      why did he seem uncomfy right when the video started? Did guru say something before the video started? This can't be the whole interview bcz this is just 6min. I wanted to find the moment where he didn't like guru but it seems like it happened right when the video started, which means there's gotta be more to this interview

      And it after he said "i don't know how comfortable you are", he came with that words by acknowledging Robert's clear annoyed response when saying "are we promoting a movie?" while also saw Roberts gesture and expression, at first i thought the quoted words from the interviewer above meant as an explanation of his annoying previous questions, as an implicit apology, and assure Robert that he will stop himself to ask any more personal question, but instead he went even further like a total dumb, obnoxious and rude person

    I'm proud of him, sticking up for himself and walking away instead.
    The interview was supposed to be about the movie, not a therapy section, and it was a hard time in his life, and he didn't want to talk about it
    He handled it in a mature, respectful way, I think, I wouldn't know what to do tbh

      I think it has more to do with the fact that in interviews there are always questions that are out of line and the PR team gives these « not to be asked » lists of questions to the network.. if it’s not respected then it’s a breach of contract, simple and done. Not everything has to be over sentimental.

    I’m just impressed how quickly him and his team were able to figure out what was going on and take immediate action. And obviously the interviewer was trying to marinate him in his own opinions, and make him say something that he might actually regret.

      Exactly that. They rightfully terminated it. I think it's appalling the way KGM tried to trip him up and use his past against him, when all he wanted to do was talk about the movie. A wasted opportunity. The look on the camera guy's face at the end says it all.

    No, you are being highly intrusive and you can't take an easily identifiable hint. Your interviewee has the right to say or not say whatever they want to, you are on their time, not the other way around. Now in general, people can say or not say whatever they want, but in this specific scenario, it'd be in your best interest to be sociable and open, given that this is your job, mate.

    As a recovering addict, I don't blame him at all for walking out. We don't need to explain why we have done what we've done in the past, we move past it and better ourselves and that is what RDJ has done. Also, this would be aired to the entirety of the world so a definitive no go for myself personally as well.

      I have prayed for this man several times when it was on my heart that he was troubled with drugs and addiction to drugs and I am so proud of Robert Downey Jr. because now he has children and I believe that God saved his life. People need to think before they talk. Why bring up Robert’s past….the past is in the past……he got hurt because this interviewer had to dredge up the past in order to increase his ratings….selfishness always hurts people…lesson learned….this interviewer went way too far.

      Also this interview was 8 years ago. It’s not been pointed out in the comments that RDJ got sober in 2003. And the interviewer asks him if he’s really done with all of that? He’s been sober for 13 years at that point, what a dumbass question. First he shouldn’t have asked that question because the interview was not about his past personal life struggles but a movie promo. Second of all, you don’t ask that question and I don’t know if he meant to frame it how he did - but it seems clear from his body language and language that he didn’t know what he was talking about and just wanted to get some sensationalism out of the interview. Pathetic journalistic integrity.

    6:17...You can see how his mood changed when he started to talk about his father. His face went straight and his breathing went heavy. I applaud the fact that RDJ didn't start a fight or get nasty with him. He just left and removed himself from the situation.

    Notice how Krishnan tenses up a bit and hesitates before asking Robert the last question. He KNEW that what he was about to ask was inappropriate and over the line, yet he asked it anyway.

    As a PTSD patient I could sense and see the signs of negative trigger in him, in his mimic, his breathing etc. It's not a nice feeling to be triggered like that, I am glad the lady in the background helped him to stop the interview.

    As someone who suffers with Father issues and addiction I can see why he walked off... He handled that way better than I would have..... Anyone who fights their demons everyday would react the same way to someone asking if they're over their struggles... Robert Downey Jr. Is a class act in my opinion.

      This channel does that intentionally. They want them to bring up controversy and past traumas that the person has gone through because they know they'll either walk out or have a warranted freak out moment which will get views. Hence why this currently has 14 million views.

    I know this is an old interview but I am with RDJ and totally understand him. Why did the interviewer turn something that was supposed to be promoting the movie into a sort of "therapy session". Leave the personal questions out, dude. Robert's body language about that looked so uncomfortable and I don't blame him for walking out.

    yes, you can see him getting progressively more agitated after about the 4:00 point but what’s heartbreaking is visibly seeing him get more and more uncomfortable and his breathing get heavier while his stare zeroes in. I just wanna give him a hug in that moment.

      Would'VE.
      It's impossible to follow "would" with a preposition like "of".
      You ever hear "would to", "would at", "would on" etc?
      See how ridiculous it sounds?
      You have heard the contracted form of "would HAVE" (auxiliary verb) your whole life, which is "would've".
      It sounds exactly like "would of".
      Unfortunately, lots of others make this same mistake, which reinforces its validity for you.

    Dang dude, as a former addict/alcoholic myself, my heart broke while I was watching this. Especially when the interviewer brought up his dad. I am extremely embarrassed about my past and I can only imagine how rdj felt during this exchange.

    I really like how he paused to say "you're okay," it's just the way you're coming at me. Like that's really gracious that he went to the extra effort to make it clear he wasn't mad or hateful and he wasn't trying to fight.

