I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

Marko is my Totem animal! Have met Him several times, over the Years. Last one after His solo gig in Tuska 2019, in Helsinki 2,5moths ago! Really and mean really nice man! Always joking and little twinkle in His eyes! One of the best people in world to take couple beers with. Chatting and make world better place! For the record: Not beers anymore, becouse Marko quit drinking allready, almost ten years ago! 👍
And thankfully, he did not quit singing. :-D

When the bass player can entertain 20,000 people on his own you know the band has some depth.
So aptly put! They are basically what would be called an all-star cast in opera, where each and every one down the list is a master capable of running their own show any time. Some of the "real" all-star bands in rock and pop do not hold up, imo, and the benefit of flawless cohesion among NIGHTWISH members may be the essential element!
Well, he's a frontman of a different band, so he should be able to entertain people

My friend... He is Marco Hietala the frontman of Tarot since 1986 with 9 released albums and more :)
Marco is the biggest metal head of the band and yet his bandmates point out in many interviews that he writes the sweetest and softest songs
He is a really nice guy in real life. He is from the same town as I am. Well moved away few years ago to Helsinki, but still. Marko is really humble guy. We have jammed at open stage few times together in a local bar called Henry's Pub..
I met Marko and Troy after a show in Denver. My friend said she would love to meet them someday, so I said why not tonight? And I dragged my panicked nervous friend to the backstage door. I went inside, and I saw them hanging out while Floor was doing a meet n greet. I asked them if they could come out and say hi to some people outside, and they were like hell yeah. Better than being bored waiting for Floor to be done. Those guys were some of the chillest, funniest dudes I've met. They're like the Dwarves at Bilbo's house. Always happy. Always with smiles. If you don't have a smile, they will give you one. My friend was shy, and I told them she liked them, but she's over there being starstruck omg nervous, so they went to her, and hugged her, and dragged her into our circle. We all laughed and took pics. Floor came out for a bit and waved at everyone, and one of the roadies pretty much dragged Marko and Troy onto the bus. You want to make fans for life? Cuz that's how you make fans for life :D

I totally agree. I have not met them yet, but I believe a good interaction is key to building your fan base. Nothing worse than some guy who thinks he's a rock star for nothing. But everything to someone who's met that rock star and knows that we put them there. Kip Winger and Bret Michaels are 2 that come to mind. 🤘
@Shotgun Mouthwash I love when bands do stuff like this. Little sister-in-law loved Deadsy, so we went to see them the first time at the Troc in Philly. Didn't know they were having a meet & greet after their set and stayed for MSI's set. Afterwards, we ended up running into someone who saw us with her and her best friend's Deadsy shirts on and came over and asked if we got to meet them. We said we didn't realize that we could have, so he went and said he was their manager and to follow him. We were a bit eh, feels sketchy... but followed him anyway as there was a bunch (me, my gf/wife, her little sister, her parents, and her sister's best friend) of us. We find out he actually was their manager. He leads us out to the bus and gets everyone to come off the bus to meet us. Sister-in-law's friend breaks down crying from joy and her reaction ended up being in some of the footage on one of their music videos. They seemed pleasantly surprised I had come from near Pittsburgh to see them. Their manager would remember us when we've gone to see the band again and make sure we would get to see the band.
I miss being young and not having mortgages and stuff and being able to go to concerts. Oldest is now wanting to go to concerts, so I'll need to figure out how to juggle that now too. Took them to their first one last winter down in DC as it was the closest place that wasn't already sold out to see the kid she wanted to see. Was pleasantly surprised by the opening act of Field Medic and Cavetown wasn't bad either. Not my normal cup of tea, but enjoyable none-the-less. Kid loved it and has been trying to figure out how to afford Metallica tickets now... *lol*
Sounds like Nightwish, yep. :) Such a beautiful thing to do for a fan. No wonder they have such a strong and devoted army of fans.
@@SonnyThomasShow1 Kip is actually pretty awesome. Real chill. He let one of my bassist buddies play his bass, and he was impressed, so part way through his set he called my buddy up on stage to play with him. For my part, I happened to have a 9V battery on me, and his mic sounded like shit, so I hot swapped his wireless while my buddy was getting ready. "Anyone can play bass haha. But we'd be nowhere without our roadies." said Kip. You wanna make a fan for life? Cuz that's how you do it.

