- Second race of the year and I'm heading up country to take on the awesome Freedom Racing's Salomon Serpent Trail 50k. I had a great time at the event last time I ran it, it really is a stunning, rolling and very runnable route. It's slightly different this time because Liga took on her biggest distance to date and she ran the Serpent Trail 100k!
She trained really hard for the race and was really excited for the adventure ahead. Check out the video to find out how we both got on out on the beautiful trails of the Salomon Serpent Trail.

Love this video showing the highs and lows. I did my first 100k at Race To The Stones this weekend. The kindness of strangers to help each other to get to the finish is amazing.

I was there for the 100km; longest I have ever done. Picked up an injury 12 miles in but battled through the last 50 miles and still finished it. Love watching your videos.

Cracking video, it really captured the whole event. Did the 50 again and knocked 30 mins off but it was a real struggle, so humid. It was great to meet you in person and awesome that you filmed my finish.

I presume the person disliking your video pressed the wrong button in error 😂 Just watched this video and the South West Traverse and I’m totally inspired. Been running for over 40 years, but never been beyond 26 miles. Have been waiting for better times and building up my ultra kit. Now looking for a race in north west England and planning a few camping trips down south. Hope I haven’t left it too late at 51 years of age. Keep on providing great advice and fantastic content 👍

Great coverage! Amazing video as usual. Seems like a great race (all that food at the aid station!!). On Saturday I too did a 50k and suffered as much. I'm lucky to have run with my brother who towed me through the lowest points. And that's what trail and ultra are all about - the people, nature, overcoming one's struggles and the emotions at the finish line. Thanks for the video :) AND had it not been for the Harrier Running poles I found out about on this channel, I don't think I would have made it to the finish. Great gear!

I was waiting for this and kicking my heels 50mins before the big match, filled that gap nicely! What a great film Loyd, you fully conveyed the emotions of both distances and must have been hard to race yourself whilst thinking about Liga's race.

Great video 👍 and well done Loyd and Liga 👏👏 Was good to meet you. I found the 50k tough too in the mud, sand and humidity. My hips and thighs were wrecked but absolutely loved the event 😃 I did Hurtwood with Freedom earlier in the year and that was great too (lots of elevation!!)

Just watching this before running it again on Saturday, I ran it last year as the course checker, left 2 hours before you lot :-) Glad you enjoyed the extra signage I left in place. Ran it in 4.39 last year, holding a metal staple gun and 2kg of signs :-D self supported, hoping for a good race.

It doesn't seem that long since the 44mile SWT, barely time to recover. Your filming and production make everything look so stunningly beautiful. Quite moving seeing all the finishers crossing the line. Makes me think that this might be the first ultra for me. Your slowest pace matches my fastest pace, so maybe I'd better just check out the cut off times first ! Thank you so much for making the vid.
I think there was a bit of the SWT still in my legs? Really glad you enjoyed the video and the 50k would be the perfect race for your first Ultra. A lot of the field in the 50k were first timers, that's why there's so much emotion at the finish line 😊

Well done Liga! I’m hoping to join the 100k gang one day was hoping London to Brighton this year but did my first 13.1 to the top of Snowdon yesterday, and took a tumble on the way down, stubbed my toe hard 🤕lovely purple today.. maybe my legs need some more training before a 100k 😂🤞🏽

What a wonderful event, excellent organisation from Freedom Racing as always. The Salomon Ultraglides performed well in the mud, unfortunately my legs didn’t.

Nutrition is such a personal thing and you just need to feed something that works for you and if it's scotch eggs, then it's scotch eggs! 👍😊
Great Vid, would it be possible to go through your full kit including what clothing and footwear you are using before each race, keep up the great vids.
Really glad you enjoyed the video. I normally do go through the kit I'll be using in the race but we were super busy building up to the race so I just didn't have time. If you watch some of our other videos you'll see this is something we normally do 👍

I did my first proper trail race there this year. Only the 10k tho which was soooo wet and soggy but so much fun and i was really surprised how quick i was. However now i find myself morbidly hooked and i am now in training for the 50k race next year with my distances slowly creeping up to 30k in just over 3hrs now i cant wait and have my eye on a few warmup trail ultras. Even with the distances i now run i can see and understand the emotion in those guys coming in after 50 and 100k.
That's awesome, well done! You definitely picked a wet year, I couldn't believe the underfoot conditions 😲
That's the way to do it, build your milage up nice and slowly and allow the body to adjust. Maybe see you there next year then? 🤔

@@Run4Adventure yeah I was surprised to get a 25th position in my first race. And I will always hate stiles. I will defo be there next year for the 50k so I’ll keep and eye out. Was thinking of doing the Goring ultra in April as a warm up event.
