Some of his best rockers. Human Race, They might be lost. Welcome back, Canamerican
I like the album! Of course it is futile to hope for a new "Harvest" or..."Ragged Glory"(!!!) but I wish every artist could offer us at the age of 76 albums like "Barn".
With the amazing output he has had in his career I can revisit other albums. But I always welcome new material.
Always pumped to see Neil Young putting out new tunes. And even more so with Crazy Horse.
Got my copy waiting to come in mail.
Thanks always, Brendon.
I love how quickly Neil puts out new albums. He’s always trying something new.
Really great thoughtful review. Can't wait to hear it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Will definitely be giving this a listen. He's so prolific ... his output has been patchy from time to time but every now and again you get glimpses of his utter genius. Plus he just puts it all out there regardless and you have to respect him for that.
I've been enjoying his Barn interviews and the pre-releases on his youtube channel. Welcome Back is a gem.
There is going to be a whole standalone movie called The Barn. Not sure if that’s where the interviews are coming from or not but we should see the film soon.
enjoyed the review...thanks...have the cassette version coming next week...perfect album for the season...
Did you also get the CD or Vinyl or just choosing to get it on cassette?
@@BrendonSnyder just the cassette...have quite a few cassettes of Neil...as he can sound great on tape...
I am just after a first playing Neil Young new album. Human Race as you said a great classic rocker from Neil and Crazy Horse. I like it. And my favourite one - Welcome Back. Calm and meandering song.
The album has a nice pace to it alternating between rockers and more mellow tunes.
My two favorite songs of his are BIG GREEN COUNTRY and KEEP ON ROCKIN' THE FREE WORLD.
Crazy Horse is insaine,I really like the Live Rust album.
Anytime Neil pairs up with Crazy Horse it’s a good thing.
Real good album like the Jackson Browne to but got the Santana today and I love it some real rockers on it it's my favorite of the three but glad I got all three bigger Mr young fan but I think Carlos wins this time I love the cover of barn to I've lived that scene I lived in the country seven years it's nice and you can crank your rock and roll to
Very good album Best since psychedelic pills
Of the Crazy Horse material, I agree. But I still liked some of the others in between like The Monsanto Years and Storytone.
I like his attitude to music at least he is recording new music at 76 rather than reissuing old material like others his age.Worth investing in.
I’m glad he is still recording new material as well. But equally I’m glad he is also releasing the archival material so we get the best of both worlds.
I have the Blu-Ray DVD of "Barn" coming in the mail. The tracking says I will have it this coming Monday.
Excellent 👍
U got the same taste as me.
Great minds think alike!
Neil and Crazy Horse are one of my favorite bands, but after sampling this release, I think it's time to give it a rest.
I don’t think a lot of people especially the fans are going to agree with you.
I've never been a Neil fan. I put him in the same camp as Dylan and Tom Waits. I recognize their significance as musicians and appreciate their song writing abilities. However, their voices are so awful (at least to my ears) that I can't get into their music. But you're clearly a big Neil fan, so I'm glad for you that he's got new music out.
I'm a long time fan of Neil and Bob's music (not that familiar with Tom Waits) and I get what you're saying about their voices. I happen to think there is something appealing and interesting about their voices but I can definitely see how others would be turned off by it... especially Bob's voice which has become even more weathered over the years.
Wait's voice is horrible, can't compare it to Bob or Neil at all.
Didn't buy it, because the singles didn’t impress me.
I honestly can't stand his singing on this album. His voice is getting really weak and out of tune, even more so than usual. Not for me, but glad you enjoy it! Cheers.
Are you basing your decision on the album or the videos he released to promote the album which were shot live and I agree he does not sound good on. The album on the other hand he sounds great.
@@BrendonSnyder It's based on the album itself. I was lookin' forward for a new Young & Crazy Horse, but it doesn't float my boat. Maybe I'll get into it later on. Cheers!
Nice Wikipedia reading, I'm so bored with this dribble.
Thanks for the kind words Chuck! I always appreciate a fan.
" In My opinion some of NY best work" Really? Are you Serious? I guess I won't be subscribing to your channel. Sorry, but you are way off the mark. Who are you anyways and what qualifies you to give your opinon?
Being a fan of music doesn’t require qualifications but seeing as how you didn’t know that, we’re probably not a good fit! Thanks for watching!
A.D. Hanson 😂. I have no idea what these people are listening to, but it ain't "Barn". Anyone who gives this stinker more than 2 out 5 or 4 out of 10 is delusional and knows nothing about music or Neil's catalog.
The lyrics on this stinker are so bad that it would make anyone with more than 2 brain cells laugh
I swear these guys are getting paid for positive reviews, because I haven't found a negative one yet.
Well clearly you’re not a fan of Neil Young then because he’s been making albums sounding like this with lyrics like this for ages. But hey…thanks for watching and not knowing what you’re taking about!
@@BrendonSnyder, nonsense. Neil was never close to Dylan when it comes to lyrical content, but he certainly penned some great ones:
*Campaigner
*Revolution blues
*Thrasher
*Ambulance blues
*Pocahontas
*Harvest(the song)
*RITFW
and many more had very passable and some even great lyrics
The last 20 years he has lost his ability to write and he just sounds lazy and childish.
No one can hold their peak quality for 50 years. Give Neil a break. At least he is still making new music when lots of bands just play live with nothing new. If you don’t like it that’s fine. But I and lots of Neil Young fans like it. By the way no one said its his best work, only that we like it. Get over it.