My son introduced me to Nightwish. He goes to see them every time they come to the U.S. My son is 28, I am 66. Music indeed bridged the ol' generation gap. We have gone to concerts together for years. We call it " sharing". His first concert was in Boston to see Pat Benatar with me...since then, we go to all concerts together ! ( I was probably the only person to bring a walker to an Iced Earth concert !!! ) LMAO !!
My Dad went with me to concerts while I was growing up, some of the best memories that I have with him.
My mum, my step dad and myself all have different music tastes, yet we all bonded when I showed them both Nightwish. They're just such an impressive bunch of musicians and their music manages to somehow appeal to everyone without ever becoming generic. Hell, even my grandma likes them. She's really into musicals and I showed her their Phantom of the Opera and she loved it.
Well, what wouldn't one do to see Iced Earth? It's a really impressive live band! I hope you take care of yourself and get to see many good concerts with your son before having to report to the great audience in the sky.
"While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live at Wembley)" is another song sung by Marco with Floor backing his voice, very beautiful, I think you should react to that one too, you'll love it!

Floor and Marco are a great match. Their voices suit each other and neither of them mind it when the other one is at the center of attention. They clearly like each other, and it makes them so much more wonderful to experience.
The song is written by Marco, before Floor joined the band, but every song is at least as good as it was with the singer, who recorded it originally. She's awesome, and so is he.
There is nothing you can say good enough for this band. The greatest female vocalist on earth. A brilliant vocalist that is the main and excellent bassist. A lead guitarist that can make the guitar jump through hoops when the music requires it. A drummer that can keep that beat moving for as long as he wants without ever missing a beat. A Troy (he is unique so his name is his title) who can play instruments that god hasn't invented yet and last, but definitely not least, a keyboard player and absolute genius that writes this music, these stories, these tales of fantasy - and makes them real.
Frankly, I'm astonished by Floors ability to hold back. Honestly, that woman never ceases to impress me. Shes doing all sorts of acrobatics and still, manages not to steal the spotlight.
Knowing what a powerhouse she is, its like a Typhoon being able to set itself up so it provides a gentle breeze.

Played a show with Nightwish in New Zealand. Marco was by far the coolest guy out of all of them. Very chill and happy to just hang out and party.

Was fortunate to meet Marko and get a photo with him at ProgPower in Atlanta a few years back when he was there performing with Delain. He’s one of the most accessible and coolest musicians I’ve ever met.
Truth man! He really is! One of a Kind! 👍. Have spent couple evenings with Marko over the Years! Before, when He still was drinking, didnt have to pay any beers. Always were someone, who would want to give another! Still the sweetest man! Doesnt need any alcohol to be Himself! I really like His motto, In one interview: "You have to have some balls, but don't have to be a dick! "😁

This is one of my favorite Nightwish songs! I've never seen this version, and it's absolutely beautiful. Marco's voice is a treasure.
The amazing dynamics between the three singers in Nightwish is astonishing. Floor, of course, has the amazing and versatile range, as well as the ability to sing all the different styles, then you have Marco with his powerful, theatrical heavy metal head voice, but also the soft, fairytale-esque bard quality, and then you have Troy, the calm and laid back storyteller, who when he sings sounds like he has sung lullabies all his life. A golden trio in a perfect band, with astonishing musicianship, and the composing and songwriting by Tuomas Holopainen has no equal on this earth.
This song shows all the sides of Marco and catches the wonderful chemistry between him and Floor Jansen perfectly, how they complete each other on stage, and it always leaves me with a feeling of warmth deep inside the core of my heart and soul whenever I hear their voices compliment each other.

