- In this video, we are exploring an abandoned fabric mill in the North of England that was shuttered in 2010s with everything left behind. The building is in a time capsule state, with machinery, paperwork and furniture still inside, and was used recently for a drug grow!

Does anybody else enjoy the guy behind the cameras voice? Its so calming and smooth like ASMR. Hushed out of respect for wherever he is hah.
Very kind of you
Yes..and his "accounting or narration" is just enough info without taking away from the imagery.
My favorite!!
As a EU national living in the UK, I find these kinds of videos very interesting. Gives a special insight to the history of work and daily life.
Imagine a person who used work here watching this. Their former job/career location now and abandoned relic. I work in a busy factory and I always wondered what it would look like if the lights were turned out and everything was switched off.
I like listening to the history of the as it's being explored it makes the exploration more interesting.
Thanks lads for sharing this. I live 2 minutes away from this location and it is great to see inside the building. The factory did close down overnight due to cost. There has been many attempts to sell the property but the cost to repair and upkeep would be unjustified. There has been a few cannabis raids there too
Where is it?
Always love the POV infiltration! You guys really captured a gem, old mills are my favourite.
Great work as always!
Glad you enjoyed this one!
Location suggestion: there is an old Tesco’s/go outdoors in Chatham that went derelict a few months ago. The whole site is due to be demolished in 2025 and it’s an amazing area. There is also a massive multi story car park that got shut down. I went there a few months ago and it was amazing!
I agree. Pass this site regularly and think it would be ideal. And Mountbatten House although that it already bwing prepared for conversion to flats. Back when it was Tesco, there was an upstairs cafeteria overlooking the shop floor. Wonder if it survived the conversion to Go Outsoors?
We had many woolen mills in the New England States, USA.....My GrGrgrandfather, grandfather and father worked in them...as a kid i remember seeing those weaving machines working, they were very loud...sadly,most mills are no longer operating...just standing around like the one you are exploring... thanks for the tour.....👍👍
Once loud, now absolutely silent. No problem :)
Loved this explore! The lay out reminds me of a factory I used to work in in the 90s, now apartments lol. The shuttles on the window were a nice touch and the looms were amazing. Well done guys!!
It won't be long until this one becomes apartments, we reckon. Glad you liked the video
Fantastic thanks for making this film. I did a degree in textiles in the early 90's. To see those amazing dobby looms in the basement with the peg designs attached showing the design being woven in code. I have class notes of how to do that! And the laboratory would have been used to sample dye swatches and then dye up the yarns. Fabulous ❤
Very cool place. Thanks!!!
Fantastic explore as always!
Cheers
Beautiful explore, what an amazing building! 👌🏼😀
A stunner!
Fascinating explore, lads. You continue to amaze me - and likely most people who watch your videos. My father worked in 2 cotton/textile factories in Perthshire back in the 1950s and 1960s, which were different than these cloth-producing factories but similar. I remember stopping to visit him at the factory in Perth and would have loved to go exploring as I did when I was 9 and 10 (and even younger), but could only stand outside and listen to the magical hum of the looms and other machines while someone found my dad. The first place (built in 1785) became a whisky distillery and I believe the second was demolished years ago. These sort of places tell a story about the people who lived and worked in these towns. Keep up the good work.
Will do! Thank you. Glad we could provoke those memories for you, and you can feel a special connection to places alike
Always great to see these sort of videos. It’s so interesting
Great to hear!
Great video, I have visited this place before though nothing had been disturbed as much with the offices intact and no evidence of any growing, I agree with yourselves tbe weaving factory closed virtually over night there were hundreds of expensive bails of cotton left
Many still wrapped up and worth a small fortune too , I won't give tbe location away .
Great explore guys.
I'm stunned by the amount of fabric still there!
Great explore, frozen in time, wish I'd went awhile ago when I knew about it. Prob get the tourbus nd sealed now
I can see the headlines…”Clothing Factory Folds”… in all seriousness great video. Love watching you guys explore. Thank you
I remember cutting out the used stamps when I was the tea boy! Looked like there was some interesting ones there. Shame they will go to waste although I understand you don't take things. Great video as always.
I thought I recognised where the building was and found an article in a local newspaper about you visit . Building and businesses both victims of covid. Another great exploration.
Eh? That business was closed decades before covid.
This closed donkeys years before Covid, just look at the vending machine and computer monitors. Probably 20 years ago.
Another wonderful exploration guys, keep up the wonderful work as you weave through and cotton on to that pun xD
Haha, thanks ;)
I liked to see this, if you ever see good yarn in any of your travels do tell because we still operate a textile mill, my father probably dyed some of the yarn usedin the cloth in that old factory. We actually use a winding frame like the one you see in some of your video.
Must be bizarre to see it in this state. We often see old yarn in these sorts of premises
Thank you
Great video guys nice place too
Amazing footage.. This place looks incredible. Im heading up there this weekend for a nosey.. hopefully its still accessible! 🤞
It's boarded back up and they have removed the ledge. No way in :((
Interesting place!
