When I have had to reach out to customer support with questions along the way, they have always been extremely fast and thorough with assistance. When the day comes that I need to refresh my ride, Ride1Up will be my go-to! This video of their story and quality further reinforces my belief in the brand! Thanks very much.

    I applaud this review. The short bio of the owner explains the company's philosophy well. The Ride 1Up factory combines hand assembled bikes, combined with state of the art robots, redundant quality control every step all with an attitude to deliver every bike to the consumers' doorstep that won't disappoint. Not an easy task, but it appears that Ride 1Up has the recipe down to a science.
    There are a lot of junk e-bikes on the market coming out of China. Not Ride 1Up. They are not the least expensive, however they are one of the good guys, who offers a well made quaity bike, at a good value price.

    This was awesome. I traded in my lectric XP 3.0 for an Xpeak and it was a death wobbly lemon. Brought it back, and while I was not going to keep that bike, it made me realize how much I can ride anywhere but I need way more battery+speed. So I’m saving up for a wired freedom, but in the meantime I need a stopgap. Saw the cafe cruiser, it looks cool, has a passenger seat (genuinely hilarious add-on BTW; highly recommend.) And for $1299 what a steal. It is very well built. Day 2 with my Lectric Xpeak the kickstand fell completely loose. Because I’m an idiot when I got my cafe cruiser, I knocked my kickstand loose off its adjustment knob trying to lengthen it, had to take the whole thing off to avoid laying down on the ground. Lo and behold the bolt was perfectly snug how it should be, and BLUE LOCTITE? Hallelujah. Smart people at Ride1Up, they are putting $$$ where it matters. My cafe cruiser will have a place in my home for a long time even when my wired cruiser comes in. (That one is just a legit money saver to just stop driving my car as much as possible lol.)

Even after I had given up and was going to accept it the way it is, Benito followed up with me to make sure it was OK. It wasn't, and they're sending me a new display now. I have high hopes for this bike. With a change to street tread tires, I think it will be PERFECT.

    Thanks for another informative “behind the scenes” video. Great you could coordinate with Kevin Duggar for it!
    It’s encouraging to learn of their multiple inspection stages.
    I’ve been pretty pleased with the LMT’d I bought in late 2020, though perhaps they didn’t have the paint quality inspections in place as its matte paint is quite fragile, and thick paint on the faces of the bottom bracket caused issues with creaking when pedaling and misalignment and some damage to the ribbon cable insulation from the torque sensor. After I sanded off the paint, it aligned correctly and eliminated the creaking noise.
    Great that Ride1Up is trying to eliminate non-recyclable, non-biodegradable packaging, and switching to reusable nylon cable ties. I use a precision flat head screwdriver to remove them for reuse already, but it’ll be much easier and safer to not have to do that. I’ve seen at least one brand use twisted thick Kraft paper ties (I think Globe?).
    Would like to get a Portola to replace my Nesta, but waiting for it to get UL certification. It will make it easier when I take it to NYC and other places that are requiring UL certification.

    Things at ride1up must have changed in the past two years because the core-5 that I bought was unridable when delivered. The wheels were laughably under tensioned, the saddle clamp was broken, and one of the valve cores was also broken. Ride1up responded quickly with a new seat post and tubes, but the valve stems were short so it was a real chore to inflate them. I spent six years as a bike mechanic so I was able to basically finish building the wheels. Since then, the pads on the mechanical disc brakes regularly back out. Tightening them requires removal of the rear wheel which is very tedious. My son has put 2,000 miles on it and though it was a rough start, we’ve actually been very happy with it. After the poor delivery experience I had, I didn’t think they would be in business for long. But if they really have brought their quality control in line, then it seems they have a future after all!

      If you are talking about the Prodigy no it is not a downgrade.

    • @Electrek
      @Electrek  Před 16 dny +3

      36V isn't inferior to 48V. Both have pros and cons. They are just two different system voltages. It's easier to go higher power with higher voltage, but you usually get lighter, smaller, and less expensive batteries with 36V, which can be more appropriate when moderate power is acceptable.

    Hello, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your whole entire life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
