Why is nobody mentioning that there was 1:30 left on the clock. Allen goes for the touchdown 2 plays in a row. He had Diggs underneath for the first down, he didn’t have to go for the home run. Especially considering that Mahomes beat you in the past with only 17 seconds. He should’ve taken the check down and kept the drive going. This loss is on josh Allen.

But to say the loss was on him, I disagree.

Even if Bass made that FG, the Chiefs easily made a drive to consume the rest of the clock and let Butker win it. The Bills needed to bleed that clock all the way to less than 30 seconds and score a TD, leaving the Chiefs no time. That throw to the endzone was a killer. They were marching fine with the shorter gains.

1:47 left, can't leave Mahomes any time on the clock. Allen had chances to convert the 2nd and 9, check down to Diggs would have kept the clock running and convert. Why leave it in the hands of the kicker 44 yards away with the weather as a factor. Not 100% his fault. Instead Allen goes deep twice?
The halftime adjustments the chiefs made is the difference. Their defense came out swinging in the second half

I'm a Patrick Mahomes homer, but I agree with Dan - this scrutiny on Josh Allen is ridiculous. Both QBs had absolutely incredible games. If the Chiefs had lost, would we have to blast Patrick Mahomes for not hitting Travis Kelce for that 3rd touchdown?
If they won, they would be talking like he is the man with the same stats. Now that they lost, those same numbers were not enough. If the kick was made, it would have been back square 1 and on mahomes to drive and win, which is out of joshs hands since hes on offense.

Dan actually has some good points in defense of Josh Allen here. Everyone who watched the game yesterday could see Josh had a good game, but once again he was slightly outplayed by Mahomes in the Playoffs.
What I find funny about this debate though is that Shannon keeps refering to the fact: "You have to get it done, when it matters the most!" and is critisizing Josh Allen for that one throw he didnt make but when it is about the NBA and LeBron he has a double standard...
Suddenly he will talk about the plays and the great game LeBron had up to a certain point and not the fact that he missed some crucial shots and couldn't get it done in the end.
Or sometimes like in yesterdays game in certain moments it does not always come down to the Superstars and the outcome is determined by the fact wether or not a role player doesn't show up.
Note: Adding to that the NFL is way more punishing than the NBA in terms of playoffs. We have a much smaller sample size and it really is literally a game of inches.

The difference is that Lebron in his 21 years in the NBA he has shown that he can come through in the playoffs and win multiple championships, he earned the right to have the benefits of the doubt because we know he can win rings. Josh Allen hasn't proven that he can do that, so the criticism will be harsher because he is good enough to expect him to pull through proved it on the biggest stage but he keeps falling short at the same exact point. him missing that one throw is more detrimental to him than lebron missing a clutch jumper simply because we've seen lebron come through when its all on the line.
Careful if you say anything bad about Lebron Shannon will have to be hospitalized. Someone might want to mention to him that virtually everyone said the same things about Elway too who Shannon played with most of his career right up until his last 2 seasons when they finally got a good defense and running game.

Diggs was a no show and their kicker lost the game. Also... the Bills should have methodically used the run game and short passes on the last possession to milk the clock and control the line of scrimmage instead of calling random plays.

Dan has been consistent about pointing out drops counting against qbs all season, he said it when lamar and mahomes's guys were doing the same earlier in the season. Let's be fair.

Actually last superbowl they wanted Kansas to win with that holding call against the Eagles. And the superbowl before that was decided by a flag against the Bengals in favor of the Rams. The game was a prime example of "You win as a team, you lose as a team". Which is what Josh Allen even said after the game. The guy was exceptional for 98% of the game. He did ALMOST everything he could to succeed. But ultimately, they couldn't get Bass close enough to nail the FG.
They lost but it was FAR from an effort for Allen to be ashamed of.
But that’s not the fun take to admit both QB’s did a phenomenal job and at the end one team had to lose. Allen did play phenomenally, made plays when he could, and took what the defense gave him, it just wasn’t enough. Mahomes carved up that Buffalo defense with ease, and that was honestly the difference. Everytime KC had the ball, they’d score incredibly fast because Buffalo and McDermott had no answers. KC forced them to work for everything, hence the TOP difference, and for the most part Buffalo did it. Like you said, they couldn’t finish the job, and then Bass couldn’t make the kick. There are much bigger problems in Buffalo than the imaginary Josh Allen choking narrative, like Sean McDermott’s coaching, Stefon Diggs being invisible on the field, and even the skill positions overall.

When you throw a 60 yard bomb for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter that literally hits your receiver in the hands, you made the play when it MATTERED. Mahomes wasn't perfect. Allen wasn't perfect. They were definitely not on 2 completely different levels last night. They both played well and were both a lot of fun to watch.
This is one thing that sucks about sports analysis, whenever a kicker makes kicks they give the QB the praise, “ohh he drove down the field” but when a kicker doesn’t make it then it’s “the kicker missed the kick, the QB did everything right” no he didn’t if he did everything right then he would’ve scored a touchdown, asking your kicker to bail you out from 44 yards in unpredictable weather and wind then blaming him for the loss is silly

I lowkey see both sides to this argument. Dan made the most sense in terms of play Josh Allen did play well enough to win and gave them an opportunity but his teammates let him down in certain moments a la (diggs, Sheffield, Dawkins, head coach) however there were instances where Josh Allen could’ve made better decisions which potentially cost him the game. On the last drive He missed the wide open drag by Diggs and on 3rd down he missed shakir wide open for a first down which led to the missed field goal. So you could argue he sold the game as well
Dude, you literally answered your own question where there is only 1 side. Josh did things on his own in key moments that cost them the game/that’s it. Mahomes didn’t where it’s just the luck of the draw/players actually caught the ball etc. That was the argument. The problem was. Dan kept interpreting it as if they said Josh played bad or it’s his fault for drops. Which wasn’t their point. It’s simply like a test, if you scored a 99% on a test. For whatever reason JA is not seeing the field as well this year. There was a sequence after he fumbled where he almost threw two interceptions in a row. That why I understood why so many screens were called. There was no intermediate pass game. Once the chiefs clamped down on the run, he tried to press with the deep throws and either missed or it got dropped. The bills need to pick up Saquon or King Henry, change their offense to a run first play action heavy scheme, and pick up a new big body #1 wr. I think that’s their best chance to win it all.

Ironically, the Bills were ALMOST looking like the Chiefs with how much they were dropping passes. It was hard to watch. That Hardman fumble into the endzone was a gift from the heavens... and Buffalo still didn't take advantage of it. I like Josh Allen a lot, but he might end up going down as one of the best QB's to never win (or make it) to a Superbowl.