    So relieved to come on here and see majority of the comments are for Robert 😌 I felt so bad for him and my mood changed too at 4 minutes. It took a dark turn in a direction that was disrespectful and irrelevant to the interview and definitely none of their business! I applaud him for walking out!👏👏👏

    He is a class act. The interviewer was clearly trying to act like a douche, and rdj wasnt having it. There is a right way to ask questions, and a wrong way. He took a demeaning tone and looked down his nose at him, and as a former alcoholic, you don't demean them after they have changed. It isnt wrong to ask about the past and lessons learned but you dont do it the way he did. Downey had every right to be upset, but he kept his composure.

    RDj is pure class, he exudes so much tolerance and grace, even when some berk is dredging up his ancient past history that no-one touches anymore. Robert is way beyond it now and has proven he is a stable, successful and classy individual ;a sheer lack of professionalism & pure rudeness on behalf of Guru Murthy and a complete lack of tact and good taste too. Robert behaves like a true gent with an open and honest heart, isn't it about time that this level of intrusive and hurtful " journalism " was consigned to the past ? I certainly think so, Robert will always be a Bright Shining Star !

    The worst thing about this is that Robert Downey jr tried to save this interview a couple of times by diverting the attention away from his private life and back to his new movie. He also tried to play it off as a joke. He gave this interviewer so many outs and opportunities to read the room and change his course, it’s ridiculous.
    When he realised that that wouldn’t happen he set his boundaries. Good for him!

    Robert already had a difficult childhood and youth because of his father. This dishonor is bleeding the man's bleeding wound again for the sake of rating. Robert still remained calm, but his eyes filled with tears. We love you JR.

      So it’s an EXTREMELY touchy subject for him.

    Robert Downey Jr is my all time favorite actor. I love the wolverine and iron man, and growing up, the 1st movie was just so awesome. And for a long time growing up as a kid I thought that Robert Downey Jr acted exactly like iron man off screen. He played it so well. And it wasn’t for awhile before I heard about the 90s and what not. But honestly the fact that he moved past that is all that matters.

    As a kid I never understood why reporters would be attacked or why celebrities lost their cool. As I've gotten older, I wonder why it doesn't happen more often. Good for RDJ.

      Yeah unfortunately it takes us growing up to see the subtleties of actions perpetrated by slimeballs like this reporter who will turn right around and deny they are trying to poke the bear. It's happening a lot in political discourse as well. What a coward.

    Robert Downey Jr., is such a brilliant actor and a great singer as well. I am thinking he is one of the most intelligent actors out there. What a blessing it is to see him perform. It was impressive how RDJ stayed gracious and poised, when the interviewer tried to pry about Downey's personal life. Too bad that the interviewer did not stop that line of questioning.

    You can see that he was trying to explain that his views changed&how they dont apply to what he thinks. He handled it quite politely. Im surprised how that guy just over steps the interview&asks inappropriate questions. If i was allowed the privilege to interview RDJ i would ask questions about how he was able to overcome his issues&what strengths he attributes it to, like the guy is such a caring kind of person. Truly classy cuz you can tell he is fighting back rage to tell that guy off..i feel like a "how dare you" was coming out next from him

    4:03 Smile vanishes, looks at publicist for reassurance, publicist says keep rolling, nothing too weird right now. Smiles again, more nervously, just for the camera.
    4:18 Starts to breathe faster. Gives a close-ended answer and hints the interviewer to move on.
    4:58 "Are we promoting a movie?" Looks at publicist silently: "Where is he going with this?" Agent's like yeah RDJ, this guy's going off tangent.
    5:37 Coughs nervously, fidgets in his seat, looks around the room. "You have as much time as anyone else." Tight closed smile. Eyes staring hard. (At this point interviewer should have apologised gracefully and continued to talk about the movie instead of dwelling on RDJ'S personal past, which is ancient history to the rest of the world.)
    5:50 Looks around the room again. It's obvious RDJ doesn't want to be there anymore.
    5:57 "Your foot's starting to jump a little bit", you better get to your next question." Stares harder. Smile all but gone. Point of no return for the interviewer - there's no graceful way out of this.
    6:15 Obviously hyperventilating now. Belligerent face that says "Dude you're this close to getting punched in the nose if I had my way. We're done here."
    6:30 "I'm sorry, I really don't...w-what are we doing?" Looks at publicist, "let's end this". "Right...bye!"
    6:40 Interviewer looks at him like a complete lemon as he gets up.
    6:48 "You seem okay, it's just getting a little Diane Sawyer in here." Awesome repartée insult.
    In short: Krishnan has no clue how to read body language. The man has the interviewing skills of a peanut. I'm surprised he still has a job in the broadcasting industry as at 2022.

    The question isn't exactly offensive, but it's very personal, and just because someone is a celebrity doesn't mean they have to be an open book to everyone. Everyones past is there past, the only people who need to remember it are the ones who lived though it!

    Always remembered him from his first film from 1984 with James Spader in Tuff Turf,in real life he went through a period like the character he played in the 1987 film Less than Zero,which also starred James Spader.Marvel movies revived his career,made him almost as wealthy as the most successful young actor from the 80s,Tom Cruise.
