    Short answer? Yes. I do pedal my ebike. Most of the time I enjoy riding quite slow in pedal assist 2 or 3 but it is great to have the ability to kick it into 5 and hit the throttle and ball when I feel the need for speed lol. Its a heavy bike, and it would really stink if I had to pedal without assist, although it is possible to ride slowly without any power assist. It more efficient to pedal along with the bike, especially to help get up the bigger hills. The motor does a great job on its own, but "teamwork makes the dream work" as the saying goes, so any help is going to increase the overall range.

    I only peddle when I see a cop 👮‍♂️ muscle memory from the old motorized bike days. Other than that, I'm a throttle junkie all the way & like just cruising around w zero effort - there's something magical about it.

    Tried pedaling a Mars with the power off & got 1.5 blocks on the 66lb beast. Took the chain off as it rubbed the saddlebags installed & at 20mph full speed everywhere, it's just ghost pedaling anyway. So took the chain ring, derailleur & shifter off to save weight & roatated a crank arm to match hang down & used as footpegs. It's legal in CA not to have foot throttles & have handlebar throttles only & still be classified as a Class 2 EBIKE.

    Yes, close to thirty miles (out of 45) today. Would have done more but for growing pain more or less everywhere. Just got into the ibuprofen, and hope it kicks in soon!

    Yes, I pedal. I love cycling.

    I pedal my ebike 99% of the time. I only use the throttle to get moving from a full stop for five seconds until I’m back in the saddle and pedaling again.

    I pedal all the time, only when I am waiting at a red light in a busy intersection, I will sometimes throttle to safely get going, once I do, i will start pedaling again.

    Yes, I mostly pedal at PAS 2 or 3, but I'll occasionally throttle to give my legs a rest and for the fun of it . E bikes are fun.

    I use my throttle to get moving and to navigate my driveway, while peddling everywhere else. I am looking for a fold up ebike for traveling with the intent of not peddling much, but instead cruising around campgrounds or resorts and using it as a shuttle for river kayaking.

    Hi Mark i peddle all the time seldom use the throttle. The weird thing is my bike weighs 80 pounds plus accessories ,but I enjoy moving that heavy mass with peddle plus assist of course. Just throttling would seem odd to me especially in cold weather just seating there and not moving my body to generate some heat . As long as the word bike describes what am riding I believe peddling is the main purpose. However do what ever makes you happy there’s no judgment on my end .

    Technically, Yes I pedal my ebike. However because of gearing at higher speeds there's no actual pedaling effort (ghost pedaling) so I'm just moving the pedals. but pedaling on my bike has an advantage as it only uses the rear motor, and the throttle engages the AWD. so I'm only using half the energy when i pedal at the same speed as using the throttle.

  • @peddeler2
    @peddeler2 Před měsícem +1

    my bike was a moped style with a long saddle that was too low to pedal comfortably, I removed the long saddle and fabricated a seat post with a regular bike seat set at the proper height for me to pedal efficiently. So much better, I will never buy a moped style ebike again.

      I agree completely. Getting cars off the road is definitely more important than any quibble of the typically breathless politics.

    I used to ride a regular bike. Because I'm older now, I have a hard time with hills. I stopped riding because of it. I bought an ebike to make the hills more level. I got a pedal assist only bike. At my age, this is probably the only exercise that I get. I see that you have multiple stop signs. I think a throttle works well with start ups. Maybe someday, I might consider a bike with a throttle.

    I have my speed set up so high that even PAS 1 goes 17 mph. So I can't really pedal at speeds under 17. 😂

    What I don't understand about these E bike haters is why do they even care? It's not like there are e bikes all over the place. I ride one to work in the morning and in 5 miles of riding I may see one or two other E Bike riders and 250 different cars.

  • @fingers054
    @fingers054 Před měsícem +1

    I'm a pedal person. Too many years on acoustic bikes so muscle memory won't allow me to throttle. I use it to get going because my Radrunner is currently pushing 75lbs and I weigh 270. Combine that with 53x16 gearing, 500 watt motor. Once moving I can comfortably pedal 16 mph on legal ground and only use as much power as is necessary.

    • @Dbentzjr
      @Dbentzjr Před měsícem

      The term you mean is analog, not acoustic. One refers to a waveform, the other refers to sound reflection. A DAC is a digital to analog waveform converter, for example. I don't mean to nag, but I just wanted to make everyone here aware of the difference because it would seem that many people often wrongly use the term "acoustic" because it is so similar probably to "analog".

    • @fingers054
      @fingers054 Před měsícem

      @@Dbentzjr Being an audiophile myself I know what you are talking about.that's a whole lot of unrelated ebike information. Don't like acoustic? Use 'normal' or 'regular' as analogue isn't 'accurate' either.

  • @Kattbirb
    @Kattbirb Před měsícem +1

    I do pedal my bike quite a bit. But it doesn't have enough gearing to go past about 16 MPH with any sane cadence. Perfect for shared use paths where I crank down the motor. But on the street, there's no real point in pedaling after I get going, as even Class 2 speeds leave me ghost pedaling. I'm definitely going to invest in the groupset in the future.

    I have a "moped style" ebike like yours. I peddle it now and then. Sometimes I even shut the motor off and just pedal on some trails for exercise. Im sure I look ridiculous doing this wearing a motorcycle helmet but idc haha im having fun.

    A lot of people in the world is jealous either because they can’t afford it…. when I buy mine in 2025 if the Lord spend my life, I don’t care what people say. You know I will ignore them and keep on going about my day. when I get mine, I’m gonna enjoy it. OK people can say what they want to say long and the Lord let me get out there to enjoy. I’m gonna do it long as I can. That’s why I’m getting all my gear and 2024 ready for my aE.trike in 2025 ❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
