At least he’s honest! This dude is trying to get a “gotacha” quote and he’s not getting it. I love it.
He made Pulp Fiction, not Pulp Reality.
He showed the brutality that slaves went through. He wasn't glorifying the violence. He was showing the sad, horrific truth.

@[The] White Rabbit You truly think stuff that happened in the movie never happened to slaves in real life? I'm sorry but it did. That and worse. Some were probably treated well, sure, but a lot were treated horribly. Beaten so badly they were crippled, raped, starved, neglected, and humiliated. Quentin was just showing what many slaves suffered through. I can't believe you think slaves weren't abused. They were human beings treated worse than a dog. That right there is far from respectful. British interviewers have been known to ask challenging questions.
Yale Warren Yes a british citizen on a british network.
In Britain interviews are there for the sake of asking questions, getting answers and being impartial. It’s not like the US where everything needs to be milked for profit
Alex Grimshaw stfu anglo
It’s not a commercial. It’s a news network doing an interview. Here in Britain we have serious discussions.
I'm half black and I had never watched movies about slavery. To be honest it was upsetting and hard to take in. I watched Django and what a masterpiece, people were upset at the use of the N word but you could not have told that story and conveyed the absolutely appalling situation that was slavery without it. It truly immersed you into that world and made it real, it was shocking and I think that was good thing and on top of that you got an amazing cast that ended up making an amazing modern day western. Art has to be allowed to explore period.
lol
If you're also half white, go dig around the internet for the somewhat hidden stories of all the white slaves killed by African rulers in earlier times, and the white slaves taken to America.
Nice try Quentin Bot!
Simp!
Why would a film about slavery be hard to take in? It’s been as common in human history as any other horrible deed. Do you also not watch movies that involve war or murder?
I think Quinton was very fair and honest with his refusal to answer certain questions.
Normally once a conversation gets heated the person being interviewed will normally walk away but Quinton gave him every opportunity to ask constructive questions after the offending one's.
He was a petulant child.
Rape? This guy even watch the movie?
The part of the weird douchebag doctor, but is implicit and the fucking interviewer is overreacting.
It was implied but this guy is acting like their were multiple, rape scenes that were brutal. This guy has an agenda (and most do, the more upset he can get the actors, the more attention he gets) but God damn, does this guy realize how many people would die to have an 6 minute interview with QT? It's just over done and annoying to me
There is a rape scene in the movie but it's a deleted scene. It's when django is still a slave for that old guy in a wheelchair. Django and Broomhilda are having sex than a bunch of hillbillies come in and rape her while making him watch. I can see why it was cut
Deleted scenes are obviously not in the film. This was before the blu ray came out, he just went off what he seen or heard about it then asked a dumb questions. In the actual movie Django, there is no rape scene.
+Kyle P They were talking about the brutality of the time and the brutality of slavery in general which meant that the question was directed to that, NOT a specific scene in the movie. It seems that Tarantino just reacted like that because he was pissed already, having the commercial interview not going the way he wanted it to.
Damn this looks like a scene he directed himself!😂
Elias E wish Tarantino would’ve gone thru a Django like journey going thru all these interviewers and getting revenge
I know exactly what you were thinkin'
But the scene would be more like a lot of bad words and blood and maybe a mexican duel even with only two people on scene
The interviewer is still professional...but pissing people off ain't a good option ever. I mean that's the kind of interviewer who risks everything to get what fans wanted.
Not really. This interviewer wouldn't get out of that room alive in a QT movie.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy is the least self-aware person I've ever witnessed. This guy's inability to read the room is LEGENDARY.
You're missing his job, which is to get juicy bits out of people, get them in controversy or just to generate an entertaining segment, which he is an expert at looking at the views his interviews get.
He's a genius and a good worker, it may not be ethical and what not, but that's what he is here for.
Krishnan has a very simple way of getting narcissists and sociopaths to come out of hiding. It's much easier with American's for all sort of psychological reasons; one being how extreme their minds can be; they're rarely in grey areas and this is the area to be in to catch them. You can see Krishnan's smirk as he knows he's captured their real selves on tape which is what any interviewer and audience would look for. Downey Jr walked into the interview room with hands in pockets, chewing gum, avoiding everyone, and walked to a window, looked out and was clearly intent on starting trouble and again by doing so captured a side to him that I imagine he would want hidden. I avoid all his films after seeing such behaviour and learned he is drug addict. They're all their own worse enemies it seems. I've seen Tarantio behave very badly in reality that is beyond frightening. I avoid them. Gibson would be another who should be in an institution and away from the public.
@@Omnicient.Americans have extreme minds? What is meant by that? What data or research are you using? What methodology was used to come to such conclusions?
I don't see any bad behaviour by Tarantino in this clip. He expresses when a boundary is being crossed in a direct manor, defends his position, makes no personal attacks, and doesn't take the interaction personally. This is healthy communication that very few people engage in.
The interviewer on the other hand disrespects Tarantino by ignoring the communicated boundary. The interviewer also appears cold, callus, and calculating the whole time. He shows no emotional responses, which would be normal in the situation.

