- We love a good hearty dinner, and cabbage rolls are no exception 😍 these cabbage leaves are stuffed with rice and ground meat for the ultimate comforting meal - we love to make this year round, served alongside some potatoes 🥔 aaand we like it with a dollop of sour cream too, although not traditional in some places, we find it the perfect accompaniment!

We cook them in a thin tomato sauce that has brown sugar and lemon juice in it and let it simmer for hours on the stove in a covered pot, or 1/2 an hour in a pressure cooker. I've never seen them without a sauce before.
Yeesssss.... you got to have that sweet red sauce or it ain cabbage rolls 🥬🍲
I've started cooking recently, I only put tomato sauce, and I didn't know I should put sugar and lemon juice. So that's why it's missing some flavors😅 I wish I knew sooner. I'll cook cabbage rolls again! Thank you for your comment!
@@islandgirl150 these still look yummy tho! Yes, try it with the red sauce you won't regret it 😋 God bless!
for real me either, she's cooking depression
These are cooked in stock for flavor! Lots of versions out there too with tomato sauce, this is our version of the Swedish way of making them!
I'll try this recipe tonight thanks
What a tempting recipe you cooked!😍
thank you!
Great, condensed, quickie recipe! I trim the thick cabbage vein before rolling myself - easier.
yep that definitely helps with some of the bigger pieces!!
omg my mom made these for me all the time when I was little! I miss them so much. I'll have to try this myself with turkey soon, that's such a good idea. She always used beef and bacon and it was chefs kiss
yay! we do usually use beef or pork or a mix, but it's so easy to substitute!
You are awesome thanks alot Sister 😊
Great cabbage roll idea !!
thank you!!
In my culture we have the same dish as this but instead of baking we steam. 😊
Do you have a name for the dish? Thank you!
@@recycledfelines Idk about them but in my country we call them Sarma
Beautifully done.
These look delicious. Kindly, ¿Is that Nutmeg you add?
This is a little different than the way my German/Polish mom made them. Her filling was ground beef, rice, bacon, and maybe onions. Can't remember for sure; it's been 40 years. She pressure cooked them, and the cabbage was always slimy too me, unless I got one from the bottom of the pot that had crisped up. I like the way you baked them. I want to try it that way. Thanks!
baking makes it super easy!!
Bizim ülkemizde de var lahana sarmas ı ama biz yumurta kalmayız ve bol maydonoz dere otu ve bol soğan sarmsak ve domates konsentrası ve baharatlar.
The best recipe on the web. Everyone puts tomato sauce. You can accompany it with a thin béchamel or Mornay sauce and lemons.
that sounds delicous! this is often made with a creamy gravy in Sweden so that would go very well too!
Good job cook cabbage so proud of you!!
Gracias por la receta me acabo de suscribir te pido por favor podrías colocar los ingredientes receta en la descripción de tu video ? Nos sería de excelente ayuda BENDICIONES 👌🙏🤗
Absolutely gorgeous!
All we heard for the seasoning was salt and pepper, what was the other seasonings? Thank you
I made mine with lean beef 🥩
That sounds good!
Traditionally it's made with pork, however beef or lamb are acceptable replacements (I know my Croatian relatives do that because they can't eat pork).
Wow!!
Oh man I cut my cabbage so I don't have the full leaves.... wonder if it could still work 🤔
Yummy 😊
Yes yours is different but looks amazing thank you
thank you!
Appreciate, gotta try this. You didn't mention cooking duration and temperature
350, 1 hour
Looked like good eats 💪🏾🤤
I used sausage and add cheese... deliciously good 👍 ❤😊 ✌️
Yaaas! This is the content I'm here for.
Ok, I...I suppose I can forgive you for the turkey. :'-(
Glad to see you didn't put tomatoe sauce o top. My grandmother from Poland did not put tomatoe sauce on top
I know I’ve been looking high and low for a recipe without it to make sure I wasn’t crazy.
Nice to see someone clean the leaves 👍🏽
Pickled cabbage rolls sarma from Bosnia are a must.
Great job!

More seasoning for me
Thank you for sharing this. New friend
How long do you bake it for, looks so yummy🤤🤤🤤
About 40 minutes at 375F!
Finally a recipe that doesn’t include tomato sauce!
Yep it's the Swedish version with stock instead!
That’s every recipe. Just don’t add it
Given the housing crisis why are these direlect town centres not gentrifying under the swarms of young professional remote workers looking for affordable homes to fix up?
Burger and pork for filling , add tomato juice and sourkrout for sauce.
Excellent
Thank you!
What were the 2 shaker ingredients before salt and pepper?👀💥
Please tell me what is the sauce you added above
How many minutes do we have to bake it
What sauce that you add when you want to bake? Is it oil, margarine or sauce?
It looked like melted butter
It's stock! So it adds some flavor while braising in the liquid 👍
Nice Pan! who Made it? Is it Ceramic Cast or just Ceramic?
this one is a le creuset and i believe it's enameled cast iron!
