Watching this made me cry! I've not long done my first trail marathon, and I have my first 50K at the end of October on Seven Sisters and the South Downs. I remember the AMAZING feeling of my Trail marathon, especially the wonderful friendly atmosphere, and one day I would like to do THIS 50k...thank you for the wonderful video !
I wonder how many, like me, did this as their first ultra after being inspired by your last Serpent Trail film (or even your film before that). I reckon there must be quite a few. This one captured the event superbly - beautifully produced as always. No doubt it'll convince a few more to give it a go next year. Nice one Loyd.

I’m too old now but this is an inspiring video. It’s good to see the “ordinary” runners enjoying the run instead of the elite racing snakes for a change. Well done 👍🍷

Congratulations on finishing in style too! I think Liga proves my friends theory that it’s not one or 2 training sessions that get you to 50k but miles already in the legs from years of running and other events. Awesome 👏🙂

I can relate to Simon's story. I've only been running since 2020. Never done a marathon but I've signed up for a 50k local to me after seeing signs for the Chesterfield Round Walk during my runs. There's a race that mostly follows that route, called the Spire Ultra. I think survival will be the goal for that one! 😄👍🏻🏃♂️

Great film Loyd, it looks like such a great event. It was nice to see you and Liga again there. We just drove down to get a feel for the atmosphere ,it was our 18th wedding anniversary, I know how to show a lady a good time🤣 The village vibe that Tom has going there make a great place for a post race chill out. I will definitely be entering next year's race.
So frustrating to watch this race, as I had to pull out due to an injury. I signed up for Serpent after watching you race it last year but I've had to defer till next year. At least I'll have a greater understanding of the route for next year.

Loved watching this one Loyd, I often think your arm must feel like it wants to fall off from all the cam work. Congrats to you both and can I say Liga did amazingly well seeing that she had not prepared for it. What website do you look for trail runs on? I have a 10K booked for October but I'd like to do some more 10 - 25k trail runs in and around the midlands, do you have any favourites?
I completed my first 50k ultra yesterday on the North ridge and was impressed with the organisation by Freedom racing. Am considering this route as my 2nd attempt and wondering if it has less elevation than the former?
Glad you enjoyed your Freedom Racing experience Dave, they put on great events 👍 The 50k at the Serpent trail is pretty flat and runnable the whole way. There's a few short hills but nothing to bad, it's a quick route! Hope this helps 👍
Being used to mountain races that flat profile looks attractive to me because i'm fed up with climbing at the moment. And i'm not being sarcastic.......

It really does depend on the weather Mark? If you watch our other video of the Serpent trail 50k you'll see me wadding through knee deep water! 😲 If it's dry like it is in this video you would be fine in road shoes, if it's wet I'd definitely wear trail shoes.