In the Robert Downey, Jr. walk-out clip, there's an annotation linking to this video that says, "Watch Quentin Tarantino tell Krishnan: I'm shutting your butt down!" Channel 4 is actually *PROUD* of this shit. It seems like they're actually CONDONING Krishnan Guru-Murthy's unprofessional journalism for the views. Bravo, Channel 4. Bravo.
zhaquiri they seem to be under the mistaken impression that there is no such thing as bad publicity for their channel. People are not laughing with them, they are laughing at them, and Channel 4 may soon find itself being left off the list for press tours like Downey jr, Tarantino etc.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy is simply not a good interviewer - he tries to dig and stir but he is so obvious that they see him coming a mile off. Louis Theroux he is not. Guru-Murthy has had his opportunities and should really now be sidelined so that somebody else can be given a chance.
I hope that there is somebody at Channel 4 News with the power to do this, somebody not afraid of having the race card dropped on them, because the fallout from the Downey Jr fiasco is the perfect opportunity.
I know, it's sick. Guru-Murphy needs to GO.
John O'Regan Here's to hoping this whole thing gets around so much that many celebrities and political figures will hear about it, then proceed to blacklist Channel 4, or at least the mouth-breathing fool called Krishnan Guru-Murthy, from any of their press tours.
We don't need to do much, it looks like, because Channel 4 is doing the spreading all by itself. "Look at how unprofessional we are! Wan't to see more? Here's an annotation linking you to more unprofessional shit from us! Woo-hoo!"
zhaquiri Since that Robert Downey Jr. interview Krishnan has been getting a lot of stick. He was definitely out of line in that interview, but I don't totally blame him though. I mean it's like you said, Channel 4 are promoting this stuff and I feel it's part of a strategy. So I don't think it's all Krishnan, I think a lot of his more sensitive questions and the controversy he creates are something his employers want him to do.
Matthew Burke I don't know. He already received flack for the Tarantino incident, not the mention the others. Even IF it's part of Channel 4's "strategy" and it's not all Krishnan, it seems to me like he's loving this. I mean, come on, no self-respecting journalist actually "goes along" with crossing the line, especially if they've already received backlash over it in the past. The fact that he's doing it at all, regardless of Channel 4's direct involvement, is problematic. Channel 4 being "proud" of this is a different problem altogether.
You get the feeling the interviewer is just now learning what movies are.
truly
It's so fascinating watching an impassioned artist tackling challenging pointed questions as opposed to a politician. There's no act, there's no trying to walk backwards from a conclusion and trying to justify it. It's just pure excitement and love for the ideas that stimulate them.

To be honest, I’m not a fan of his at all but I really think Guru-Murthy handles the situation well here. It’s the nature of the show to try and touch on issues that affect the real world, as much as it is the nature of Tarantino to simply sell his movie. No one is at fault, it’s just a very interesting clash of dynamics

I think violence in cinema is important, especially to first-world middle- to upper-class people. I feel like violence is a reminder of the world we live in. One would be naive to think that we've grown past the evils of the past, and while we've made progress, the potential for that evil is still in us--and is still practiced--to this day.
I like violent films because they take us out from our sheltered, naive lifestyles that could easily come crashing down once we are forced to face the worst of what life has to offer.
I love this point of view. Never looked at it from this perspective and these discussions need to happen without people trying to muzzle each other. It doesn’t cost to listen it is what brings wisdom.

I'm with Tarantino on this one. He lost his temper, but that interviewer was out of line.
NGM Movies The interviewer was out of line by asking him questions?
When you go on a show like that, it's to promote your movie. The interviewer shouldn't have been bringing up controversy about the movie. Tarantino wasn't there to defend his movie, he was there to promote it, which the interviewer knew. Even when Tarantino told him, he continued down that line of questioning.
NGM Movies On top of that, Tarantino already stated that he didn't want to answer those questions. If he doesn't want to he doesn't have to. It's his right to not answer that question. The interviewer should have simply accepted that.
NGM Movies Channel 4 news don't do film reviews, he should have been told

PowderxAsphalt SJ I know. I honestly hope this guy never gets another interviewing job again. Completely deceptive hack. Intentionally gets celebs on the show to “sponsor their movie” just so he can ask them personal, inappropriate, and sensitive questions. Fucking joke of an interviewer
Ther interviewer clearly has an agenda - it's as if he's already thinking what he'll ask next without even listening to Quentin. Really snide.
This guy does a good job and pissing off almost everyone he brings on.
"But Jamie Fox has said..."
"Well then, you should talk to Jamie Fox about that"
King of dialogue.
Imagine if a woman, especially a black woman had that type of sass and checked the interviewer. Quentin was right but I’m just envious of his white make privilege to show emotions without being judged.

