Pro tip. Freeze a head of cabbage about 2 weeks so it’s really good and frozen. Thaw out on counter for a day before you’re ready to make your rolls. No more boiling a head of cabbage. After thawed, the leaves are super soft and pliable from the outer leaf to the core. And you haven’t boiled out all the flavor and nutrients. Trust me on this, it’s a game changer!
You don't have to wait 2 weeks, overnight is fine, I've been making these for over 40 years.... This recipe is fine for a quickie but I don't recommend boiling your cabbage it makes it mushy. Also, try regular tomato soup from a can... I know, I know, I had a hard time trying it but what a difference. ☯️
@@user-nm9ht5ez6l A cabbage head is not frozen all the way through in a night. It literally takes at least a week. It has to be frozen awhile to get soft. 2 weeks is best. You obviously have never done this or you would know.
I grew up on cabbage rolls. We always smothered the top with shredded kraft and crushed tomatoes with the juice. I always make a big roaster full so that I can freeze some of them.
I’m making these now. Cabbages are all stuffed! Sauce tastes delicious! I altered the recipe a little bit using basil paste and adding smoked paprika and Italian parsley to the meat filling. Smells great!
I like to add some red wine to the filling and tomato sauce … I don’t drink at all but I love red wine in my stuffed cabbage , stuffed peppers , beef roasts, lamb and my special occasion tomato sauce .
If you're wondering why your tomatoes never soften no matter how long you cook them (even though you're following your nonna's recipe), try a canned tomato that doesn't contain citric acid. The majority of supermarket canned tomatoes contain citric acid, which preserves whatever level of crispness the tomatoes are at after canning, which is undesirable. Plus it just messes with the kitchen-witchery magic imho
Gołąbki/Golumpki aren't exclusive to Poland! :) Thankfully lots of slavic countries realize how good this shiz is :). It's also known as golubtsy (Голубцы), Holubtsi, and Slavic Jewish populations also have their own versions (Holishkes, gefilte kroit, huluptzes, etc...)
This is the best recipe I’ve seen on here so far ! Making this for tm husband this weekend
Hope you like it

It's so good!
Damn that looks SCRUMPTIOUS 😋🥬
Thank you! 🥂
Absolutely looks delicious can I use white sauce instead of red sauce... Only because red sauce tends to give me heartburn
Like a Alfredo? That probably would be delicious
Amazing! Love love the sugar to cut the acidity of the tomatoes ❤ ❤
let me know if you try it!
This is a very ‘Italianized’ cabbage roll recipe but I’m sure it tastes fantastic.
🤣🤣🥂❤️
I use ground beef and sage sausage for my goulash recipe 🎉
Sounds great!
Is the rice already cooked before mixing it with the meat?
Yes 😊
I can’t find the written recipe on your site. Has it been removed?
Looks yummy and healthy 😋😋 without the sausage 👍
Deconstructed cabbage rols are just faster
🥂

Just until you can peel it off like 3-6 minutes
That's a hugeee sausage 🥲

@@MatthewAugusta 😘
Mmm mushy rice. Don’t cook the rice people it’ll cook in the oven!
🤣
@@MatthewAugusta glad you read my message. Mushy rice is gross.
Crunchy rice is even worse. I cooked mine and it came out perfect.
Why Waste the whole cabbage? can you just peel off & cook a few Leaves?
You can but just be gentle so they don’t break
I can't find the recipe on your website.

No luck on finding the recipe on your website. Shame because it looks delicious but without measurements I don’t dare to make it😔
Making this tonight, this recipe is different than my moms. I really want to see which one is better. My moms rice is way to crunchy for me. 😢😅

@@MatthewAugusta a total win! I added a few things. Thank you for this recipe my two year old even ate it. 🤗
Do you cook the rice??
Yes
no cacio?
I don’t usually use cheese but I bet it will be good if you did
I use cooked oats instead
🥂
hi, do u mean oats in place of rice?
@@walkerpantera Yes. Steamed in a stock of your choiced flavor.
Leave the sugar out
🥂
That should have been kraut instead of kraft.

To jak polskie gołąbki.

WAY too much salt. Ew.
