I'm a Cardinals fan.
Say we have the #1 pick and the #3/4 pick... I'd draft Caleb Williams and trade Kyler Murray (they'd just have to agree to pay some of his salary) and then hopefully draft Marvin Harrison Jr as well

Who would the draft?
By that logic the bears won the draft as well, they hold the panthers 1st round pick drafted the tackle they wanted and got more picks and a player
Panthers were a game away from the playoffs and they got better and Tom Brady left their division so when you combine all of that that pick could be a late first rounder but the Texans are pretty much guaranteed to miss the playoffs at minimum

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like the Bears will get a top 10 pick next year from this. Maybe Poles will find a young edge rusher OR if Fields doesn’t work out, still in position to grab a QB 🤌🏾

Birds won because of their patience. Cards came in 2nd, that value is massive. Especially because as he said it will be a QB heavy draft, so you can turn that 5 into an 8 and another first the next year, and kick the can down the road increasing your value while bettering the team with blue chips at the same time.

1.) Best prospect in the draft
2.)Teammate and highly touted athlete to the National Champion defensive front
3.) insane UDFA prospect in Eli Ricks to learn from Slay and Bradberry

Cardinals knew they had no chance to be good this year and will be rebuilding next year, so they got an extra 1 and and extra 3 for next year.
I hope he means something else like a tradeable pick to grab more value in later spots or rounds.Because they CAN'T be moving on from Murray after the money he's now owed and the SECOND top 10 QB taken back to back. Plus they might get even more should they find a D-Hop destination. They still got holes.

The point is because there are so many young qb talent in next year draft , there will be teams fighting to move up to secure a qb. So the value of the pick is great IF the Texans are bad. He's not necessarily talking about the Cardinals drafting a QB.
@dnative93 I just wonder because they have done the unthinkable before , top 10 QB back to back years, still not a great O-line since then. Murray will not be day one starting (if they want him at running around full strength), and maybe down a top WR, if they deal Hop, among other positions, it could be a long year. Hopefully he will still be 100% himself and no lingering issues from this🙏🏾. Could be another high pick from there own bad year🤷🏾♂️.
I think he meant trading the pick. If that’s a 4 you turn that into a 7 and another top 10 the next year because its a QB heavy draft. They’ll also be dog water this year, so they have potential to set themselves up with a ton of mid 1st round picks if they’re smart (or go get a game changer, stupid IMO team has way too many holes)

Asinine take from a past player who never even watched a Texans game. It’s a shame that he a recent player should know you should never count any one out. Cardinals got great compensation I agree with that, but counting on the Texans to be bad is dangerous in a league that I’ve seen Teams go from worst to first.

No OTHER TEAMS are gonna want a top 5 QB meaning In 2024 cardz can trade their Texans 1st rounder for maybe 2 or 3 MORE first round picks for years to come and end up with a HAUL of picks for many years including maybe more 2nd or 3rd rounders in 2024.
@@BarManE.C I don’t think they’ll keep trading like that for years to come but say Texans are top 3 pick again, that would give cardinals leverage to trade back and get players to help team or more picks to bolster with but if a draft class is juicy enough in skill positions of need they could use all those picks next year or the year after depending on needs

That's actually a pretty good argument. I was about to say no one knows who will pan out and who won't. But next year's QB class has tons of characters, and a top 3-5 pick in that draft could indeed be money. Unless Kyler sucks again then they may just have to use it to cut him and run.
I firmly believe the NFL should do something about these Quarterback Contracts. I don't know what. But these QB contracts absolutely take potential earnings from other positions, and emphasize having a good QB both on the books and on the field.

The perceived value of next year's picks is overrated. Not only do we not know where those picks will end up in the draft but those prospects could turn out to be busts. I'm surprised he even brought up Spencer Rattler because that's a perfect example of someone who flashed for a year, built up hype and then fell off a cliff. Draft grades shouldn't be evaluated until the last year of the rookie contracts 3 years from now. By then we'll have learned about how the trades actually panned out as well as know whether the guys drafted are worth keeping on their respective squads or not. There's no winning the draft before you even see these players against actual NFL talent