Herp Derp Yeah, gotta agree, I would actually pray to Yeezus for that to happen, Guru-Murthy gets on my nerves with his manner of interviewing and provoking.

Quentin could see right through this guy’s bullshit. Props to him for refusing to take part in this guy’s little game. Such a legend.
So true. Mad respect for quentin Tarantino
I don't like the interviewer, but I don't think his questions were that controversial. Genuinely I think Quentin overreacted a bit.
At least Tarantino also continued the interview after saying no. Most celebs would just get up and walk out. Such delicate flowers.
Tarantino has always been like that. He's someone who doesn't hold back on something.
Actually he couldn't see thru it.. The BBC is not allowed to promote anything, and QT's assertion that "this is a commercial" is completely false; the BBC isn't even allowed to promote the film to begin with, so Guru-Murthy is interviwing QT himself as a person instead.
I love how Tarantino gets calmed when he got asked about the directors and the movies when they got old they get better
I like how him saying, "I'm not your slave and you're not my master," ties into the movie in a way.
Hegelian Quentin ❤
are you sure man? seems like kind of a stretch
I found it cliched and inappropriate
Think that's what he was going for
BZLB Exactly that’s some fine marketing right from start to finish
How dose this interviewer have a job still?
It's because of this he has this job.
He tried to do the same to RDJ and probably others. This normally means that his employers are asking him for this as he would be fired from anyone else for doing this.
does*
Nothing's wrong with him.
He had an interview with Robert Downey Jr. that got so personal in the final few minutes that RDJ walked out.
He also had an interview with Richard Ayoade that went to shit almost immediately, but more 'comically' than 'awkwardly'.
His interviews may often go south but they're entertaining, and they attract audiences.
Add to that his otherwise very impressive and professional career (check Krishnan Guru-Murthy on wikipedia), so it's unsurprising that his employers don't tend to look harshly on incidents like this.
The interviewer keep pressing him into saying he's a psychopath lol
Dunno who's worse: the interviewer or the cameraman who can't properly frame or focus on him.

That gave me anxiety
Tarantino's behavior here was from "great maturity"... Tarantino fans are almost as dumb as his movies XD
@@dijonjohn1011 well if he were to keep arguing even after the passive-aggressive interviewer asked the next question, then he would be immature. The fact that he was not set on fire after the interviewer got back on track proves that he is a mature guy.

I love how confident Quentin is when it comes to his movies. He knows what he makes and he knows that it’s quality work.
He knows his art and he knows how to defend it.
Yes. He's doing it to have fun and he knows his audience understands and likes it. And he doesn't care if someone doesn't.
Ncbi has over 50 years of the best science based experimental research that documents scientists testing thousands of kids that became more aggressive and violent and had anxiety related genetic changes thanks to violent games and films. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2704015/ I pity his morality. He's immoral because he thinks Kill Bills movie ratings dont apply to a 12 year old. Maybe he should have done his home work. Reporter Jan Wahl was right. Films cause real life violence. Another case were the mass murders by James Holmes. Quentin Tarantino is also not a moral man saying he would of beat up that cameraman paparazzi if he didnt have his camera. Thats immorality. You cant just attack someone for that reason. You can only defend yourself and he wasnt in danger. He may be rich but he is a character of poor stature. Id rather be decent than rich. Or friends with a rapist like Weinstein. He wouldnt stand a chance with me. He would get so angry he would probably try throw fists because he knows Im right.

@@73challenger5031 *sigh* so it's about lefties now?
@ThatKidWhoLiesAboutHisAge OnTheInternetMy point was, and is, If an artist produces a movie, it's HIS or HER art. Nothing more or nothing less. If audiences like or don't like the message it sends to them, personally, then don't pay money to go see it. Vote with your dollar, so to speak. Don't go to the artist and complain about how he or she could've made it more to their political liking. Just like how you misread my original comment and had to spew profanity and resort to name-calling. It's my opinion and, if you don't like it, well, welcome to the USA!
@ThatKidWhoLiesAboutHisAge OnTheInternetFunny, I don't remember saying any of that. I expressed that, IMO, the person of the video had a lefty slant to her question that had no business being asked. An artist rises and falls in the country based on his or her own merit. If someone doesn't like the underlying message of the art, they should not buy it. Only a communist would demand an artist bend to their will. That is all.
