#LessThanZero #RobertDowneyJr - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Saw this movie at 16 and I left the theaters fearing any sort of drug addiction. Downey wasn't just acting...he had amazing people in his life who cared enough to save him and get him clean. He is amazing.
I think it was Mel Gibson who supported him!
That's a healthy fear!
Ultimately Robert decided he had enough. He truly is an inspiration. From being addicted, broke and in prison to a net worth of $300 million, a beautiful wife and children.
you can be a recovered addict and a terrible person. you don't know him and he's not your friend. he does like defending homophobes and men accused of SA though.
My grandmother took my mom to see this as a 15 year old… my mom always has said that even though she doesn’t think she would’ve ever done hard drugs, this movie definitely made sure of that
Little did we know how close this character was for him at the time. Stunning performance by RDJ.
so true
His life took a downward spiral. I was so glad to see he was able to kick that addiction. So many young people don't.
From the drug addiction to be become the hero who saving the world from mad titan
This ending gets me every damn time.
this made me depressed for a long time watching this as a young person. and rdj was going through this in real life. so great to see him better
😢 is the story real about his life ?
@@akh5243 no. He was on drugs really bad in his younger life. You should look it up
This still hurts😭😭
Well he is iron man now
@@tramainecampbell591 not anymore 😐😂
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
@@user-ec3up6qb5p Rip made him smoke a bunch of crack all at once not long before his friend came to take him home
@@nevercertain So if it wasn't for him, Julian would be alive! He and Rip were kissing because he was obviously intoxicated with these drugs. If it weren't for him, he would be alive! NO!
Just rewatched Less Than Zero after nearly a decade. This movie is so sad man.. specially this scene. Amazing performances from RDJ, Andrew McCarthy, etc.
Try reading the book lol. Talk about nihilism.
Such an underated film. The music - the acting from everyone is amazing. The sadness here is devastating. RDJ - Jamie Gertz, Andrew McCarthy - plus the music is all perfection.
I haven't read the books but I know there was a sequel called Imperial Bedrooms, I wish the film had been made with the same actors.
My brother died of drug overdose at the age of 24, I know about this first hand. It s devastating.
My condolences.
Andrew was such an underrated actor in the 80's!! Great movie!!!
No, he wasn't... I grew up in the 80s and Andrew McCarthy was an accomplished actor by the mid-80s starring in numerous films such as St.Elmo's Fire, Pretty in Pink, Weekend at Bernie's, Weekend at Bernie's II, Mannequin, Class, and Fresh Horses...and of course Less than Zero. His career was on fire in the 80s and he was every bit as famous as Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, and Judd Nelson, as well as Keefer Sutherland. If you grew up in the 80s you knew exactly who Andrew McCarthy was and who he still is. Though he slowed down the number of movie roles he took in the 90s he still acted and the early 2000s. Not at any time during the 80s was Andrew McCarthy an "underrated" actor as you put it and anyone who thinks it wasn't around during their era to see it.
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
@@user-ec3up6qb5p His heart just gave out! Very sad ending!!
@@ricoinsane1930 How so?! NO! I think he'll be fine, and that .... And it seemed to me that there was something, because before they left he was swaying on his feet and fell, but I didn't expect that ... Last time Rip seemed to made him take some drugs again. When he died, he took a lot of drugs, and he was just starting to recover. If it weren't for this Rip, Julian would be alive !!!!
Not really underrated at all. He was very well known back them and made a name for himself fairly quickly because of his great acting
Old school RDJR. This is one great movie & book!
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
Where can I watch the actual movie?
andrew mccarthy is such a good crier and robert downey jr in this scene... truly heartbreaking
It’s wild how years later Andrew is in a movie called The Secret Life Of Zoey where he plays a psychologist who treats teen drug addiction. It feels like this character all grown up and trying to help others.
He was a real drug addict back then he used heroin
I don’t say this often, but the movie was better than the book.
Nah, movie was good but the book sketched much more stylish and vast picture.
100% disagree. the book is a masterpiece. the movie is visually stunning but turns the narrative into a painfully unsubtle piece of sanctimonious moralising.
@@cgm530 woah all the big words. Idek what sanctimonious means
The book was terrible to me nothing to grab onto just bad people doing bad shit.
God forbid they add characters you can actually care about.
You obviously read the book, but you didn't actually take in the book. The movie was a bullshit Hollywood version that didn't even resemble the book
You know… I’m 21 right now, and I grew up watching movies that were made in this time, and even earlier than that…. I’m talking movies like “A Boys Town”. Or “A Patch Of Blue”. And it’s honestly kinda sad to me how movies over the years became more about money than it did talent and passion. I loved this movie because it hit me in a spot that I didn’t know existed
such loyal beautiful friends you can't find anymore
This movie was really sad a tugged on your emotions. You couldn't help but feel for the guy. Even if he chose it in the last moments he was going to go clean or at least actually attempt it. And Rip took away that choice sadly it was his last.