Marco was a great singer in 1986, when I first heard him. Tarot, Wings Of Darkness, one of the best records ever done, along with the second Tarot record, Follow Me Into Madness. And, after over 30 years, nothing has changed, he still is a great singer, among his other skills. I own every record he has sung, maybe I like his style :-)

If you like this folky type sound you'll probably like I Want My Tears back or Alpenglow. It adds in their rock/metal side while keeping the Celtic/folk feel and without going too crazy. If you're up for a long song and wanna see a little bit heavier without them going to their all out metal side, Ghost Love Score is one of their biggest hits. I suggest watching it with Tarja first, and then with this lady, Floor so that you can appreciate all the nice stylistic changes she added :) If you end up not liking one song keep looking. They are diverse and full of surprises. and definitely do some wikipedia. Tons of backstory. Welcome to the Nightwish family :)

One of my favourite Nightwish songs and really showcases Marco's clean vocals. And if you get to have Floor Jansen as a BACKING singer, you know you must be doing something right!!! And this live version is beautifully arranged, somewhat different from the studio arrangement. I'd recommend checking out the studio version/official video as it is Annette (the second singer) and the video is rather beautiful.

Floor´s voice works like a blanket during their vocal harmonisations in this song. She was also there to support Marko´s singing of higher notes, because his clean head voice is entirely gone (or almost entirely) after a throat surgery that went badly - tonsils removal, I think. He was still able to regain most of his vocal abilities.
I believe he had a vocal polyp removed and regretted it because the doctor said his voice would be back to normal within a few weeks and he almost lost the ability to talk and had to relearn singing because his old voice was gone.
He'll never sing like he used to but luckily he's found his 'new' voice whilst in Nightwish and it's perfect still, just different.
It's also great to see Floor (who let's be honest can sing anything) will happily leave him to lead and she'll improve the song by being a very minimalist background singer.
Can't imagine a less humble person letting their ego go and let someone else have the limelight.

@@EricManktelow This is news to me. When did this happen? He still sounds really damn good live but he is in his early 50's and most singers hit their last peak in that stage.

I haven't seen Marco say it himself but I assume the info came from an interview with him originally.
I must admit with a quick search I can't find anything official about it so it may or may not be true.

Great reaction, this song was indeed written by Marko himself. Also a noteworthy point about Marko, is that his voice was damaged in 1995 due to a throat surgery, so his vocals aren't quite as perfect as they used to be, but still amazing!

Okay, that's something I always wondered about after listening to Tarot. He has a very unique voice. One that sounds like it should be far more powerful, but seems held back and kind of gruff. Surgery would definitely explain a lot.
Marco is fantastic! Everyone always fawns over Floor (deservedly so) but Marco is so solid, both as the main singer and as the support singer. He harmonizes so well with whoever he sings with...Floor, Annette and Tarja (also when he performs guest vocals in other bands). I've said it before and I'll say it again...Marco is the glue that holds this band together...if it wasn't for him, Nightwish would have disbanded when Tarja was let go. He helped Tuomas get through the rough times and also helped Annette and Floor when they joined the band. Also, he has a GREAT sense of humor as he shows in the video. I can't say enough good things about this guy. Cheers!

I went to a Nightwish concert (with their previous singer), I stood in front of Marko during the entire gig and he was such a delight to see and hear. 😊🤟🏻

This is one of my favourite Nightwish's songs. I love Marco. I've met him twice and he's the sweetest (I've met Toumas, Floor, Kai and Troy as well and they're amazing too, but Marco is just the best ♥)

The keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen is the primary composer in Nightwish. This song was originally recorded when Annette Olzon was in the band.
But I thought Marco wrote this one (along with While Your Lips Are Still Red). Am I wrong?

It is before they got "Flooralized" and it's Marco who is singing. In my opinion, this version is even better than the original from Pink Floyd.
