According to Ray Peat: "Niacinamide is a nutrient that inhibits the release of fatty acids, and it also activates phagocytic activity and lowers phosphate. It protects against the development of scars in the spinal cord injuries, facilitates recovery from traumatic brain injury, and accelerates healing generally. While it generally supports immunity, it’s protective against autoimmunity. It can cause tumor cells to either mature or disintegrate, but it prolongs the replicate life o cultured cells, and protects against excitotoxicity."

You said that Niacin helps improve HDL and lower LDL. You also said the daily recommended dose was 20mg. However when doctors prescribe Niacin for modifying patient lipids, they do so at much much much higher doses (like 1000mg or more likely more). Does Niacin at such low levels have any impact on HDL and LDL? Is there any research to back that up?

I take bout 809-to 1,000 per day, sometimes more. It really helps me. B3 conversed food into energy, but I mean real food, not a McDonald's meal, not a twinkie, if u know what I mean...

@@meme-tf8ih I've given up on Niacin. Between the niacin flush (bearable, if there would have been benefits), and no observable change in HDL and LDL, I decided to try other things. I'm looking into Omega 3 capsules, although I'm going to watch out for increased bruising. This is not advice.

On a piece about the benefits of b3, why do you not list the main sources, ie things like liver, pork, tuna, turkey, etc, and instead start your list with items that are relatively low in this vitamin?

Shouldn't almost everyone in the world have niacin deficiency. It doesn't seem that food can provide enough, unless the dietary recommendations are just balony.