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
@@user-ec3up6qb5p no he started again when he went to see RIP, plus he had some drugs in his pocket
@@smiley1960 This Rip seemed to make him and he was tempted again ...
@@user-ec3up6qb5p For me the giveaway that he was he stumbled after getting high in the bathroom at the gas station. Then he OD'd or had a heart attack and died in his sleep.
@@user-ec3up6qb5phis heart stopped like they explained his addiction got worse when he smoked crack
This was so deeply depressing. It made me sick at times throughout the entire movie
"You can have anything except the way it used to be..."
How did Andrew McCarthy get so gorgeous? It's not fair on everyone else.
He was a beautiful man, wasn't he? He still is.
@@Meriale46 He's the only man I've ever seen who still looks attractive in his 50s.
Such a great movie and soundtrack. ❤
Well, he got his major comeback.
You're going along smooth, then 12 years into his comeback run,
all of a sudden, RDJ is dead. How many times is this ghoul going to put us through the heartache of letting us love him and then go out with a • *snap* •?
Aww, can't stay mad at him, just look at that ageless, immortal face! Love ya 3000, Mr. Downy.
Thomas Newman's soundtrack to this movie is so brillant and haunting... and I have it and I still listen to it and makes you think
Just last week 5 days ago I witnessed an overdose in my house. My life will never be the same.
😢 I'm sorry. I dealt with this as well had to do CPR on my best friend. Thankfully she came back. I'm truly and sorry you experienced this
Be a friend, friends don’t let friends inject Fauci’s killer clot shot. 😮
Julian didn’t die in the book and even if he did, none of the other characters would be crying over it.
I think the character was only seen in the book like twice. He was spoken of a lot but he was rarely seen. But then you wouldn’t have Robert Downey Jr. and his acting if they did it that way.
I should have known that Thomas Newman produced the score here. He also done _American Beauty_ and _Shawshank Redemption._
DAM THIS MOVIE WILL FOREVER BE IN MY HEART, DOWNEY WAS GREAT 👍
Filmaço.
Muito bom !
Nunca esqueço.
..Obrigada
A Devastating movie; I went into it thinking it was a teen comedy of some sort and it's Intense and Harrowing. It needs 4 of 4 🌟 stars. Rotten Tomatoes collectively gives it only 50%
Iron man First Death - Less than Zero
Second Death - Endgame
Equal tearjerking moments 😢
What a scene. Good job ironman 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
@@user-ec3up6qb5p His system probably just shut down from taking too many drugs.
I remember seeing the movie. I said that ain't happening to me. And then the disease of addiction left me dead. I was brought back. Homeless for years. 43 institutions. Lost everything by 2011. GOD SHOWED UP. SOBRIETY AND ALIVE.
I hated James Spader for a decade after this movie.
I need a time machine ASAP ! I need my 80s back !
this will always hurt my heart!! 🥺🥺
Awesome part of movie. Made me cry until she woke up.
I didn't even watch the movie but I'm still crying agh I love rdj so much 😭
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
I cry just watching the clip again.
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
Just like most bangers in the 80s the sound track hit so hard here and when you see her expression when realizing he passed is always when the seen hits she was a great actor its a tough scene.
Id love to hear this music playing after Ironman snaps, and again during his funeral. Imagine Pepper & Peter crying, and hearing this.
One of my Favorite Movies of All TIME..
3:01, you sure did, RDJ. 20 years after this film, you most certainly did.
Great movie!!
Robert Downey Jrs best performance EVER!!!!!
This might be really weird. Well it is..really weird.. I always love 80s and 90s feel movies. I was born in 88. Theres a few movies I remember scenes from when my mom would watch them, my mom only ever watches movies once. And this movie scene always stuck with me. And I have no idea who the actors were or what the movie was called. I just had this thought. That I think I remember the guy looked like a young robert d jr. And I knew his name was julian in the movie so I imdbd it and saw he played a character julian. And here is the scene I've remembered for years and years.. in my memory the scene was nighttime in a parking lot. Why this scene and why would a lightning bolt thought come into my head like that and for this? So weird! Now theres just one more movie I need to find from only remembering a few things..
Yes, I know what you mean, I find for me a lot of movies have that feeling for me because of the score- This movie, Shawshank, Wisdom, Breavheart - you get the idea.
Ok, tell me what you remember about the movie - My 80 movie knowledge is extensive. Provide as much as you can even if you think it may be insignificant.
Yes, tell us what is in the other movie that you remember...
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
@@user-ec3up6qb5p The drugs had already damaged his heart too much, so his heart just quit.
