011 limited Avalon with almost 140 thousand miles and my car runs so much better and gets 8+ more miles per gallon
is there some cheap plastic in this car?
NICE car!!
What about this?
If I were in the market, I doubt I would consider a new one of these--the competition is more interesting and appealing. But as a used car, I can definitely say I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one (at least theoretically--I've never driven one).
I drive a Mazda 3 now and am tired of the sportiness, noise, and stiff ride (and RUST!). That gets reviewers all excited, and it's great for the first 6 months, but after that, it's just tiresome. Now I want a smoooooth ride and a quiet interior!
This one is buttery soft ,quite and very comfortable with class .You drive this it makes you feel good i tell you that cuz i own a 2012 a great car.Try to get a limited model it has all the features.
I love
@oldschool1 No way, it spits in the face of this. And at least the Cressida was rear drive.
Needs a V8... I don't car if the car already has enough power. The V8 sound just beats out the V6.
I actually like the styling. And this car is so long xD
Sweet car but, dude, socks with sandals have *never* (ever) been in style. I suppose you just don't give a damn what the fashion police have to say, right? Go, geek, go! Let your freak flag fly.
I'd take a used BMW 5 series
bacause is quiet and sporty
It's the new Cressida.
I miss Tom
One boring ass car but man does the rear seat look comfy.
this isnt boring yu really have to own a limited edition with all the bells and whistles ...i have driven es 350 and this they share the same engines.
@NadrianATRS the DTS looks literally like SHIT. not saying this car looks good but cmon.. the DTS
Id take anything over a Toyota.
so its for old people?
No, it's for people who prefer comfort over modern "sporty trends". It's also super quiet, spacious, and smooth. I just wish they didn't make the 2013+ ones look like everyone else's entry level Camry.
Nope! This car is for people that want a reliable vehicle.
@talldude123 ditto
Nobody needs to drive a car this big... for road trips rent a minivan
The retiree-mobile. With room for gramps and his golf clubs.
then go buy a fukin ferrari
No one's offering you either.
I'd take a LaCrosse over this
this is an old persons car
FORD..........REALLY! My father had 2 of those fire - bombs before he saw the light and left this brand.
if I need a big old fashioned sedan I'll take the Cadillac DTS, this car looks boring
İşde buuuu
The big problem with the Avalon is ... it's not a SUV or crossover..
haha this car is the worst in class i term of safe, comfortable, fuel efficient, and reliable. If you want the reliable one buy the AVALON 10 years ago with 3.0. If you want good car get The new FORD TAURUS 3.5 SHO twin turbo
Not... The Taurus got a poor on the small impact IIHS safety test. The Avalon got a good. Also Toyotas are really reliable whereas Ford's Ecoboost and other engines are mostly unreliable. The Avalon is like an old Buick: big, comfortable, and reliable. The Taurus is typical sedan.
Sorry about the Taurus looks ugly. Even the new Avalon looks better then the new Taurus looks.
FORD=CRAP
Lol
Id take the 300 over this !
The 300 is a pos
Nah get a Genesis over this, or even a 300. who knows maybe even a Taurus SHO!
Just go and bye a Chrylser 300 !
dislike... ugh, toyota.
Ugly and boring. Oh riiight. It's a toyota. That's why.
@TheBadBuffalo chrysler over toyota ha ha ha
ugly car
toyota sucks
Good job Toyota! It's hard to beat this car for ugliness. It's consistently ugly from every angle.
I have one and I love it. great highway car.
