The drawing that you need an ID on is the feeding tentacles (also known as a crown) of a tube worm. They live in coral colonies and extend the part that is drawn out to catch plankton.Phylum Annelida, distant relatives of earthworms.
Keith's knowledge amazes me. I'd actually love to see a video to see how many Fellows he could name off the top of his head.
Keith is so good at his job.
This content is so awesome , can we have more medical or chemistry devices ~ oh also maybe how the royal society buildings are protected from fire, etc.?
This would be fantastic. The society tour was great and I'd love another doing a deep dive on the roles of employees/ logistics of running the society as a business and institution
The look of that paper at the start, with its fonts and layout, must be exactly what modern LaTeX is trying to imitate, right? The result is that to me this old paper looks quite shockingly anachronistic.
So that's what was in the box. The movie didn't allow us to know. Thank you Keith and Brady.
It looks like the same Russell that signed for Yonge was the Seconder for Marshall, so she had at least two from the expedition supporting her nomination.
Love you videos from the RS with Keith.
It is amazing. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing
Unfortunately Hawksley no longer makes microscopes. Today they are mainly a producer of medical equipment.
wonderful
WOMAN DOCTOR!
My word!
The hand written word "objectivity" right at the start... Is it from some document from the collection?
I believe it is a font they created from either Newton’s or Darwin’s handwriting
If you search Brady’s blog, you’ll find the post
According to the description of the t-shirt they sell of it, the handwriting is Darwin's, though they don't say from where. They have one in Newton's hand as well.
Awww keith
Those shelves are book heaven. We need a panoramic photo of one of those walls at some point.
What does "suspended for" mean on the candidacy sheet? Is that related to how long the candidacy has been active or something along those lines?
George Costanza would have loved the Great Barrier Reef
If they ever do a movie about these two scientists, it has to star Tom Hiddleston and Ginnifer Goodwin!
Nice Video, Illustrations, and cheating on the Speedmaster ;)
Hurray possibly my favourite channel on U choob !
Yonge St. in Toronto is pronounced like young...but who's to say that'd the case here... Actually, the street was named after an FRS, so...maybe a connection??
I looked up Yonge St in Toronto; it has a Wikipedia article which states, "Ontario's first colonial administrator, John Graves Simcoe, named the street for his friend Sir George Yonge, an expert on ancient Roman roads."
A sea fairy riding on a hermit crab. That's what I aspire to be.
The image Brady was asking about @8:33, could that be some subspecies of peacock or grey crowned crane? The bird's head at center looking down to 7 o'clock, with surrounding plumage?
Yes! Keith wants to dive the reef. I'd pay for you to do so, unfortunately I'm not in a position financially to make them decisions.
Is that Nessa?? :O
like and a comment for the algo-guy
and you also get 3 views out of that little exercise (plus the ad revenue)
How old must something be before the white gloves come on?
I believe white gloves are always used except for paper, when they are never used. It was explained that you are more likely to damage paper when wearing gloves because you can't feel as well with them on.
Not once has it been it's an Gwyneth Paltrow's head and yet I'm always kind of expecting when someone asks what's in the box
This guy was Steve Erwin before steve Erwin was even inseminated.