@@maxmulsanne7054 the movie is now on Netflix! It's called single white female. The part I always remembered that stuck with me was a red head and another girl that copied her hair and hair cut. And was really obsessed with her. Also killing her animal, I can't remember if it was a dog or a cat. But that's it and now all the movie scenes I have ever remembered I know the movies
powerful scene
I know that is a sad scene but Jamie looked so cute crying like that she was trying to comfort him like a sister would with her brother and still love him😔❤️
REMEMBER HUGS NOT DRUGS!
I remember watching this almost 5 years ago, the soundtrack for this film was beautiful, and yet this film was panned by critics, I thought it was an underrated film, and had good acting and it was tragic what happened in the end and sent home an important message.
I was way too young to see this when it first came out. I understood what it was about, though I never made an effort to see it. I think I finally got the chance last year, and it hit hard.
Such a great movie!
Great actors all 3❤❤❤
Spader and RDJ were so far above the rest in this group.
For a while way back when, I thought this was ominously prophetic of what was going to happen to RDJ.
My god. One of the safest scenes ever. So heartbreaking
This one and Requiem for a dream really took the fun out of my Heroin addiction
How bout some CPR kids ??
he died from an overdose, his system failed.
It definitely would not have hurt to try.
He died from heart failure CPR wouldn't help.
He was dead for a while. Jamie Gertz puts the jacket on him because his body was already cold.
He was actually a drug addict once
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
I wish I knew that status of that series they were planning. Austin Abrams would be so incredible as Clay.
One of the best movies in my collection. I know it takes alot of heat as not being true to the book, but this movie and the soundtrack is choice.
😭😭😭😭😭
32 years later he dies again as iron man
😢
I have a love hate relationship with this movie for this scene/ending
What’s sad is that this movie is what led to Robert and others addiction.
Yes show us a spoiler before the trailer LOL
I remember this movie ! I watched it years later and where RDJ passes it made me cry knowing what his past was in the 80’s and knowing that he had loving and caring people in his life and got himself cleaned up and off drugs . It was scary knowing that the character in this film was very close to who Robert was….i say to him ….i know that I’m not the only one who has said this to you ….i am proud of you on your sobriety! Enjoy the rest of your life and career as an actor, friend and family man….it is well worth it!❤
I choose to look at this as the RDJ intervention movie. The role that put him in rehab. Without it, there wouldn't be an Iron Man.
Esa no que lloro 😭😭
HUGS NOT DRUGS!
Damn good movie
I love this moment and I hate it to……..
He remains me of my best friend he died from overdose 7 months when I came to check on him to see how he is doing after his girlfriend break up with him
So we’ll acted, this film.
I still cannot believe they didn’t both win Oscar’s and go on to billionaire status for this one scene
Repost with higher volume,otherwise marvoulous
Andrew deals with a lot of death in the content he does
“I’ll always be less than zero. You tried your best with me, I know.” - The Weeknd (2022)
Spectre "out of bullets" brought me here
🥺
:(
Life is about choices. It is hard to feel sorry for someone that chooses substance abuse over your friendship/love.
"Sometimes you can have anything in the world your heart desires, except the way it used to be." - Less Than Zero(1987) - Theatrical Trailer
It might go on forever julian
So what do you do when you find a dead junkie in your car? I mean how do you explain that to the cops?
I’d explain just how it went down
Foi um dos filmes mais difíceis para Robert, é complicado até imaginar todo o que ele estava passando naquela época e ainda fazendo esse papel 🥺
Easy for you to say.
Now we do because he is being showcased on early morning TV
I have to reread this book, I don't remember Julian dying
Where is the blu-ray movie? 20 CENTURY FOX
Si vi esa peli de niña me traume la neta pero esta buena
Probably the same way matthew perry died.
Don’t do CPR or anything, just cry 😂
Baby he died.. 😥😿💔
So true others live so others die DRUGS WTF
Notice how that 87 preview was not even aloud to put crack slash base in it yet that's what the whole movie is about is Julian's addiction to rock. We did not have shit for knowledge then and a president that said just say No!
This movie is so sad b/c the title speaks for itself Less Than Zero, Clay, Blair and Jullian all had money and were rich and young and beautiful and Jullian died b/c he overdosed on drugs and this happens to people in real life and they might have it all and be successful and good looking but in the end These 3 people had nothing. Robert Downey Jr was drug addict in real life and he kicked it and went on to have successful movies like The Avengers Ironman, and Air America Heart and Souls and Soapdish and
Chaplin. The Moral of this story is we all fall down.
Julian why he die?! He stopped taking drugs?
Jamie Gertz was my dream girl, God that woman was beautiful 😍.
Great thing Robert turn his life around
It is funny because I left the theatre at 17 and all I wanted to be was just like Julian..Go figure???
I always thought he used cocaine
Love LOVE Jami Gertz in anything she's ever done.
Try and revive him maybe? :D
