  • Our Additive Department gets a major upgrade with the arrival of the Trumpf TruPrint 3000. This 3D Printer gives us double the height in print capability and nearly twice the size in width as our previous machine. Trevor Goforth talks about what makes the TruPrint 3000 such an improvement as he prints the qualifying build in 316L Stainless.

Its incredible to see people´s willing to share, this was unimaginable a few years ago, everything was "secret" even between machinists..

    I am designing very fine 3d printed chainmail, started at 3mm wide rings, 4x smaller than anything I could find online, it's so fine that it feels like fabric! The gaps between the rings while they print is 250 microns. Now I'm trying 2mm and 1.6mm wide rings but plastic just isn't strong at that scale so they print fine and then break when removed from the supports. If you guys wanted to try to print it on that machine that would be awesome!

  • @JrTr_03
    @JrTr_03 Před rokem +1

    I have never worked with this kind of machine, but I have a question. Why would you want to invert your print instead of vacuuming it? There will always be pockets that do not empty by turning them upside down. Can you vacuum them afterwards anyways or?

    • @jmowreader9555
      @jmowreader9555 Před rokem +1

      The sieve station would need a vacuum pump to pull the material back into it. The vacuum pressure used will evacuate all the little pockets without asking. I suspect, though have not seen, that the depowdering station gently shakes the part to eject stray powder that’s stuck up there.
      As to why you’d want to invert…gravity is free energy, vacuum pressure costs money to buy the electricity that makes it. Germans LOVE solutions that save money and energy…which is probably why the depowdering station has a crank to flip the part over by hand instead of a motor.

They probably also give tours to executives of companies they’re trying to recruit as customers… “sir, we are the finest machine shop on the planet” doesn’t sell well when you’ve got thirty gallons of coolant on the floor with 20 gallons of Swiss Oil floating on top of it, and there’s a ton of chips stuffed up inside the machines.
