Job well done! Thank you for showing a real world set-up and the really good tips and tricks too. I may have just found my awning after LOTS of research.
I see you posted this 2 years ago. I still wanted to tell you thank you! I’m waiting for mine to show up and I also ordered the side door section. I may say the cool tip on storing the side panel was very helpful! I was wondering where I was going to store it as I sleep inside my Jeep. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Best video on this awning on all of CZcams! I acquired a trailer with an awning and a couple extensions and for the life of me I could not figure out what the extra poles were for until I watched your video. Thanks!
So the extension walls for the Batwing are totally compatible with the Foxwing awning... I just put a video up showing this. And I've got a door version of the wall in stock! about halfway down on this page www.gamiviti.com/rhino-awnings
great video on the awning. i have this and have yet to set it up (cant get the right prinsu mount) and i was on the fence about the sidewalls but after seeing this i definately will be.
I'm wanting to get an awning but with a 270 degree awning do you have problems of finding enough space to put it up? Do trees, other cars, fences, etc get in the way often?
The only thing I don't like is the gap between the rear of your truck and the awning. If its raining and you are at the back of the truck using your stove or whatever, you're going to get wet from water dripping down through the gap. They should consider adding a small extension, say 12-18 inches to cover the gap. Otherwise, great price and quality.
Very helpful video. Im looking for an awning and your video was very detailed. Your music was too loud compared to your voice. I had to turn volume down. Recommend that your voice level be twice as loud as your background music. Thx
You did an amazing job selling this. I'm going to order this BECAUSE of your presentation. Just one question, when you make your tent complete, can you close the rear door hatch completely.
Tks for sharing… Just subscribed; soo is $228.00 w/o door and $266 for the 4th wall with door… all 4 walls jointed together close the room… Right? or is there a 5th wall need? Do You ship to Florida?
Thanks for the review! Consider a wireless mic, it's really hard to hear what you are saying. If using your phone for video recording you may want to use a bluetooth of some kind. I've never done any video recordings myself, so my advice is limited.
I take it the awning isn't self supporting then, and you need to have the legs down and ideally pegged into the ground? so it wouldn't work on solid ground?
Yes and no... it's not self supporting, but it would still work on solid ground. You would just want to tie it down with a couple of the ropes, either to a slider, bumper, or heavy object on the ground like a recovery bag or even spare tire, so that the wind can't pick it up.
Yes they offer a passenger side version, but it's a different product so would need to be specified when ordering. Most popular is to put the awning on the driver's side, main reasons being that it's easier to maneuver an awning through tight trees/rocks when you can look up out the window and see it, eaiser to position the awning next to another vehicle awning or structure, and most rear doors that swing out, and most rear bumpers with tire swing-outs, are all swinging to the passenger side. So you don't want a tire or door in the middle of your shade, forcing you to walk around it.
Yes. usually requires you to lower the door to swing it out, then raise the door again up into it. this is worse with 4Runners, a little less worse on split tailgates, but totally doable. Also the flexibility of the Batwing works to your advantage here, compared to more rigid awnings like OVS.
I’m really Diggin the background music you added to this video. I wish I knew the name of it or where to find it. It reminds me of early Rolling Stones.
right on! that was band I was in a number of years back called O'er the Ramparts, we played around in Denver here. the song is God City mcdermottology.bandcamp.com/album/mandatory-esp
It did remind me more of a Hellacopters sound. Such a good tune, will check out you band mate. Also, great review, just got a used Compact size Batwing for my 2001 XL7 Suzuki and was checking this video to see if I can use side walls without pegs, cos havent got much room to carry them around, but your packing- pegs-and-walls-in-awning-bag idea is genious hehe
Great review, great product, PLEASE.....LOSE the super loud "background" noise, can't call it music. When the video volume is enough to clearly hear your voice, the extra loud interlude makes me want to turn you off. And we miss a lot of what you say. Other than that, good presentation :-) Thanks.
The review was on point and it was great to see the weak points at the hinge and how to watch out for it. I like the fact that everything fit in the storage bag.
@@gamiviti4828 True, but it will still run off the car roof and down the sides eh? And in fact a driving rain from certain directions would come straight through. I've always considered that to be a deal breaker, but nobody else seems to care.
Nah mate. You just need enough height over your door/tailgate (I've got an LC200) and then the hinge can go more over the roof of your car and there is very little gap
The older Foxwing had a metal version of this part, so going to plastic was an upgrade. It was also possible to break the metal one, but just as likely was bending a pole in half, if the hinge provided too much resistance. I suspect the logic was by putting the fuse at the plastic hinge, they'd save a lot of poles in the process, with the hinge being the first thing to go. It's also faster to change out a hinge than a pole.
I think the hinges are designed to be break-away so that if the wind gets too strong the hinge will break before the aluminum parts have a chance to bend. That way your awning doesn't get wrecked and all you have to do is pop in a replacement hinge. This is not a weak point as mentioned in the video. It's by design.
Why dont amateur youtubers know enought to use a lapel mic for level sound? How hard can it be? Surely theyve watched plenty of youtube videos on how to film a video...!?
if it were only about camping, sure. Usually the awnings are used separately from a tent, and are often put away after the sun sets. Awnings are often used for lunch breaks on a trail, or hanging out after a bike ride or hike, seldom in place of a tent.
Your explanation was wonderful. That music made it difficult to listen. Not all your viewers are young males. Some of us are older and I tend to avoid that misinformation background
I'm not going to buy an awning, but was very impressed that you deployed it in that wind and I've never seen anyone fly a drone in sleet. Kudos.

I have a question do all 4 sides fit in like the one does at the end with the extra poles like you showed or just one ?

Thinking one of these would be perfect on my Discovery 1. 🤔 Great review!
Great video & icing on the cake would be lower volume on the music and picking a different track for other vids.
Hi mate, how's the back wing going? Thinking of buying one. Your vid is quite old?
I want one, but is it worth the price? I just can't seem to bite the bullet

The best color GX.
agreed!
what happened to the RLD Ghost Awning? Trying to decide between both.
I gave that one back... only had it long enough to do the rack receiver mounts.
This is nice and I'm sure not cheap. They should do a better job with the stakes, they're chintzy and should be stronger.

Could you please share us the link where you bought this awesome awning. Thanks!
I am a dealer of them. www.gamiviti.com/awnings you can also buy from Rhino directly.

this is the regular size, which is just shy of 8' long. thanks for watching!

Does it all come together side walls and everything or do you have to buy them separate
the walls are sold separately- you can see the prices on the website.www.gamiviti.com/rhino-awnings
Are you using a roof rack system from rhino rack?
No, definitely not a Rhino rack. www.gamiviti.com/roofracks

actually yes. Using a pair of our Multi Brackets, OEM fit kit, and Batwing adapter plates. www.gamiviti.com/multi-brackets

Koliko kosta komplett?
It seems though that ALL these awning have a huge gap between them and the vehicle. Surely that lets the rain bucket in.
Yes if your awning were sloped towards the vehicle all the rain runs that way... but just set the poles lower so the rain can run off the side.

Rather than just give customers replacement hinges, why not make them out of stainless steel or something stronger?

go to a fabricator / machinist - they will make you some steel ones
