Never heard of DIRAC, nice explanation. Very familiar with class G. I purchased a Hitachi class G model SR-804 in 1979 and still use it as my main amp. The SR-804 is 50wpc with 3dB's of headroom, that's twice the rated power for short bursts for a clean, clear, crisp sound. Yup, it never gets hot. After eight or more hours of use (even with loud playing) the top is barely warm to the touch. It weighs under twenty four pounds. How many 50wpc receivers from 1970's/80's weighed under thirty pounds?? Finally, class G gets it's recognition. I feel soooo freakin' smug.
Restyled Arcam SA30, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Class G amp is stout, and I love the retro style. I wish the newer Arcams looked like this, hate their ultra modern look.
You are exactly right! I checked / compared the rear panels on both and they are a carbon copy of each other. Well, Harman owns both brands, so this was more of a restyling job created for JBL.
@@alexgalimov8682 Exactly! Why reinvent the wheel? The new JBL Synthesis AVR’s are also Arcam clones internally, which they’re high performance, as JBL products should be 👍
Add an FM tuner and Loudness button and it is a Vintage!
I just sold my Dynaco MKiii & will be hooking up my SA600 which was brought up to original spec’s by Bob Hovland.,,Klipsch Forte 1 & Denon turntable..
This sounds like it looks really good
Looks like it sounds, and sounds like it looks.
This looks like it sounds really good!
It has Arcam guts, so yes it will sound really good 👍
Gorgeous device!
I would like to hook up a sub wondering if the audio output is fixed or variable? Since it dosent have a dedicated sub output.
I brought a pair of L100 classics about a year ago and have been driving them with a mid-range yamaha 5.1 surround sound amp in sterio mode ever since. Its only 90wpc but they still sound sweet at low volume. I cant want to get one of these and hear them perform properly.
Its a lovely looking unit. Id love to find an amp with VU meters but not found anything particularly suitable so will get me one of these.
McIntosh has meters and arguably the most iconic meters of all.
Looks like Arcam SA30 ;-)
Winner winner chicken dinner...but it is prettier.
Nice demo of JBL amp and speakers. Own the JBL Stage A130's. The 4309 speakers sound better!
Those JBL monitors don't mess around. Great stuff.
Is there a “regular” version of this? A non-anniversary edition?
…similar to the L100 that has multiple editions.
There is not.
@@GramophoneMD thanks for the reply.
Woot
Yeet
Which one is better? This amp or the Technics SU-G700?
Less an issue of better, more an issue of preference.
How does it compare to the Marantz 30 and 40n? Thank you.
Similar. It would depend on the specific speaker pairing for me to make a choice. Though I do really like that it has Dirac.
@@GramophoneMD heresy lV speakers.
I want to use this for a TV/HiFi set up. What work arounds are available for the lack of hdmi arc?
Bluesound’s new Node has eARC. I’d start there for sure.
Get arcam sa30 with hdmi eARC. They are identical amps
Looks like an Arcam to me 😆
Arcam heart, JBL teak wood skin.
@@GramophoneMD Thanks for the candor. I had the original SA600. Wish I had kept it.
Does it have tone controls
It has Dirac Live which is like tone controls on steroids. Watch videos about Dirac Live to see if it is something that you think you would be proficient in using.
First
Are those fake wood panels?
No, It is a real teak veneer.
