I love the look of the uniform bezel around the KTC. I really hope more monitors go that direction. I want to look at the screen without the ugly logo all day 😅

Yesterday I bought this KTC monitor on Amazon for $600 + tax after a $200 coupon that was on Amazon on the page that showed this monitor. Can't wait to get it. According to KTC Support there's a "Reading Mode" that disables ABL which is their uniform brightness equivalent.
Interesting. Not once did KTC mention this to us and they’ve seen both our written review and this video. I’ll check it out though, that would def make a difference if it works as intended

I had chance to check this today and there is no such reading mode available on the G27P6 at all. There's only two preset modes, standard and user, but nowhere in the menu or any of the shortcut menus is there a reading mode i'm afraid.
I saw that this mode is only available on US versions of this monitor, which might be the issue here
I’ve asked KTC about it as a user from China also had some other preset modes on their screen, despite their firmware version being listed as an earlier version. Theirs was 1.70, but ours is listed as 3.10. Trying to find out what’s available

For me as someone who uses the monitor for both gaming and office/image creation etc. thats definitly a must have. The subpixel layout has been a bit problematic for windows office use, you did not mention it in this video though, or have I missed it?
What other competitors with uniform brightness mode does the ASUS have that I should look into?
The sub pixel layout is the same on both and has a similar impact on text clarity. The LG 27GR95QE operates without ABL for desktop use but is quite a lot darker for HDR content. I’m not sure about the other 27” OLED models, I think the Corsair model has a uniform brightness mode too

The LG ultra gear 27” OLED is on sale with 22% off. I was thinking of purchasing the ASUS monitor however, it’s not on sale. I noticed they’re the same spec but with different peak brightness with the Asus at 1000nits and LG’s at 750 nits.
My question is whether or not you would recommend I buy the LG at 22% off versus buying the Asus at its full price tag?
Currently, I run Asus pg279q which is an IPS display and I have it at 50% brightness 24/7 as a reference for my personal usage.

Hi, I read online claims about there being a "Reader/Reading" mode being available for this monitor, however another person claimed it was region-locked for NA only? Do you have potentially have any further information regarding this topic?
That’s true, it’s a feature only in the NA firmware for some reason. We have that with us now so will be retesting it soon to see if that mode brings anything of value.
Very good review. I should point out that the KTC is often on really good bargain sales. I purchase my Nov. 21, 2023. The list price was $699.99 and I received a $100 savings coupon from Amazon for the KTC. With Tax, my total cost was $662.99. At the time, I do not think there was a better deal for a 27" monitor available. I love the monitor and all the features. KTC is pretty incredible and few buyer understand how much of the monitor market is made available by KTC in one way or another.
Really good review. I thought it was very fair. But I wonder what the summary would have been if there were a $400 difference between the monitors. KTC is hitting a market that Asus is not interested to reach. As usual, the "Asus Markup" is apparent, but Asus does usually add features that make the "Asus Markup" if you have the money and requirement for the added extras.
I ended up getting this monitor. However, the colors seem very dull in HDR compared to my 48” lg CX. I don’t think is the matte coating because the LG 27 oled didn’t look like this. The only issue with that monitor was brightness. Is this a settings issue?
Not really but are you def running HDR content? When you first enable HDR in windows the screen will switch from its native wide gamut mode in to an sRGB emulation mode for windows which will def make the colours look duller. But when you then view actual HDR content it should operate in wide gamut again
Hello there I read that the asus has a automatic feature that prevents it from burning in where u don’t have to do anything yourself and I don’t know if the ktc has that aswell because I’d rather not buy it if I have to change my background every week and be careful when I leave my pc setup for a cigarette or so

I have the Asus version, so far it's honestly been great for my needs (coming from the PG279Q which served me well over the years)
The only question I have is that with the announcement of the 32" Semi-Glossy Version, I am wondering whether it is going to a viable upgrade in terms of image clarity,
I tend to play games in 4K downsampled to 1440p using Nvidia DSR. (the difference for me really is quite noticeable, albeit the image having varying blurriness levels per game)
I'm looking to properly move to 4K native, but on the 32" Will I see a noticeable difference in PPI/Clarity with a native res compared to downsampling?
I sit roughly 1 Meter away from the screen normally if that makes any difference
Do you see visual benefit in downscaling from 4k to 1440p instead of just setting at native 1440p to start with? I think either way, you’d see a nice improvement in picture quality and sharpness moving to a true 4K screen tbh

4K DSR to 1440p is how I've been playing most if not all games since acquiring a 4000 series card at the start of this year
I will chance it with the 4K version, as im sold on it more for the screen real estate and improved text clarity (which the 27AQDM really is not great at)

If so, from your review and a gaming standpoint this monitor could well be better than the Asus.
You mentioned HDMI 2.0 and its limitations, but what about DP 1.4? Both monitors have that connection, and DP 1.4 can support 1440p @ 240Hz, right? My use case is connecting it to a gaming PC.
Correct. DisplayPort 1.4 is fine for Pc connectivity
Am I crazy or my eyes are bad. I just bought the ktc and loaded a few games (hitman 3, rdr2, apex legends Fortnite). Calibrated to tft recommended settings as a start. Played the games with windows calibrated hdr on. And honestly it looks the same as my 1440p ips monitor from msi. Sure there are minor and subtle differences in how it looks but nothing like as big of difference people are making it to be. The only major difference is my black background is noticeably black on the oled compared to the ips but in game it seems to equalize and look the same. Am I doing something wrong? Also playing in a dark room.
What’s your current IPS monitor? Are you def enabling HDR mode in windows before you start a game, and is the OSD showing that it’s running in HDR mode?
@@tftcentral yes I’m enabling everything. I even did the windows hdr calibration. It shows hdr standard in the osd I also tried the hdr cinema with warm color temp setting.

wait no 2.1 hdmi ports? on the descriptions on Amazon/Newegg says they come with 2.1 .. can anyone confirm, its important for VRR on PS5.
We couldn’t get anything more than 4K 60Hz out of them in our testing. And VRR was only available when adaptive sync in the OSD was enabled, suggesting it’s using FreeSync over HDMI from v2.0 ports, and not HDMI-VRR from 2.1 ports
@@tftcentral I would be keeping in 1440p. I have a pc and ps5 and just wanted to be sure I could achieve the 120hertz w VRR enabled when on the the PS5
@tresxlord2610 120Hz will work but I’m not 100% sure either way on VRR as sadly don’t have a PS5 to test. My gut tells me it won’t work for that console

Can you upgrade the firmware on the KTC monitor? I ask because the higher end monitors DO have the capacity for firmware updates, so not having a universal brightness mode COULD be something they implement with a firmware update IF that's an option with this monitor. If there isn't a firmware update capability, then I'd honestly turn it down.
It’s hard to know for sure as there’s nothing obvious in the OSD. But KTC have released new firmwares for some of their other screens so I suspect it’s the same here. Whether they will or not is another question of course

Wouldn't that be pretty ridiculous if they didn't? Now you got me wondering too, I just bought this today as a bit of an impulse purchase but the price was too good to turn down. But damn, if they don't ever even provide firmware support for a high end premium monitor thatd be insane

It’s the same panel but it needs to be implemented on the scaler and software side. Agree it’s a shame it’s not included

We no longer have them to double check but they should support those intermediate refresh rates

key point is that both have hdmi 2.0. LG (cheaper than Asus) has hdmi 2.1