Very nice video but I like mine with red sauce 😋 😊
fair enough!!
That's delicious! Got to remember to get sour cream.
Oh yes sour cream is the best accompaniment!
What juice did you pour before putting it in the oven?
It's broth!
Голубцы
It looks so good and more healthier with ground turkey. How did they taste👅?
a little less rich than using pork/beef but very good still!!
BOIL THOSE CABBAGES DOWN! LOOKS GOOD, THANKS.🇺🇲❤️👍
Omg wish u had looked up the Turkish cabbage roll 😅
Wow your eyes are so blue 💙
What temperature did you cook them at, and how long?
What a beautiful recipe.
30 mins covered, 10-20 uncovered at 375F (190C).
I don't have a microwave/oven, can I fry it on a pan? How much time?
I do think you'd be able to do this in a pan if you bring it to a simmer and then cover it - you may just have to pay attention to if they are burning on the bottom! And then check the internal temp for doneness, I would say check it every 10 mins? add more liquid if needed too!
You're doing it the cheat's way, you're meant to use whole fermented cabbage leaves, also you don't need to cook the rice or add an egg. You also need to use more broth than that for Sarma
"How DARE you make it differently from the way I do it! That's the CHEAT'S WAY!" (whatever the hell that means)
@rown5669It's literally a way contrary to the actual recipe designed to shorten the amount of time/effort needed to make it, if you're going to take another culture's food and use it for profit you at least owe it to the culture you stole it from to present those traditional recipes with accuracy so you're not giving people false impressions.
We understand lots of cultures have versions of this recipe, this is our way of making the Swedish version. We appreciate every culture's version of making dishes differently!
Hummmm!!!!
What did you pour over the top? Broth?
Yes it’s broth!
@@skandibaking That's nice to know! I can't eat tomatoes but I've been really curious to make cabbage rolls and this gives me a different direction! 😍
had cabbage been fermented, dish would be 10x better, try it
will have to try that sometime!
Ummm no it won't. Please don't destroy the dish
@@LunaFlame lol, sarma is a world known and loved dish. People freak about how good it is when they try it in Balkans. Please don't write nonsense before you do at least some research.
@@LunaFlame Sarma is a traditional food in the Balkan (mainly Croat/Serb), fermented cabbage enhances the flavor and is the traditional way of making it. Not only is it healthier for you but it tastes better, fun fact you don't cook the rice either when making the cabbage roles because it cooks in the oven.
What spices did you add?
salt, pepper, allspice, thyme, parsley!
How do I find the whole recipe and instructions?
they're always linked in the description, but it's on the website here: skandibaking.com/kaldolmar-swedish-cabbage-rolls/
Is there an alternative for beef and pork?
yes you can use turkey or chicken!
Толстый корешок у капусты лучше срезать. Я делаю с поджаркой из лука, моркови и томатов. Спасибо за вашу версию рецепта)
Sounds great! And yes lots of different ways of making it 👍
Dumplings 🥟
Деярли Узбекистонда тайерланадиган вариант.
Thats basically a kurdish dolma but less veggies.
How long do you cook it in the oven?
about 40 minutes!
Add V8 juice and sauerkraut and then you have a cabbage roll
That us interesting Ty 😊
It's be cooler if you could show baking temp and time
Not the best recipe
Way too big for starters
How long did you cook it
30 minutes covered, 10 mins uncovered or until the meat is cooked through!
Sarma
I would have to cook that meat a little before rolling it 😅
you can if you want! It fully cooks in the oven and you can always temp check it 👍
needs tomato and a sour component
sure if that's what you want!
Can you cook the meat first or it won't stick?
we haven't tried to cook it first, and it may be a little more difficult to fill into the cabbage but it should cut down on the overall oven time!
How long in the oven
30 mins covered, 10 mins uncovered!
You really need somme sausage in that. Fat and more tomato sauce 😋
Do mine different, but yours looks great!
thank you! It's a very flexible recipe!
Your plate made me criNge, Sis! 😖 😂
Delicia hummm
i would cook or brown the meat first
You should use tomato paste and a little oil in every roll
Could be your preference, however some people don't like or are allergic to tomato paste or sauce js 🤷🏾♀️
Yuck. It's too overwhelming and in some countries they don't use tomatoes.
Что за мясо она положила?
Какая-то пастообразная масса
The plate was kinda horrifying, looked like a bunch of tiny hairs 😮
omgggg noo it's just a kinda old plate 🥲
Why put recipe w no times, temps, mounts i mean
recipe is on our website: skandibaking.com/kaldolmar-swedish-cabbage-rolls/
No sauce??! They should be braised in a sauce otherwise they are SO plain
Braised in stock! Just a different way of doing it
To polskie gołąbki 🕊🕊🕊
Average romanian at college trying to learn how to cook Sarmale
Wrong. No taste
What most european countries would make!😅
Non si metti uovo
😂
