11m2 with the batwing v 6.25m2 coverage with the kings, if your going to make a point make sure your correct, totally different applications, depends where you want your shade 🙄
Interesting review, Sorry to hear your bad experience My personal experience of 7yrs with a Foxwing awning which includes approximately 100 setups in all sorts of conditions- Coverage on the Foxwing is far superior in area (11.25M vs 6.25M... maths do not lie) and certainly better in rain/storms , I once went out with the boys and a massive storm can over, all of them left their 2.5M x 2.5M awning and had took refuge under the Foxwing, those 2.5M awnings are useless when the weather is bad really only good for shade unless your get a side awning or 2 I've had no breakages (There is a knack to setting them up) and need 2 people in moderate to strong winds. I do love how you get close to 270' coverage which includes the rear covered barn door of the Prado (I also positioned my awning a little more forward to ensure little rain gets in the rear. The canvas/guide ropes and poles still feels like new including all the zippers, I have replaced the bag to now include the poles, hit too many trees over the 7 yrs and was looking a little shabby I do agree they take care and time in setting up, happy to show you a few tips
Very helpful with my decision making. I have been on the fence about the Batwing. Your video was the final testimony that helped me decide not to get it. Was looking at another 270 degree awning, but it appears only to be available in Australia. The name started with a D, but I can't remember exactly. Thanks again.
Agreed, you sound like you are sour on them as you had a bad experience in set up. If you just pulled it out without using the support legs you will be putting too much stress on those pivot points. They are meant to break away if there is strong winds vs. Breaking other more expensive components. And for coverage, it is different coverage - I have a 6.5 foot by 8 ft like the first one you showed, but my bat wing gives coverage when I am walking around to the back of the jeep. Both work great, and serve different needs.
If you were going to review a product you think you would do your homework first. Some call it informative, but not really when incorrect info is provided.
For coverage you can't go past a Supa Wing by Supa Peg (Australian company). On our camper we have a 3.5m with coverage to the side of 2.4m and 2.0m to the rear. All ends are squared off. Though not self supporting with quality Australia canvas and fittings build to last.
They are meant to break off! This is to save the wing. If you follow directions and tie it down like it’s supposed to be, it works as it should. Want to watch how one does in +40mph winds for 2 days, see my video. Thanks for the video.
Didn’t get a chance to tie it down before a 5 km breeze picked it up weak as anything POOR DESIGN Been using standard awning for years never had a problem Much more wind has lifted off the ground before I tied it and it just drops down again because they have proper cast aluminium hinges instead of week plastic designed to break
Mmm good review , I was looking at these at caravan and camping show and thought they looked good but were expensive for what they were. After seeing your review you make some really good points about weight and how much you will be using it. I have a 2.5 metre gazebo sitting in my shed which I think now I will be using. Maybe down the track I may look at a cheaper awning. Well done you just saved me 800 smackers. Cheers
Excellent review. I agree a very badly designed awning on how the awning is cuts back to much at an angle at the front, only comes out 1900mm and the weak pivot points. Doesn't give 100% cover at rear. You would assume an international company would but more thought into to the design.
Great review, no one mentions that missing triangle which makes it awkward to setup a swag & stretcher etc. The side awnings are tried & tested , going to stick with one of them.
Those hinge parts are weak as piss, mate opened his wet snapped all 4 at once and the replacement cost is a ripoff apart from that this awning is pretty good imo.

Thanks Guys! I was totally about to buy one of these bat wings and you saved me 😅 from a lots of heartache! Cheers! Mark
Thanks for the video mate, really good information that I have been looking for.
It’s not a review, you’re just saying negative things without a decent comparison. Don’t manipulate others hnleee you give pro’s and cons…
Yeah but your batwing coverage goes behind the vehicle to sit in the shade, and set up your chair.

No strong winds
Just weak crap design

Homework done from experience & demonstration in video 😁😁

Supa peg is really good!!

Just put the Rhino 270 compact on my rav4, only because I'm a little weight conscious. Not used it yet but will after Christmas rush

There is no missing triangle if you know not to expect it. But I am happy and respect your experience with what you are comfortable with.
One of my hinges snapped on first setup. I agree fairly disappointing for $
Good review... was about to get the batwing... not now.
I’m so glad I watched your show 👍 thanks you saved me a lot of money 💰
Thank you!
Good feedback. For someone looking, it was good to hear and demonstrate the benefits and disadvantages. Thanks

yeah the hinge will snap the channel it bolts into
try to CNC the part from aluminium , good review overall
Is the rhino rack 2m or 2.5
Full size
Is this the standard or compact sized batwing?
The standard one that cost $887 less than two years ago
I think it’s the compact, the normal one is 2.5 from bracket to seam...
Full size
mate you just sound salty since you set it up wrong and scratched your car. None of your negative points are valid in comparison to the kings one.
🤷♂️😁😂😂👍✌️