Hi Alistar how are you doing buddy? Great video as always well edited and great background music to fit the scenes in the video its crazy that the place left everything inside when it shut in the 2010s this stuff could be used by someone as its all in good condition and is worth a lot of money to this day and might be perfect for a museum its terrible that one of the some of the rooms was used as cannabis plants growing rooms the wiring you saw dangling down was the group who was growing the cannabis plants hacked and moded into the electricity to make it as cheap as possible to run 24/7 as all of the equipment requires tons of volts to run and would cost thousands of pounds in electric bills to run anyways hope your having a good day so far and keep up the good work as always 👍
Very good sir! Glad you enjoyed the edit. It is a surreal place, isn't it? A bit freaky in parts with the ex-cannabis plant
@@Urbandoned It sure is a surreal place sure is freaky too that there was a ex cannabis farm filled with the ex cannabis plants still in there hope you having a good day so far Alistair👍
What a cracking find !... well done lads !
I think the hole punch machine was used to put holes in leather belts.
I loved visiting this explore with you... seems like I was right there!
I wished you could've spent a little more time showing the beautiful caged elevator... but a great explore!!
Yeah, I thought the same watching back! Too much to train our eyes on in there :)
very interesting
All that trouble to blur the signs later and it's visible within the first 5 seconds. Great find though, would love to explore myself. The old PCs and Looms.
Thanks lads, another great historical record create by you for all to see. The basement with the weaving looms was outstanding and I am sure I could almost hear the machines still working in the background! Sadly we are becoming a nation of non manufacturers and at some point in the future we are going to pay the price for it when China who are playing the smart and long game-plan take over the world my stealth rather than force like Putin!
The stone construction looks very similar to typical Bradford architecture, as does the surrounding area. Bottom of Thornton Road perhaps?
If you Google Urbandonded Bradford, another explorer's article will appear and give you details.
Hi there love watching your explores some great places. Me and a friend have just started doing the same but how do we find out where these places are.
No limit on research!
You did that explore justice...my Brother and Stepfather worked in textile factories, my Stepfather died in 1995 aged 48 from i think associated chest and other illnesses, my brother has lots of problems with his chest/respritory, in my opinion this attributed to working in these fabric textile conditions, several employees have also passed away too,
Love
Hiya Alistair, to tell you the truth my backside chaps and my stomach rolls when you go into a building, you know you shouldn't be going into, incase you get caught, your channel is really good, I enjoy every vlog, I've been watching since the Debenhams vlog in Manchester, keep up the good work, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
Appreciate the concern - and glad to hear you enjoy each video equally
What was in those black bags at the beginning of the video ?
That is literally down the road from me...
Others seem to disagree but i think the grow adds to the charm of it !
It definitely added a lovely scent
@Urbandoned the smell is controversial, but I think what the grow adds on a more universal level is just another layer to the history of the building.
How soon after it closed did the grow happen? Why did they shut down the grow? How long was the grow active? How big of an operation was it? Who ran it? Could the grow have even been there near the end of the place being closed down?
Would love to know the story behind this place.
I suppose these places shut as overseas factories cost less 🥺
Even till this day people need clothes for basic needs or fashion and those textiles machines are worth a fortune.
Been passed this building. Wonder if owner died ?. Not a bankruptcy as the liquidator would have quickly sold the building to a developer to clear the debts. I'd guess the estate was never passed on to relatives and therefore might become government property via probate ?. Eventually will become apartments.
Hiya John, at least there doing something with these old Victorian buildings instead of leaving them to decay
The WYSE Terminal in the board room...
The reality of what happens when kids and adults want a dress for £15 that they only wear once. Wonder how many families this factory fed. Remember Clix machines, lovely coffee, wonder what happened to them
Nice place shame about the scum of society take advantage of making dirty money... hell on earth just been to a needle central
Maybe a secretary who kept stamps for her husband, and when he died she just kept collecting them. For him.
clearly they was also growing weed
No, they were growing cotton! 😉
@@fhwolthuis of course, how silly of me
Why not look up and document the history of the buisness?
Attacked! 😂 Pathetic
??
Are you commenting on the wrong video?
Please stop using the Lord and Jesus' name in-vain? I am sure that you can express your awe and dismay or perhaps pleasure or displeasure during your explorations using far more descriptive words without bring God or Jesus into it.
I've warned them before and actually they have done a lot better in the past few years.
I agree completely, it's cringe worthy when they do it.
If you dont like it stop watching - simple
@@majorberk4647 Thanks. I will do just that. You have just lost them a subscriber. I said, don't use the Lord's name invain. I didn't say, Don't fucking swear you poes!
Jesus... Still believing in that bronze age fairytale?
The leaded glass window @9:46 contains two crossed shuttles in the circular feature. Shuttles are used in weaving cloth. I only know this from watching an abandoned mill in Scotland.
Where was the video of an abandoned mill in Scotland? I would like to watch.

The channel is called Exploring With Alec. I’m trying to find the exact video for you. I will continue searching for it and will let you know the title.
I’m pretty sure this is it: Abandoned Sewing Mill - SCOTLAND uploaded on Feb 14, 2021.
@@sharong8511 thanks, I will check it out
Hey amazing video .
Iv been myself. Have developers started yet or is it still possible to get one last look in ?
You made this vid a while ago you said.
Cheers
Hey there. Just subbed recently. Yeah, grow shows used to be a common thing here too. Now it’s legal and there’s cannabis shops all over the place.
